  1. Damn! You're killing it with those lifts. I really don't know anything about form or lifting in general, so I may not be the best to say. But I am impressed! Wowza!
  2. After my parents divorced and my dad moved to another state, he used to record himself reading kids books and send them to my brother and I. Then we would follow along in our copies of the books. Before we could even read. Best gifts ever. I loved those tapes. I thank my parents for giving me my love of reading.
  3. Any tips for those of us who are unable to use the apps? There are at least two of us. Or are we just unable to participate?
  4. You can choose to identify with an existing companion. But I'm more interested in getting myself ready for being a companion. And the exercises aren't assignments. Just a bit of themed fun. Obviously, you can take them on as part of your challenge. But I'm not wanting to pile more things on to people who are already dealing with goals. I know I plan on pull-ups being part of a future challenge. But I have basics to work on now. Sounds like you're not much of a Martha fan. I'm really not. I love Donna, though. You are working with similar goals to myself. I'm doing the BBWW 3x a week as a challenge goal. And another challenge goal is to eat only food prepared at home. Not part of my challenge, but I'm trying to check in more, too. You're right. The BBWW is perfect for companion prep. Right after a session I feel like I could take on an entire Sontaran Battle Fleet. Although, shortly after that, I feel like a little baby adipose could kick my bum. Could you explain to me what an "RM" is? It's probably really obvious, but it's lost on me.
  5. I'm so jealous of everyone and their fun with The Walk. It makes me want a new phone.
  6. Great to see you're back at it. Holidays are rotten. And I know how much of a strain work changes can impose on your life. At least you're back at it. Good on you!
  7. Oh, and thank goodness I didn't have a lot of physical tasks at work today. I hurt. Everywhere.
  8. They say money doesn't buy happiness, but it sure would alleviate quite a bit of my stress. Thanks for the encouragement. Tried to update last night. But I couldn't sign on. Don't know if it was the site or my computer. I deleted my cookies and turned the computer off. I was going for a restart, but it was late so I went to bed. Something worked. Here I am. So, Tuesday morning I dove into the BBWW. I was pretty wiped from the warm-up alone, but I more or less made it through one circuit. It took more time than I would've preferred. A bit more resting than is preferable. But I got through. Next time won't be so bad. This morning I went for a half hour walk. It's getting to the point that it's hot even before the sun comes up. I'm pretty sensitive to the heat. Most people thought today was a great day. I was miserable. And it's only April I'll get through it, though. Been doing good about prepping my meals at night so I have them in the morning. So far, a great start to week 2.
  9. Um. I won't have a working phone for 2 weeks. I can use it with wi-fi, but that won't help me on my walks. It won't track me. So I can only estimate my distance and I won't be able to use it with those apps. Plus, it looks like many of those on the list are incompatible with my phone. Does this just count me out from being able to participate?
  10. What a great first week! Please pop in and share your success with your fellow Companions in training. We've had a quiet board and I'm trying to get a bit more momentum going there. I know we can all benefit from the inspiration of each others successes. Hope to see you in there soon. And here's to kicking week 2's butt!
  11. Happy birthday! I hope you had fun. Despite the pizza disappointment. It's probably better. Now you won't be craving it post b-day. I went paleo on my first challenge. I loved it. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be and I got to experiment with cooking. I usually hate to cook. But it was kinda fun trying new things out. Especially when I got the thumbs up from my family on whatever I made. The only reason I'm not doing paleo this challenge is that my biggest concern for the coming year is keeping a tight budget. Paleo can be somewhat on the expensive side. Just wanted to give you a little nudge over to Companions in Training. It's been a pretty quiet group and I'm trying to get a bit more chatting going. So if you can spare some time, I know everyone could benefit from the inspiration of what is working out to be a very spectacular challenge for you. Hope to see you there.
  12. Okay, don't feel so bad for it now. Glad to know I'm not the only one who relies on being read to from time to time
  13. What a wonderful first week. I am so jealous of your hike. I absolutely love hiking. When you're out there with all of nature and taking in all that beauty and fresh air, a workout just feels great. Sure, you're exhausted when you finish. But during is so euphoric. I'll eventually have to make hiking a priority in a future challenge. Sounds like the sleep is getting to be trouble for you. I can understand. Just do what is best for you and hopefully you can get a better schedule going when life better lends itself to it. Congrats on your other goal successes, though. You are killing it!
