  1. The Drunken Barmaid forgives you! Always remember that RL comes before us, so always take care of yourself. Also, congrats on the new position? Can't tell if you're happy about it or not, lol. Keep up the good work!
  2. Looks like you've had an interesting week! Glad you figured it out. I like what your mom said about the job, that it'll be easier to save with the higher paying job while you job hunt. Looking forward to more updates.
  3. The boots weren’t the only thing jazzy had spent a little gold on in town. In fact, she’d purchased a little surprise for her ship, something she hoped the rest of her crew would like and would help their moral. She eyed the shipment of supplies then checked the placement of the sun. There wasn’t a lot of time before she had to pick up her purchase. She frowned slightly to herself, knowing she wouldn’t be able to help move the supplies on board, but she’d make it up to her crew, even if that meant giving up some of her ration of rum. Leaving her first mate, dsavage, in charge, she hurried off in to town. If she hurried, she’d be back in time to help out. Maybe. Or not. As it turned out, when she got to the shop, her item was not yet completed. Something about running out of supplies and having to go get more. She huffed as she sat by the door, watching the people walk by. She liked people watching, coming up with a story for each person who walked past her. Like that man there with the peg leg. He was once a mighty strong wrestler, until one fight his opponent cheated and bit him just before he was counted out. The bite got infected and his leg had to be removed, but he never gave up wrestling. Was this true? Probably not. Who cared? “Ma’am?†Jazzy looked up as the shop keeper held out a brown paper wrapped package. “I am so very sorry for the wait.†She waved it off. “No need ta be worrin’ mate. I prefer a well done job than a hurried slap job.†She grinned and took off into the crowd. She groaned as she came to the ships at the dock. They’d already finished loading the ships. She was definitely going to have the share out her rum amongst her crew. “Ladies!†she called as she climbed the gang plank. “Great work ye did today! I’m sorry I missed it, but I had other things to get fer us in town.†She held up the brown package. Her crew mumbled amongst themselves, thoughts of what such a small package could be. “I can see ye want to know what it is, and ta be honest, I can’t wait ta show ye.†She tore the package open and unrolled the black fabric that lay folded up within. “Welcome aboard the Drunken Barmaid, girls! Hoist the colors!†She skipped along the deck and hooked up their new flag, raising it into the air, followed by cheers from the crew.
  4. Ha! As of yesterday, I made it back up to Beast mode! A new marker has been hit, 42 days with no soda! On to Super Beast mode
  5. Wooo, you can do it! I love your rewards, as well, great motivation. Keep it up!
  6. The storm had been raging for day, nay near over a week now. Somewhere in there. Jazzy had lost count of the days. The sky was so dark that there was no telling when it was morning or night. There just was nothing but the endless waves and torrents of rain, the thunder and the lightening, the severe listing of the ship. At first, Jazzy tried to keep at her positions around the ship, keeping up with her duties. There weren't even that many and for a while, she had been doing well. But there comes a point where enough darkness and skin-blistering rain to the face wears right through you. She started staying below deck more, curled up in her hammock, waiting for the storm to end. She'd lost count of the days, eating the food brought to her. Eating more than she knew she could but... she didn't have it in her to fight against it. The food felt so good in her stomach while the storm raged around her. Sometimes she'd poke her head out, look at the sky, deal with the needle rain on her face. As she worked, trying to pull herself back together and do her job, she'd check the horizon, but there would be no sun on the horizon, or anywhere else. Feeling defeated, she'd duck below deck again, trying to protect herself from the torrential downpour. As she woke, still not knowing if it was day or night, she noticed something different. The ship wasn't rocking nearly as heavily, and it was quiet, quieter than it had been in she didn't know how long. Forcing herself from her hammock, she stumbled up the stairs to the deck. The sky was still dark from horizon to horizon, but the rain had lightened to a drizzle. Had she caught a reprieve, the eye of the storm? How long would this last? Shaking herself slightly, she slowly moved into one of her few jobs, hoping beyond hope that this storm would pass soon and that when the eye passed, that she could keep above the waves and trudge on.
  7. Yay! Glad to see you back on the bandwagon! Keep it up!
  8. ShadowLion, when I click on the spreadsheet link you posted, it tells me I need permission to see the sheet. Is it just my comp or account or something? Oop, now it works
  9. I am so bad! I haven't gotten around ta followin' me fellow CutLass! But 'ere I am! Hope everything is still going well for you. Don't give up!
  10. I think you are very inspiring because of what you do and being out of shape while you do it. I look at all the half marathons and stuff that I want to do and I tell myself that I'll get to it when I'm thinner and can actually do it. I love seeing you trying and finishing and wanting to do more triathlons. Keep it up and don't let the doubters get you down. You're better than that.
