  1. Unless you are a trainer at the gym you should leave people alone. If they are doing something wrong/dangerous let the staff know. Most people even with the right intention can come off creepy when offering help at the gym, especially if it's a male to female. I've seen it happen so many times. Good to see you are getting good results. Keep up the good work Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Didn't get around to doing a proper update. Unfortunately had to do major bathroom repairs over the weekend and still going. Due to that the being healthy has gone out the window e.g take out and no exercise. Hopefully get the bathroom finished this week and try not to undo my good work. I quickly weighed myself on Saturday and I had lost 2.8 kg for the week. Not bad for to many carbs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Time for a quick update. Will post a proper one on Sunday. Eating this week has been mostly good, a little too many carbs but I'm working on cutting it down. Had some chocolate last night and maybe a little too much as we'll. Haven't had much time for exercising but trying to keep my self active when I can. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Happy birthday. Can't go wrong with a good pulled pork. My wife doesn't eat meat and my son has allergies and can't eat pork. So I don't get to eat it often. Too much fruit is better than too much sweets. If it helps to stop/reduce eating sweets it's a fine. You can always work on cutting down on the fruit later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. good to see you are back as well. just take it easy as you get back into it. i felt like i didn't do too much in my first session back, but i can definitely feel it now. i look forward to seeing your progress
  6. ok so i am back on nf and trying to get fit again. i guess getting in shape is like most lifestyle changes as there can be many failed attempts. but if you learn and keep trying then 1 day it might actually happen. so new year lets try and make this happen. instead of starting a new blog thought i might as well continue this one. i currently weigh 138.2kg and ideally want to be as fit and strong as possible. i currently don't have access to a gym as money is tight and i don't have any weights besides a kettlebell. i recently got some rings which i have set up in the backyard and got a 20kg bag of sand. so most of my exercise will be based around body weight and stuff you can do with a sandbag and kettlebell. once i can save some money i will hopefully buy a second hand olympic bar and weights but no rush. today i did 35 minutes fasted walk pushing a pram with a 2 year old in and walking a dog in a slightly hilly area. i also did some single leg squats using the rings for balance, inverted rows and dips both with the rings. food wise it was ok, most likely a little too many carbs but better than i would usually eat.
  7. hi all, it has been a while since i have been on around here and its time to get back on. life has been flat out since i was last on. I had lost my sales job in feb and had to go back to my old job. theres about 5 weeks till my second child is born. a new year is about to start so time to get back into it and try and get fit again. i dont have access to a gym so i will using some free weights that i have and walking/running. i plan to set up a chin up bar in the backyard and make up something similar to a trx. so i will hopefully start tomorrow.
  8. Hi, this challenge will be different from my other challenges as my life has completely changed for the worse and I need to get it back on track. Fitness is not the main focus. Yes I realise that this is generally a fitness website but sometimes you have to start with the mental side first. Just a brief summary of where I am at. I am suffering from depression and am on medication, which makes me tired and not feel the best. My wife has threatened to leave me and take my son away from me several times. I am trying to fix things with her but she is not happy and I am running out of ideas. We have started to have actually conversations about it instead of fighting and yelling at each other which is an improvement. I was fired from my job a week ago and have had to go back to work for my dad which means 50 plus hours a week and a whole lot of other issues. The plus side is more money but between work and coming home and looking after my son and trying to do things around the house, there is not much time for anything else. There is more but I am not going to go into it. So is challenge I am going to try and get things at home to improve, as I want to stay with my wife and try to make it so we are both happy. I don't want my son growing up with parents who all ways fight or are separated as it is not far for him. To do this I have to try and be a better husband and pull my weight more around the house and be less selfish. I am going to try and get into couple therapy to try and resolve the issues. I am looking at starting my own business but am limited on time to work on it. So I will have to set a side time to work on it. Hopefully I should have all of my coatings by this week end that I can start to call people and try to sell them the product. Which well be hard as I don't have it as I don't have the money to make it (drain cleaning trailer) hopefully some one will by one or give me some funding to build the first one to make Inge easier. If this does not work I know a guy who is looking to sell these equipment and has a job for me starting in may. S there is all ways a back up. However if I can get it going myself I will be doing the same work and making me money instead of making him money and getting a salary. I also have to start organising more things to do with my son instead of just playing with him at home. I have all ready started by taking him out on Saturday and Sunday to different parks. So we can go to the zoo and places like that. So I will be looking to do that at least once a week. I will be trying to eat healthier as it is easier than trying to find time to exercise and I am unfortunately an emotional eater as fat bastard from Austin powers said, I eat when I am depressed and I'm depressed cause I eat. It's a vicious cycle hat I have to stop. If I can do that I will be come healthier. I will try to exercise at least once a week. This maybe taking my son for a walk or kb exercises. Baby steps. As I get more organised I may increase this if I have time. This is all I can think off at this time. Not going to post any stats as this is not my focus. Not the most exciting challenge but one that needs to be done.
  9. good luck, keep up the good work.

Well done, what an awesome effort.

  12. thanks again for the info. i agree with wordpress/blogger hosting my site that i am at there mercy. the only reason i went with blogger for now is i can use my domain name and they will host free of charge. I will defentely spend a bit of time researching a company to host the site when/if it gets to the point. I still think i will use wordpress software as i watched a few youtube videos and it seems very easy to use. Plus i have used a couple different emails for bits and pieces and the domain name is registered to a different account. so worst case if i ever get hacked i can shut down the hole site quickly and i have the blogged backed up so i can start another account and copy it across until i get the original one back up.