  14. Thanks for the encouragement everyone! First week has been mostly good. Friday and Saturday I got rained out from walking. I did manage to get it in on Sunday morning. But that didn't meet my goal of 3 times a week. On Friday I did jump rope in my garage for some cardio. Saturday I worked on form for both lunges and wall push-ups. I have decent form for the push-ups, so moved on to the lunges. As with the squats I'm going to hold onto something for balance until I get better. My eating goal was okay. Saturday and Sunday I didn't give myself enough time to prepare a meal and ended up getting something at work. I'll be working on getting something prepared before I go to bed at night. As for my life goal. I got paid on Friday and immediately got my car payment taken care of. I also have my insurance to pay. But I'm waiting on my brother to give me his bit. I'm trying my best not to spend what I have before we can pay it. As I mentioned. It will take me some time to get caught up with everything. As a result, my phone (prepaid) turned off today for lack of payment. I probably won't be able to rectify that until next payday, two weeks As for the start of week two. Today went well. I went on a walk this morning. I got to take an hour since I didn't need to be at work right away. I also got to sleep in for a bit. It was so nice. No food from outside my house today. Tomorrow morning I hope to do at least one circuit of the BBWW. I can't manage too much before my body gives up on me. But I hope I can complete 3 circuits before the six weeks are done. I'll do my best to keep up with the updates. I have been jumping on here regularly. But I usually only have a few minutes. So I'll post on someone else's thread or on my accountablibuddy group. But I'll try and be better with the updates.
  15. You are doing fantastic! I am in awe. So inspiring. I wish I would've checked in with your challenge earlier. But I'm glad I saw it now. I was bopping around making sure I got all the Companions in Training linked and I checked in with everyone. Our group has been pretty quiet, but I'm trying to get thinks moving a bit. I hope you'll stop by and share your successes this past week with us all. We also are trying for a little themed conversation. Hope to see you there soon. Keep up the amazing work, you awesome rebel, you!
  16. Just one of your fellow Companions in Training checking up on you. Want to hear how your first week went. I hope you're doing well. Check in and let us all know. If you're needing any encouragement, just ask. You have a whole forum full of people who want to see you succeed. Also, come check in with our accountabilibuddy group and join in on the conversation. Hope to see an update soon!
  17. Great work! You seem to be very committed to your challenges. Congratulations on being half way through your PLP. You have some great momentum going. Keep it up. Although you may not be where you'd like with your life goal, it's good that you acknowledge where you're lacking and you have a plan to get on track with it. You're update has been quite inspiring.
  18. I keep hearing about The Walk and I really want to try it. Unfortunately, my phone is not compatible with it. I guess I'll have to wait until a different version or I have a different phone. Glad to hear that you are progressing well. 3 miles is quite a bit. For me, anyway. I hope to get to that point eventually. At the moment I really only have time for half an hour. Walking is part of my challenge. I hope to be able to transition to jogging soon so that I may get more work done in those 30 minutes. Are you enjoying your walks? Running and jumping are definitely great exercises for companion training. Essential skills for keeping up with the Doctor. I don't think the hammer swing would be possible for me at this point, either. Seems like it could really work you out. I'd probably hurt myself if I tried it now. I'd like to add bleachers/stairs and pull-ups. I get pretty winded on stairs and I couldn't pull myself up anything at this point. But I'll get there. As for my first week. I've done well. I managed to get my exercises in. But I've only been so-so on my eating goal. My goal was to only eat food from home. I spend a lot of money on junk from work. For the most part I've managed. But there were 2 days that I didn't leave myself enough time to get food together before work. I've been trying to remember to get things prepared before I go to bed at night. But I have trouble thinking about it in time.