  11. Congrats on the weight loss! I think you should stick with the challenge and just change up your goals, it's never too late for that. I say sign up for everything is you'll always have the "what if" thing going. If you try it and find you don't finish, at least you tried! You're already ahead of those who didn't. You can do anything you put your mind to. Also, if you make the quilt, must see pics!
  12. Woohoo!!! You did it and you finished! Who cares if you were last? You finished!! I see that you sew a little and I'm no sure if you quilt at all, but I saw a quilt made of runner's bibs, like this You just copy our bib on to a printable fabric and make it into a quilt. I want to do that when I get into half marathons and such. Maybe you could do that with your triathlon bibs. Keep it up and good luck!
  13. Hope you're still kicking butt. Come back to us soon!
  14. Congrats on already losing the 2 inches off your waist! For the half marathon, I think the C25k program either has a half marathon program or has a link to one. Lemme look. *a quick search later* If you go here and scroll all the way down then up just a smidge, the second to last section is titled After C25k; 10k and beyond and has stuff there. Looks like you might have to pay for the 10k thing from that first website, but if you poke around, you might find more on the c25k site.
  15. Omg, shrimps look and are terrible! My, my bff, and one of my brother's all tried it and couldn't do them. My brother kinda did it in intermediate style but jeez! If you can do even one, then you rock, chickie! I'm jealous of your new flexibility. Though I never could touch the floor with more than the tips of my fingers.
  16. I agree with those above that I really liked the ship-against-ship battles. I'll think on some challenges. Do we have a storyline this time like we did last challenge?
  17. Thank you everyone! I've been to the doctor's today (my allergic reaction cause post nasal drip which caused my throat to be swollen this morning) and I have lost another 2 pounds! I'm at 297! For story, I'm trying to think of ways to make it more interesting. More story will come soon! Also, sorry for not being around. Things are rough in RL and I've been on the super depressed route these last few days. I'm trying to kick my ass into a better gear and getting back here. More stuff soon!
  18. I suck at writing these things, I really do. I need to set a reminder for myself to update this daily. It's worked for my BC pills, it can work for this! This week, I've gone over my calories once, written only twice, and as of today, I reached 28 days with no soda. Also, I weighed in with my dietician on Tuesday and I'm officially under 300lbs again! I'm down to 299, which is a 1 pound loss for the challenge and a 6 pound loss overall. So happy, so proud.
  19. Woo 7 pull ups! Anything over one is amazing, cause I can't even do one, so 7 just blows my mind. Keep it up! I'm sure you can find another one in your area, or one you can at least get to easily enough. Good luck and don't give up.
  20. What are "shrimps"? I'm just imagining some weird thing like doing the worm, but on your side. I'm sure that's the complete other direction of what it actually is, but it makes me giggle. How is the 30-day yoga challenge? Would you say it's something a beginner would do? My arms get all wiggly just doing the downward dog, lol. Keep up the good work!
  21. Crutches suck. I never lasted more than a day on them, but only once was I told I couldn't put pressure on my foot, and when that happened, I stayed in my room. If I needed to go downstairs, I slid on my butt then crawled back up the stairs. Hopped to the bathroom. It was so much better than using the crutches, but it was really lonely for a whole week. Used water bottles to work my arms. Don't let the crutches defeat you! I wonder if crutching around counts as some kind of exercise? It wipes you out like exercise does! Hope it gets easier!
  22. You can do it!! It is so awesome that you are putting yourself into the things you want to do and not letting anything hold you back. So you had a bad week, it happens. What's important is that you didn't let it stop you. You got back up on that horse. Kick that triathlon's butt!
  23. Jazzy pulled herself up on to a barrel and stood tall, looking at the crew milling about the deck. “Oy!†she called out, waving her arms around. “I be wantin' ta make an announcement!†She waited until she had their attention. “Our good captain has seen fit ta let me have me own ship and I've chosen a few of you ta join me aboard The Drunken Barmaid.†She pulled a piece of paper from the leather pouch hanging from her waist. “It was a hard choice. Yer all great pirates, but after hard thinkin', I've picked a few of you ta join me. Elfikay!†The pirate in question hobbled forward, taking care not to use her recently injured foot. “Ready and willing, cap'n!†Jazzy grinned. “Welcome aboard. Dsavage!†The girl in question came forward excitedly. “Aye don't know what Aye'm signing up for, but Ae'm ready, cap'n!†Jazzy nodded at her. “Welcome aboard, then, dsavage! Ornata, come on up!†“Count me aboard, Cap'n!†a voice called from the group before the face came to the front. “Welcome aboard! And...†Jazzy stopped and looked around. “There's one more on me list but... I don't see her...†-- I'm waiting for my last crew member to decide if she's up for joining me crew. Will update when I hear back.
