  1. Oh, Yuen. I'm so sorry to see you are dealing with injuries as well! It seems like so many assassins are struggling right now. I hope you feel better soon.
  2. Hope you get to feeling better. I can only imagine the kind of stress you are under, but we all believe in you. We've watched you change and grow and succeed quite a bit over the last few months. This is just one more test.
  3. This is why I never try to get too accurate with it. I just keep the general target in mind. Meat is definitely my main source of protein. I have to be in the mood for eggs, which is not very often, and I usually end up hungry within an hour of eating them. I enjoy all kinds of meat, and could probably live quite happily off just meat and potatoes. I also eat plain greek yogurt and cheeses on occasion. Then there's the trace protein from other sources, but I don't really pay attention to that.

  5. Just stopping by to chime in congrats, and you are awesome.
  6. Protein can definitely be tricky. I've found that I need about 1 lb of meat a day to hit 100g, so I usually just measure things out when I cook them and try to get the proper number of servings over the day.
  7. I'm struggling with fear as well. For a couple weeks, I wasn't really able to use my right hand at all. There was a lot I had taken for granted, and I felt rather useless. We ate a lot of convenience food, and I generally felt like crap. I debated whether this was all worth it, because I never actually felt the moment where I must have hurt myself. If I could do this without realizing it, how much worse could it have been? My wrist could have given out in a handstand while I was home alone with my daughter. I've found myself being much more cautious, and I'm certainly more careful what I do without my husband home. I'm sorry you're still in that phase where you can't do a lot of things physically, but I know your family is just happy you are okay. As for spending time with your kids, do they like when you read aloud to them? My son still loves it, especially when I do voices. One of the things I found to occupy my time was DnD. My husband brought home some books from a nerdy store near his work, and we've been playing online with a couple of groups. We have to play after 9pm so that the kids are asleep, but people have been very understanding. We found our groups here, if you're into that sort of thing. It's been a nice way to detach from everything that's gone on, and have fun.
  8. This is going to sound weird, but you know what I mean. You are such a beautiful mover!
  9. Looks like I've missed a lot, but it seems you're still making the most of your abilities. I hope the next few days go by quickly!
  10. I know I'm late to the party, but I just wanted to say that you made some excellent tutorials! I wish I had those when I was first learning. As for your core, you've built up great stability, but it doesn't sound like your training emphasizes dynamic endurance. If you want to be good at Ab Ripper, you could practice AB Ripper, but even the people in the video struggle with it, lol. You've definitely come a long way since I've known you.
  11. Thanks! I think things will end up being almost as crazy, but it should be a bit better since he won't be traveling as much. He's going to be the commander at his det this semester, so he'll have a lot more local responsibilities, but he's excited for the opportunity. I've found I feel so much better all around when I keep moving, even if it may not be exactly what I want. I sleep better, eat better, feel happier ... that all makes it worth it. And when I finally get a pretty pistol, I'll know I haven't wasted all this time. Thanks! I feel like some of it was likely lean mass since I haven't been pushing myself as hard, but my clothes are definitely looser. I'm not really sure what's going on, but I guess that's what happens when you don't track anything, lol. Thanks, obax. You all always know how to make me feel better when I'm doubting myself. Now I need to focus on being happy for you and proud of all your amazing accomplishments, and less on my weaknesses.
  12. Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'm sorry I didn't hang around for the challenge, but it was just too hard to watch everyone doing what I love and not being able to fully participate, especially when everyone was doing the animal mini challenge. I have been keeping up with a routine, but the passion isn't really there. I'm still making progress, and I've actually lost 8 lbs over the course of the challenge. I've managed to stick with my goals, though I replaced the animal flows on PCC days with mother-daughter dance parties. She especially enjoys them. My stability work has really come along nicely, and my right feels just as solid as my left now. My endurance has also improved greatly on each side. As for my strength routine, I cut it back to basics: A Day Parallette push ups/ FE Rows 2 x 1, 2, 3 Pistols 2 x 1, 2, 3 each side TGU 1 x 1, 2, 3 each side Core work Hip flow B Day SB clean and press/ Pull ups 2 x 1, 2, 3 SLRDL 2 x 1, 2, 3 ES Hanging leg raises Shin box (loaded) It's not much volume, but I feel like I'm making good progress, and I'm training almost every day. (I also do something every day to help with pistols.) I'll probably stick with this for a while as I let my wrist heal. Today, I tried crawling around on hands on knees, just to test it. I decided I would go super slow, and focus on maintaining great positioning. I felt quite silly, considering how much more I could do before, but I guess it's a start. There was no pain. I'm not sure how much I'll be around. Maybe I'll start a battle log? I'll try to be better at encouraging the rest of you during the next challenge. Thanks again for being so supportive!
