  1. Thanks a lot Darwins_demon ! Sorry I Did not answer earlier. I think you're absolutely right, pizza without cheese simply isn't pizza. Thanks for comforting me in that regard. I'll try your suggestions and tell you about it. As for the rest... It's kind of encouraging, I'm getting to the real challenge, but then it's also the difficult part. I tried the calorie calculator you suggested. I get to counting calories ( I hate to do that ) and see what is what. Daggart - In addition to the good advice from Darwins_demon... I kind of had the same problem. My usual unhealty habits were to skip breakfast, eat lightly at lunch and go all out on dinner, stopping caring about my diet and ingesting far more than I needed. I found out that the more I felt hungry during the day, the more chance I had to get huge cravings at night, as if my body was taking it's revenge for being starved during the day. I started to eat less but more frequently, lots of snacks ( healthy snacks mind you, like nuts, fruits and veggies) and it helped me. Low Blood sugar is my enemy, as it makes my body crave for bad food. I know it's one on these conventional wisdom thing that is debunked on this site (you need to eat every three hours to lose weight). But it helped me, not to lose weight, but to keep my cravings in check and gear towards more healthy eating habits. Stress and/or boredom might also have to do with it. I know that I have much more chance to overeat when I'm at home, because I'v got my fridge full of food and anytime I'm bored or stresse I go take a look in the fridge and have a snack, wether i'm hungry or not. The only way to deal with that for me is to ban any food that can get me off tracks. I still eat out of stress, but the only thing I got to do that is baby carrots, so it's not has bad a grilled cheese or something. Superultrakami - I'm red haired and fair skinned so I know all about sun sickness. It's hard so I hope you got well ok and good courage getting back on track ! MsLouise - Welcome to team ! AbTacha - Were did you get your calipers ? I can't seem to find any reasonably priced ones. From now on, I'll post only once every tow days, I realized that I spend more time on the forum than actually working out, so that's not good at all ! But here is my very short( I'll make it up tomorow) log for day 5: Pretty regular day, did my workout, My cardio ( to get to work) and I ate pretty healty, I treated me to a nice steak with mushrooms.
  2. Touday I don't have time to anwser all the posts. Altough, you're awsome ! Here is my journal. Day 4: Well, going strong, I did my workout and ate a beans salad for lunch and again for dinner. It' gets really boring really fast witch push me towards my old habits. I WANT PIZZA ! I resisted for now, I might try to make some from scratch. Any ideas on how I could make it healthier ? I could replace the cheese with something else perhaps ? My legs are getting weaker: It's strange but this morning I could not do my 20 squats ( and I could a few days ago) so I'm gonna go easy on my legs for the next few days: It makes no sense to keep on training like crazy if it makes me weaker. And here are my stats as of this morning: Weight: 190 pounds Body fat: 18.5% ( 35.15 pounds of fat) I always belived that, if it looks to good to be true, then it probably isn't. This is the perfect example of that. These stats would mean that I dropped 5 pounds of fat in 5 days and that I gained 4 pounds of muscles in the same period: No way, I mean is that even possible ! Don't get me wrong, I would be very happy if it happened, but... I probably made a mistake in the mesuring last time, perhaps the mesuring tape method I use is not only innacurate, but also inconsistent: I don't know. But I gotta get me a body fat calliper. Anyways, I will have to wait for day 10 to know if I'm going the right way.

  4. First of all, you guys and girls rock ! I'm so happy to be part of such a motivated team ! In fact you are so active on the topic, I can barely follow, and, as writing in english is a challenge in itself for me, I spend quite a lot of time trying to keep up. Superultrakami - Hello and welcome to the team ! Have you tried spagetti squash ? It's almost spagetti, without de carbs ! We share a common battle there: carbs cravings are difficult for me to, but they are not so bad if I make sure that I eat a little something (an apple ou nut mix) immediately when I feel the smallest hunger. Second of all, on about me... So my 3 days bike ride, lasted 2 days... technical difficulties and the weather caused me to change my plans. I'm a bit disapointed, but I still had fun and a good workout out of it. Also, I changed a bit my quest... Is it cheating ? Anyway, I read that working out every day is couter productive, so I reduced my mandatory workouts to 5 days a week. So here is my journal entry: Day 2 and 3: On the road These two days, I kind of slacked on my workout, but since I was doing 40 km of bike a day, I think it did not cause to mutch damage. Still I must respect my rules: -5 points for skipping two workouts. Diet wise: I finally understood what eating for fuel means. I was in the middle of nowhere , no restaurant ou convenience store in sight and I had brought only good, boring, food. But I needed fuel to carry on, so I putted gas in the tank. And of course I respected my criteria, but I carbed-up quite a bit to face the challenge... I think this 6 week chalenge will be very good for me in that it wil teach me to listen to my body. Speaking of witch I haven't started to track my calories, witch I will do today. CIGARETTE: I could not stop smoking as I wanted to. I'm very angry at myself and a bit discouraged on that account. All in all, this is not the strong start I was aiming for. Self motivation quote : « It dosen't matter how you start, it's how you finish ! » Tomorrow I will post my first results stats(I'm gonna post them every five days): can't wait to see if all that sweat was shed in vain or not
  5. Hello, Your main quest is very funny: « to become a dirty girl » . But jokes aside, you seems to have a very solid plan, very well thought out ! Keep on going !
