  1. Haha! this is not the name I would have chosen for the team, but I like it already... it's great to meet you fellow CareBears! HERE is an introduction to myself and HERE is my challenge At the moment I am worried as I don't feel my goals are SMART enough (making me not accountable enough to my accountabuddies!) So any advice would be appreciated.
  2. okay im up for it too. London is better (surely more people will come?) but Cambridge is fine (and its beautiful).
  3. I've just been reading everyone else's goals, and everyone seems to have SMARTer goals, so I am probably going to change these before Monday! Any feedback on where I can add more detail would be welcome.
  4. Wow your plan is good. I feel like I should have put more detail into mine. I'm sure you are half way there already!
  5. Very excited about this challenge... As you can see from the picture HERE: I have a bit of abdominal fat: I am a bit of a boozer and a party animal (although still a total nerd). Not only that I have skinny arms as I haven't worked out the past. My main quest is to reduce my body fat percentage and to become noticeably fitter in the process. As someone who has quit smoking, my cardiovascular efficiency is not where it should be. I want to be faster and stronger. Over the next six weeks this means I will do the following: I am scheduled to run a 10k in September. I want to be able to run a 10k in six weeks in under 55 minutes. I will do this by running at least 3-4k twice a week.I will eat 4 days a week of super healthy eating (low-GI, grain-light, protein-heavy meal days), and will record this by keeping a DAILY food diary.I will learn how to lift by following instructions on this site, and on the net, and develop a strength work-out that is manageable but challenging. My motivations for achieving this are explained in my main post HERE but to summarise: I am quitting smoking, and I don't want to gain weight. I am by no means disgusting, but I've let myself go in the last few years. When I was 18 (9 years ago) I cycled from Vienna, Austria; to Bratislava, Slovakia; and then to Budapest in Hungary in just over a week. On a terrible bike with only one gear. Now I get tired walking up the escalator sometimes! My life quest is to create budget as I am moving house, and I have just paid of my credit card by getting a low interest loan. So I want to make sure my finances are in order.. I will set a budget and see if I can stick to it for the month of August. LET THE REBELLION BEGIN!
  6. Feeling pretty pumped reading this post... can't wait for my first challenge...!
  7. Thanks Duality! Yes the cravings were pretty bad but the exercise has really worked. I have the momentum now, so I am going to keep going. Well I'm 5ft 9 inches, and I am about 80kg... (27 years old this week) I definitely don't feel super fat, but a lot of my fat is abdominal, and I was worried that I would continue growing in the belly department. I have a chubby face when I put on unhealthy beer pounds! I wouldn't mind losing 5 - 10kg in the first instance, but mostly its about reducing my body fat, raising my metabolism, and improving my aerobic capacity as my lungs try to heal themselves. Not sure what my goals should be but at the moment they are: Weigh 70kg by October Reduce body fat percentage significantly (through strength training coupled with fat burning cardio) but not sure how to measure this goal yet Run a 10km run in September. I have only run 10km once. Been starting to do 5km runs but I have to have a break in the middleI have signed up to the gym and I go to this circuit work out called Armegeddon which is great. It makes my sweat buckets and its all push-ups, squat-thrusts and weights etc. I feel like I want to vom, but I know its good for me. The rest of the week I run 3-5km twice a week, and try and do some planks and and some weights. But honestly I have no idea what I am really doing to be honest with this...
  8. I'm new today I just joined the Rebellion today after following the blog for a few weeks. I am a science teacher in London so a total nerd, although I have an active social life. I have was motivated to do something about my health as I have started to become a heavier and heavier smoker, and after 10 years of smoking I wanted to destroy that filthy habit but wanted to focus on exercise and diet that would keep my metabolism up (it drops when you quit smoking). I hate the quit smoking websites as they are all about "NOT SMOKING" (its impossible to keep trying NOT to do something without focusing on something else), and to be honest I wanted to think about positive goals that I could distract myself with. I also broke my leg last year (I drunkenly jumped over a wheely bin and broke my fibula) and that meant I stopped exercising for a LONG TIME. I made excuses to myself the whole time, and I ended up drinking and smoking too much. The ending was that I gained about 22lb heavier than my original weight in only a few months. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I quit smoking almost a month ago, and every time I feel like I want a smoke I eat LOADS of vegetables or lean meat to fill me up (close to a full Paleo diet, but occasionally I like toast, or a burger!), or I run, do press-ups, planks etc. I know have more motivation than I ever have done as I feel I have SO MUCH MORE ENERGY... can't wait to try the six week challenge. Like to see myself as a slightly chubby LINK from the Legend of Zelda... a massive underdog but with the Triforce of Courage, anything is possible. Looking for tips for good fitness / achievement goals. Please share with me. Alex