  13. I was pretty worthless for a few days. Those were also the days it hurt the most, likely because I was just wallowing in the pain. I didn't do anything at all, and I started to notice how generally terrible I felt. I woke up stiff and aching in the morning, and was just completely unmotivated. Once I decided enough was enough, I started feeling better. It probably helps that I'd intended to focus on my legs this challenge anyway. Now I have an especially good reason. I've been playing around with the bottom position all day. Switching from side to side, holding a pseudo pistol, and holding the pose have all been quite fun. I've noticed my right hip is more open than my left, so I have discovered yet another thing to work on. Thanks. I'm not sure how admirable I was last week, but I'm in a good place now. I've decided I have to make the most of what I'm capable of. I feel much better all over when I'm training, and my mood is always better as well. I may not be able to do what I really love, but this has given me an opportunity to work on my weaknesses and see some major improvements again.
  14. GMB has put their parallettes info in one convenient place. I'll be pouring through there in the coming weeks. Maybe we'll find something interesting.
  15. I really enjoyed catching up on your thread. It looks like you are making solid progress so far.
  16. If you'd like to continue with all your various workouts, you could consider undulating the intensity of each day. Maybe some days you work on skills, others strength, and others endurance. Or maybe you go for a light, restorative swim.
  17. So nice to see you back again. You always bring a smile to my face.
  18. It looks like you've been doing quite well, and your tutorials look great.
  19. It's not gone completely, but it no longer interferes with daily life. The only time it hurts is when I forget about it and bump it too hard on something. I'm trying to be careful not to aggravate it again, without going crazy. I've been doing leg flows throughout the day, just to expend some of the excess energy I have pent up. Thanks for the recommendation on the toe stands. I included them in my workout this morning, and I think they'll fit nicely in my new program. As I said above, it only hurts if I bump it on something. It's decreased in size considerably, so hopefully it'll be gone soon.
  20. So I wasn't really sure how I wanted to do my programming with my wrist being messed up. Handbalancing was a huge part of my life. I've mentioned before that's it's like meditation for me. It requires a certain kind of focus that blocks out all the noise. I haven't decided how to replace that yet, other than just meditating. For now, I'll be following a one-skill-a-day kind of plan, while continuing to work the mobility/stability/stretching I've mentioned before. I've also been working leg-dominant flows, which, unsurprisingly, is doing amazing things for my hips/knees/ankles. Mobility prep + cossacks, close squats, box pistols Foam rolling Deep parallete push ups (strength ladders) Plank toe pulls Leg-dom flow The Trifecta
  21. The "box" is actually one of my daughter's tiny chairs. I haven't measured it, but I know it allows me to go just below parallel. I've been trying to use my left hand more often lately, and some tasks drive me crazy. Opening things and cooking have become real chores, lol. Thanks. I'm certainly not the same without the Assassins. Sorry I disappeared again. Hopefully I'll be sticking around longer this time. Thanks for checking in! Awe, thanks. I've missed my awesomeness as well. I'm back. Things have been busy and frustrating lately. Thanksgiving will definitely be a nice break!
  22. Okay, before I respond to you amazing people individually, I thought I'd get this out in case I run out of time. I've had a recurring ganglion cyst in my right wrist since middle school. It flares up very rarely, less than once a year, and is usually painless. It's never interfered with my training/daily life, until this time. It started with just me being aware that my wrist was sensitive, and over a few days turned into nagging pain. I didn't even want to feed myself with my right hand, much less do anything else. I was angry and frustrated, and just in a generally bad mood, along with all the other stresses I've got going on. Once the pain started to let up, I found the motivation to begin working through some lower body flows in addition to the mobility and stability work I've been doing. Today was my first real workout, but I'm still going to be taking it easy on my wrist. Working in a neutral position doesn't seem to aggravate it, so I'll probably be using my parallettes more often. Anyway, I apologize for dropping out yet again, but even trying to use my phone or the computer was painful.
  23. 1.2 Active Recovery Mobility and stability work Flow fit x 20 min Rolling (Especially inner thigh above knee, glutes, triceps and forearms) PCC stretches I forgot to mention that I've been doing unassisted box pistols at the end of my warm ups, which is nearly every day.
