  1. I have been working out for about 30 days. I have lost 8 pounds so far. I have not started the paleo diet but I have greatly altered my old diet by cutting out bread at every possible chance, ditching pop and other sugar drinks, and adding a trip to the gym or a 5 mile bike ride a minimum of 5 days a week. I am already becoming a junkie as I am cranky on the days I cannot work in the gym Main Quest: - Get healthier! I have had horrible food habits for as long as I can remember. I crave suger pretty much non-stop. I want to continue to have a healthier diet and cutting out more junk as I go. I want to start weight training and I have gotten some great feedback on where to start already in the forum. I will be participating in my first 5K at the end of September and I want to finish it as strong as I can. Goals: - Go to gym 3-4 times a week and on a bike ride1-2 days a week to keep my routine from becoming mundane. - Make healthy food choices when I go out regardless of what unhealthy options are available. I track all of my food in a program so that will help me hold myself accountable - Drink more water. Up until about a month ago water was my enemy. I hated the taste and could hardly bring myself to drink it on a regular basis. I have started drinking more and more water, but I know that I am still not drinking as much as I should. Life Side Quest - Continue counseling to work through personal stressors. Motivation -My self esteem and my family. I want to be happy with who I am physically. Currently I am very disappointed in myself physically, because I know all of the weight gain is mine alone. I do not strive to be skinny, but I want to look like I have seen a gym at some point in my life. I also want to take pictures with my kids and my husband and not hate them strictly becasue I am in them. I want to be happy in my own skin and I want to live a long, healthy, active life with my family. I’m looking forward to doing this challenge, and good luck to everyone!
  2. Thank you for all of the input. I don't think I asked the question I was trying to get information for correctly. I am thrilled I am loosing weight and how much I have lost. My question is what strength training exercises I should start with. How to do them, how often, things along those lines. I don't expect a workout plan, but maybe a link to this information if you have it.
  3. I read Speezy's story last night and I am a very similar to her story minus the smoking. I am 4'11 inches and have been working out for the past month. I have gone from 178 pound to 171 pounds. I keep fluctuating back and forth between 171 and 173. I have been doing cardio on the elliptical and eating much healthier, but I feel like I should be loosing more weight and looking more toned by now. Even though I have lost the weight I do not look it. I have four kids and I want my pre-baby body back or as close as I can get. How do I get started in weight lifting? I lifted in high school, but i remember nothing of what I did. Any help would be appreciated.