  13. Well I have been eating ok so far. Haven't been able to any exercise yet, but my blog is up and running and currently have 160 Facebook likes. So a decent start but a long way to go. Need to get to work on some more recipes.
  14. Ok the blog is up and running using blogger with my domain name check it out at http://www.manmeetsthermo.com I only have a couple of recipes up at the moment. Thanks everyone for your help. especially Wondertje for the help with blogger. Its good out if i get enough people coming to the site i will probable get a host and use word press. you seem to be able to do a lot more a lot easier. but it will do for now
  15. Thank you for the help. The current face book page is https://www.facebook.com/ManMeetsThermo The point of the blog is to give recipes for man pleasing meals made with a thermomix (will put in directions for people without thermomix when possible) as most websites seem to cater to woman. in the last 12 hours we have had about 140 people like us and most of them are women. which is funny as mentioned it is based towards men go figure and we have only been posting links to other peoples pages with recipes. We will also be including Paleo, dairy free, nut free and other recipes for people with dietary requirements. my son has FPIES and it is not fun and he can't eat a lot of store brought packages food due to reactions. It is amazing how many things rice flour is in. My wife also cooks for a elderly couple who have very strict food requirements and heard stories from them about how hard it is to get good that they can eat that tastes decent. So it is a niche market blog wise. i brought a domain name last night from namecheap.com as they seemed to be one of the cheaper ones and i have heard good things about them. The domain name is www.manmeetsthermo.com I will look into blogger, if i can set it up with out using a host yet that would be great. As i would like to start publishing my own recipes and get people on my site as opposed to linking to others. If the site kicks off i might look into hosting somewhere else and using wordpress or similar later on.
  16. Happy New Year everyone. A New Year brings a new beginning with new challenges. I no longer have a gym membership and put a bit to much extra weight over Christmas. Properly more than what is really acceptable. Main Challenge: To continue to get fit and strong, whilst dropping fat. I will do this with cardio, body weight and kettle bell exercises. To do this I want train at least 3 days a week. Body weight/ kettle bell exercises get preference over cardio. I will also need to eat healthy and cut out the snacking. The wife has brought a thermomix which will make cooking healthy food quicker and easier. Side Quests: As usual to be a better person and improve myself. To start a blog that will hopefully help with my wife's business and who knows in a couple of years it might make some money, lol. Plus give me something constructive to do out side of work. I started a page on Facebook and once i get enough info on there i will start a proper website. maybe in a month or 2. No point starting a website when i have nothing to put on it. I will have to look into buying a domain name and for someone to host it. IT seems WordPress is the go to for blogs.
  17. Hi, I am looking to start a food blog with recipes and such, i have started using a Facebook page (started last night) and at some point in the near future i would like to move it to its own website and just use the FB page for links for new blogs etc. I just have a few questions so i can try and set this up properly so i dont make life harder later. Should i buy a Domain name now? it seems cheap around $12. thhis way i don't risk losing it later on. If i do by a domain name can i link it to my FB page till i decide to build my own site? so if they type my website address eg example.com it will ten redirect to my facebook page eg facebook.com/example? Once i decide to start the actual website what is the best program/way to set up for a blog, I have heard word press is good, is there any others? If you have any other information that you think will help it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
  18. i get 6 days off plus the week end so not much but better than working a normal week. I have to try and start running a using my kb again
  19. comp ended and i finsihed in 4 place. so kind of happy with that. since then it has all gone to crap. work sucks life at home is crap. son wont sleep so no one is sleeping, so i haven't been going to the gym. i have had to cancle my gym membership as i haven't been going as i am too tired from not sleeping and the wife is complaining about the cost. i have been eating crap as i stress eat. so no idea what i am going to do.
  20. sorry for the lack of posts last week. it has been a very stressful week, between work, my son not sleeping which means no one sleeps in the house and that causing a lot of tension in the house. I have lost 15 kg in the challenge. 17 cm off my waist, 14 cm of my chest and 4 cm off my hips. Hopefully i will know by the end of the week if i won or not.
  21. I have taken them before and didn't see much difference. Only used them for a few weeks. According to lean gains I needed to use it 4 times a day. That's about 112 cals when I am meant to be fasting. I know it's a small amount in the grand scheme but as mentioned before it will slow it down. As mentioned there are a lot of contradictions out there. But if you are getting enough protein/carbs/fats each day I think you should be right
  22. Yeah I know the feeling about less help/interest on some challenge threads. You kind of have to spark people's interest at the start or have similar goals to someone else who reads your thread. Plus the more friends you have the more people read your post which keeps it up the top and then more people read and follow. Plus there are a lot of challenges going on to make it hard to follow everyone. I have been slack this challenge in a lot of regards especially reading and trying to help others. So I can't blame people for the lack of interest in mine when I am doing the same to there's. In the other sections on the board I feel you get a lot more help. But the same problem in it depends on how many new threads come on and how many reply to keep it near the top. Good luck with the squats. ATG.
  23. Exactly what I thought and a habit I am trying to break. Only once a week, no more. Starting to feel better. Hopefully I am right by Monday and I will restart my challenge.
  24. interesting article about a guy trying to prove why you shouldn't worry about weight fluctuations with scales. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2507184/I-lost-nearly-2-stone-24-HOURS-Sport-scientist-proves-rapid-weight-loss-IS-possible-youre-prepared-exercise-wearing-bin-bags-eat-carbs-drink-nothing.html