  19. It's the end of the first week. We haven't been very active in this group, and that is mostly my fault. I've been bad about checking in regularly. I only have about 10 minutes right now, so I can't post around a lot. When I get home from work tonight I will go around and see how everyone is doing and send out some messages to touch base. I hope we can get this group rolling some more for the next 5 weeks. So, I'd love to know how everyone is doing and how you've done with your goals one week in. Also, to get a little talk going here, I'm going to ask for some input. I want you all to come up with at least one exercise that you think will prepare you for life with the Doctor. I know there are some Doctor Who circuits out there already. But I want you all to think of something. I'll put my ideas up as well. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
  20. I need more buddies, too. Wanna be friends Oh, I fingerpaint like nobody's business.
  21. Started an Accountabilibuddy group and I'm making some new friends. I feel like I just came home from kindergarten and I'm reporting my day to my mom lol +1 Charisma
  22. Ended up crashing. I'm still not used to these early mornings. Then spent the next day (day off work) hangin' with my friend, the mother of the kids I was watching. Phone didn't plan on it, so no computer or phone the whole day. So, here's the update. Been doing really good with eating only food from home. Except yesterday at friend's. But we ate her home food. Need to get better food, though. Haven't been able to shop and the food at home is not the healthiest. I did pick up some eggs, so I got that. Walked Monday morning for about half an hour. Could've kept going, but I don't have that much time in the morning. Can't walk after work because my legs hurt when I get home and it's so hot out. I'll have to get ready to start jogging. Need to cover more space in less time. Tuesday morning and this morning I worked on squats to prepare myself for BBWW. I have trouble with my balance and keeping good form. I'm didn't count the squats because I'm just worried about making sure they look good. If I steady myself on the TV stand I can get good form. I'll just have to hope that balance will come with muscle growth. Spent about 20 minutes both mornings alternating the squats with some calf raises. The calf raises feel good when my legs get tired of squats. I've been hurting since Tuesday. Less today. We'll see how I feel in the morning. I'll get up early again tomorrow and go for another walk. Depending on how my legs are feeling tomorrow, I may try some jogging bursts. Ugh! Nearly bedtime already. I'd much rather stay up late than wake up early. Sorry for the lack of posting. I'll try to be better. Late at night has always been my computer time. Now it's my sleeping time. I'll get my weight on here. And see if I can get some other measurements. I'm trying to get my aunt's tape measure. I don't have easy access to a scale, either, right now. But I'll try and use my mom's. Thanks for the encouragement and poking from everyone. Good to feel like people are keeping me accountable.
  23. Yes! Would love one. I really wish I still had my JROTC 1st Sgt. running behind me yelling "Don't let me catch up!"
  24. That sounds so awesome. I would love to challenge them with some rarity lol I'll be having my Boston family giving me some hints, too, when it comes closer to time. But I've spent most of my life in tough areas. I can survive most. Yay!!! Sweet! I'll definitely have to hit you up when I'm getting ready to go. One question for now: my brother (he's moving with me) and I are looking at rentals online to keep us inspired and give us ideas of what we'll be looking at. But we just look around on craigslist. What are some good sites to look at rentals? I can't wait. I'll have to set up an "ObsessedFan Arrives" meetup! I love the walking. I tried to spend my 3 days there last February just walking around. But I wore my brother out and had to cut down. We took the T to the Common and after a few laps around and up and down Beacon we tried going to Chinatown. He didn't make it and insisted we get directly back to the hotel lol I'll definitely let you all know when I'm there so we can nerd it up. Thanks for the info. I've had a hard time finding which areas I should be looking. Not knowing where would be too far out. I've been to Boston many a time growing up. But always for family things and didn't really get to go out and explore. Never got farther than down the street from my Grammy's house As long as I can easily get to the T, I'll be happy. I do have family in Quincy, but I'm thinking it might be too far out. Trail-running is something I really want to try when I get my endurance up. Pavement is hard on the knees. People around here don't understand why I want to be in a city and "far away from nature". I try to explain that nature isn't that far away. I can find it easy. Don't I wish. Need lots of $$$ before I can, though My brother and I keep hoping we'll win the lotto (without playing) and be able to move right away. Have to save money. I have one trip planned right before we move to settle with apartment and jobs. But I have to stay put until then and just visit virtually.
