  1. I am sorry I was not very active on here this challenge to help support everyone. Super busy with work, school, and kids. I hope you all did well. I did manage to somehow lose 15 pounds over the course of the challenge. Not exactly sure how as I didn't due to well with my goals. Hopefully I will see you all next challenge!
  2. As you can tell, I was not very active on the forums during this challenge, but I did manage to accomplish my quest! Albeit with out sticking to goals very well. I give my self a "C" on bringing mu lunches, there were some drive thru days, but I made sure to not get very much. (Which saved money too) Water consumption I would say was probably a low "C" or high "D", 3 litres is a lot, I would drink maybe 2 a day at least and there were a few sodas drank as well. Lastly, I would have to get an "F" on working out, I just didn't have the time between work, school, and family. On the plus side I did manage to lose 15 pounds. I started out at 240 and am now at 225, so I guess I leveled up from grinding and not quest completions haha.
  3. Those are great words to live by. How is everyone doing so far? Hitting a few bumps, but working on trying to get in a routine to make things easier. Well, I am off to statistics, I will fire up Serenity after class while I do homework.
  4. You know, your coat is kinda a brownish color... Fortunately mine is as well. May I come aboard your boat for this journey?
  5. This is my second go around, didn't finish the last challenge...I don't really have excuses, I guess I didn't make it a priority. Well, that is going to change. I literally don't have much free time this challenge; between work, 22 credit hours, and family I won't be able to do as much as I would really like. However, any little bit is better than continuing down the same path. I am going to be 30 in a couple weeks and in the worst shape of my life. My ultimate goal is to return to around 190 lbs by my 31st birthday. The happiest I have been with my physique was when I was about 25, spent some time overseas and hit the gym a lot. There was still room for improvement, but I liked being 190 with some muscle tone than when I was 160 lbs (an all time low as an adult) after basic training. Like I said earlier, a little it of improvement is better than none, so with that I am going to take some baby steps for now to set myself on the proper path to reaching that goal. Main Quest Lose 10 lbs this challenge Goals 1. Bring my lunch to work, no more fast food 6 weeks x 5 days I need to bring a lunch = 30 lunches I will use this to keep metrics in order to rate myself 2. No soda/juice/etc, water only 6 weeks x 7 days x 3 liters/day = 126 liters I will deduct for every liter missed, rounding up 3. BBWW 3 days a week Tue, Thu, and Sat (only days I don't have to go to class after work) 6 weeks x 3 workouts = 18 workouts (already missed one today...) Life Quest Get the garage cleaned out (I know I said this last time. I kept making the excuse of it being too hot.) This will give me a chance to organize boxes and start clearing out junk from multiple past moves and prepare for (hopefully) a new move! Motivation My dad, he has come upon some serious health issues, so I hope to motivate him by showing him how just small "sacrifices" can better his health and keep him here to watch his grandson grow up. My kids, my son was born this summer, and my wife's kids, who I treat as my own. They are hard to keep up with sometimes. I used to ride my bike on local trails a lot; the kids recently learned to actually ride their bikes with out training wheels (more confidence/stability/etc). Took them on a bike ride thinking I would wear them out...boy was I wrong.
  6. You beat me to my next question! I was going to ask about the apps. I hated having to run a couple miles, it always felt boring. I used to do intervals for my own enjoyment on the treadmill, since this is basically the same but more of a beginner program; I think I will like it. At one point I started enjoying running, almost getting the runners high, but probably nothing close to what a true runner feels...and then I got shin splints. It was pretty much down hill from there. I had bought some compression "socks" and a true pair of running shoes. I can't believe how much of a difference your shoes can make! I went to one of those stores that specialize in running equipment and the staff are trained to watch how your foot impacts the ground as you walk/run. I definitely recommend it, but be prepared to spend some cash. Now it is just a matter of getting back in to it, unfortunately my shoes are probably passed the recommended mileage
  7. Stacee and Mort, how do you like the C25K? I am thinking of starting it. As much as I hate running, haven't had to do it in over a year, I was military and had to run all the time for 8 years. I am thinking of getting back in to law enforcement, so that means back to running...ugh. I also need to find a place to swim that won't cost too much. There is a swim test that I will need to pass as well.
  8. Awesome news Ash! Keep it up! As for me, it's finals week, so I haven't done much exercising. I am going to have to hit it hard starting tomorrow. I will be on break for about 2 weeks before fall starts up, so I won't have to worry about going to class or doing homework after work. However, the diet is going well, not quite paleo/primal, but getting there. What do you guys/gals do when you get a craving for something sweet?
  9. Well...I am not off to a good start. Had to work Saturday so Sunday was spent doing chores, homework, and playing with the kids. Honestly, I could have done my bike ride Saturday after work. I am doing pretty well on making as healthy of choices as I can, but I really need to get to the store and buy some better options. Tonight's BBWW went really well, I was feeling up to it, but my wife insisted on it (especially since she decided to join me in order to lose some baby fat). Lunges are getting a little easier; I can almost complete them all. I did 3 sets of 15. The best part was our 6 year old son and 8 year old daughter joining us half way through. Nothing better than your motivation playing along with you!
  10. Completed my first BBWW last night, suffice to say, I have a lot of work ahead of me. The lunges kicked my butt. I wasn't able to finish the 2nd set and the third one was put of question. While going through the cabinets this morning in order to pack my lunch; I quickly realized I need to go shopping. Not really anything remotely paleo. Gonna try to make some healthy choices until then...and I just realized I left my water at home too! At least I had a good breakfast.
  11. Heya, showing up a little late to the party, but I am looking forward to leveling up my life and helping any of you if I can! Just got the kids in bed, homework done, and challenge posted. Now to clean the kitchen then get in my BWW for the day.
  12. My ultimate quest is to be around 190ish lbs and 15% BMI by Sep 30, 2014 My Main Quest (for this 6 week challenge): Lose 10 lbs I will use these three goals to accomplish my quest: - Do the beginner body weight workout everyother day, walk my dog on off days, and ride my bike once each weekend - Drink less soda and more water (zero sodas and at least a gallon of water/day by the end) - Start incorporating paleo into my diet Life Quest: Clean out my garage so I can have a place to workout Motivation: My kids and my dad. I want to be around to see my kids grow up and I am tired of not having energy to continue playing with them. My dad is a big guy and as come upon some pretty serious health issues; I can see myself turning in to him if I do not do something now. Once I get some more free time I will upload pics/stats and some more about me. Until then, I look forward to leveling up with everyone.