  6. Hey Daggart I think your motivation is GREAT. There is nothing shameful in wanting to look great to find that special girl. It's my motivation too. About your main quest, I would suggest you think of some way to mesure wether you achieved it. What would be a mesurable, visible, sing that your on your way to become the best you can be ? For me it's body fat percentage. This way, if I get to my objective, I be able to get that major pat on the back I desesperatly need ! I also think that forming one new eating habit a day is a very smart way to go about it. Keep on going, house stark is behind you ! Ps: Para mì ingles tampoco esta mi lengua materna, hablo francès, pero hablo español tambien.

Hi Daggart, I'm so happy to find other people that share my quests, especially the « stop smoking » one. It turns out it is much more difficult than I expected. How did you do it ? Did you use nicotine patches, gum, hypnosis, ... ? I'll visit your challenge topic. Hello Jacqui, That dragon is the worst ! I think that I have to lose all my legs fat, arm fat before my belly fat event stat to notice... damm genetics ! But I'm determined to get the better of it ! I'll visit your challenge topic. So here is my journal entry: Day 2 and 3: On the road These two days I kind of slacked on my workout, but since I was doing 40 km of bike a day, I think it did not cause to mutch damage. 8. I'm currently reading Alan Car's Easy Way to Stop Smoking. It has helped me in the past, and I hope it will help me now. He speaks of something witch I think could be usefull to some of us, especially those of you who try to cut on things such as caffeine or fast food. I'll try to explain it as best as I can: The general attitude when fighting an addiction (either physical, like cigarette and coffee or mental, cheese burgers and cookies, or both) is to think that you are making a sacrifice, that you are depriving yourself of something good, something you need. And so you apply all your will power to resisting that tempting cigartte, that greasy pizza. This attitude is bound to make you fail 100% of the time. Why ? Because each time you make a sacrifice, each time you deprived yourself, you increase the value of the thing you try to stay off of, until you used up all your will power and decide that it is not worth it to stop caffeine or cigarette since it's a torture not to smoke or drink coffee. You are self-brainwashed into thinking that your cigarette or your coffee is good for you, that you cannot live without it. How can you resist your own mental brainwash ! Instead, you got to remind yourself of the reason why you wanted to stop eating this or smoking that and remind yourself that every time you stay off of coffee and cigarette, you reap benefits far greater than what a cigarette or a pepsi could ever provide you ! Not having that cola is better on all acouts than having it because if you resist long enough, the cravings will disappear, and you will have benefits only. Me, I stop smoking because it is killing me slowly. What is greater ? : the 5 minute pleasure of one cigarette or the pleasure of being healthy all the time ? Easy to answer ! So I don't think of that cigarette as that good relaxing thing I enjoyed after meal etc..., I think of it as that thing that was chaining me to my sofa, that thing that presided over my bad eating habits: when I go a day without it, I'm not depriving myself, i'm not sacrificing anything: I'm freeing myself. So there you go: my 2 cents about motivation, I hope It may help some of you getting a new outlook about cutting on specific foods or substances, I think it is particularly good against caffeine as it is also a drug. Daggart - Funny you should mention that, I was just in the process of writing this post. If you're not sure you wanna be a non-smoker I suggest you read Alan Car's Easy Way to Stop Smoking. I know how self-help book soud: cheesy. But you should really give this one a try. I'll say that: You think you like a cigarette with your coffee, but you don't, you brain washed yourself into thinking that. What you like is the stopping of the nicotine withdraw. The only other way to feel that is to go 5 days without cigarette. This is the base thesis on Alan Carr's book. Perhaps It helps you, perhaps not... But in any case, yes, let's face this together !
  9. Day 1: the grocery labyrinth I realize that my main challenge will be my nutrition quest. I had not understood what it means to eat only fresh foods until I entered the supermarket with that intention, today: it's F*****ing Hard ! everything is somewhat transformed, so I'll have to be not to severe with myself. Is almonds milks Bad ? Is peanut butter evil ? Are flat breads treacherous bitches ? Perhaps, but they are not my enemy as mutch as frozen pizza is, one fight at a time ! I did the beginner body weight workout in the evening; when I finished I felt extremly fatigued, must means I'm doing something right. And I did my bike ride ! So, still 100%, starting strong. Upcoming challenges: Today I'm leaving for a 3 day bike ride, I'v packed only good food and no cigarette. Hopefully, that will make those tree day easier (being on the road, in nature, without temptation). I'll report back when I return, hopefully with astonishing results. Self motivation quote From now on, every day I wanna be able to say: « Today, is the healthiest and fittest day of my life ».
  10. Hi everyone, To those I had already met, congrats on your first day of chalenge. As far as I can see this is a winning team ! To the new additions, welcome I'll check on your quests as soon as I can. Repost of my first day: Day 1: the grocery labyrinth I realize that my main challenge will be my nutrition quest. 11. Scratch that, I'll follow your advice and do the beginner body weight circuit workout ! And add a serie of sit-ups to it so my abs don't feel left out.
  12. Darwins_demon - I'm definetly new to all this and I plan on reading quite a lot to tweak my routine, it's more of a basic scheme on witch to build upx. Thanks for the advice ! Vilkacis - Yeah, I think you're right. I just went to the super market and realised how difficult it's gonna be to exclude certains things (sutch as frozen vegetables and fruits). But I mostly want to eliminate prepared stuff sutch as frozen pizza, frozen fishsticks, cereals, canned soup or pasta and the like, I have nothing against frozen vegies
