  1. Abs: 4/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 5/30 Yoga: 6/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 6/30 Swing: 4/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 4/30 Book: 5/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 5/30 Week One done and this is already my most difficult challenge so far. The pain I'm in is intense and it's difficult even to come on the boards and post. I'm going to keep working, but I can't tick all these boxes with any consistency. I was so sick over the weekend from the previous week and I just can't live this way. It's going to be a season of rest for me, much as I hate it, and hopefully I'll come back swinging for the next challenge. Peace and love.
  2. I didn't want to admit it, but I'm definitely going to have to modify this challenge. After ending the last two nights with a numb left hand, today I'm finding just 5-10 minutes of continuous typing can start to bring on that prickly numb feeling. Today I went to push my hair out of my face and it felt like someone else was touching my head. I can handle some prickly feelings, but that numb is too numb. From this point, I'm going to drop my daily page goal from 10 to 7, also, I'm going to count this week's goal as met and give myself a 3-day rest so the inflammation in my wrist can go down. Challenges are great, but I'm not interested in injuring myself for them. So, tonight, I'm resting. Tomorrow I'll do my last round of abs for the week, and today I already did my kettlebells and yoga. But for now, I'm going to try to play a speed run of a game. Haven't decided which one yet... maybe Bioshock Infinite? That is, if my numbness from typing doesn't also result from using a PS3 controller! In which case, I'll just play another game of Civ5. Abs: 4/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 4/30 Yoga: 6/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 5/30 Swing: 4/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 3/30 Book: 5/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 4/30
  3. Y'all are so talented. That drinking monkey is suburb!!! I got the slurping big toe pose. Definitely need a straw for this one! I should always do forward folds with a gin&tonic between my feet. This is brilliant.
  4. That made me laugh aloud in public. I'm sitting here in Starbucks giggling helplessly.
  5. Batwoman, my stocking was stuffed with small liquor bottles at Christmas. Then the small liquor bottles went on a different shelf from the regular-sized liquor bottles and were forgotten for two months. Then this PVP was made and I remembered them! The End. This shirt was a fantastic investment. You get married and everyone feels entitled to ask "When's the baby?!" Like it matters. Like I have a maternal instinct. Ha, yeah, I was lying there with the bottle in my mouth and my guy was hovering over me taking pictures and it really felt like he should draw on my face with sharpies or something, ha.
  6. Wow, good to know that about two-handed swings! I will avoid them now.
  7. Hey guys! I got Supine Spinal Twist! Add scotch and it becomes SUPER SPINAL TWIST, amirite?? Edit: also featuring my "Shut Up About Babies" shirt. Which is my favorite shirt.
  8. Thanks for the well-wishes everyone! I think the extra sleep did the trick and I finally kicked this cold. DAY FOUR COMPLETE This challenge is definitely harder than the last one. Which was the goal so yay for me! I guess? The last two days I have worked right up until bedtime. Getting last bits of exercise in just before hitting the hay. This book daily quota is a lot to get done in a day and my going to bed with a numb left hand from all the typing. Still, it's totally awesome, and there's nothing else I'd rather be doing with my time. Abs: 4/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 4/30 Yoga: 5/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 5/30 Swing: 3/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 3/30 Book: 4/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 4/30 ABS: Fantastic session today! I strapped a five-pound weight to each ankle and did supersets of: 10 sit-ups 10 heel touches 10 oblique crunches 15 second hold at half sit-up 15 second leg hold at 6 inches off the ground I did three sets of this and on the last I held the final two poses until failure. Which was something closer to 20-25 seconds each. Instead of squats today, to save the knees, I did 100 high-steps with the ankle weights. I also did 40 kickbacks on each leg to work them glutes. YOGA: I LOVE YOGA SO MUCH OH MAN. I'm already seeing improvement every day. There's this thing called chaturanga dandasana that has kicked my butt in every flow since I started, but today I got it! I finally moved from downward dog, to chaturanga dandasana, to upward dog, back to downward dog without collapsing! Woooooooooo! I mean, this is great. Remember when I couldn't do a pushup? And now I can do lots of pushups! Remember when I couldn't do chaturanga dandasana? Now I can do chaturanga dandasana! Remember when I couldn't do a pull-up? Well, I still can't ... but .... THERE'S HOPE! SWING, SWING: So today I did loads of swinging. I did two-handed swings with the 15lb, then one-handed swings with the 15lb, then the same with the 20lb. For some reason, it's way easier to keep good form with the 20lb. Is this because I'm getting stronger? I hope so. I also use them for bicep curls. Because guns. Bonus: Every time I say "swing" I think of this video. BOOK: 10 pages! One more time! This is hard. Really, really hard. But I couldn't be happier to be making so much progress on my novel. There's not much to say about that really.
  9. Well, I think Batwoman just won the thread. Or maybe Jenn did for doing such expert water-squirting camera work. That took some skiiiillllll! I'm trying goddess pose. And yes, that's a tiny bottle of scotch at 8:30am on a weekday. Judge away. As usually, River wanted to see what was going on. Her tail was wagging like crazy. She loves this new yoga game mom's playing. Obviously, my knees couldn't go low enough to pull a full goddess, but believe me, going this far down is serious progress for me.
  10. And day three is ending. Abs: 3/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 3/30 Yoga: 4/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 4/30 Swing: 2/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 2/30 Book: 3/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 0/5 | 3/30 ABS: Didn't get the full 20 minutes, but I'll be doing some more here on my way to bed so I think it'll come out even. YOGA: 20-30 minutes. I definitely came up short, but I did a full hour yesterday and the day before, so I'm ok with this. SWING: Didn't swing. BOOK: Got 'er done. I have a headcold and I guess it caught up to me today. I overslept this morning, and slept through a nap alarm this afternoon to take another two hours out of the middle of my day. It was about all I could do to get the writing done, let alone all the working out. I'm not worried about completing the week's goals though. I've got Saturday and lots of extra time Friday night for working out. I'm zonked, so just one lovely tired Emma for tonight's update.
  11. LOVE LOVE LOVE I can't stop scrolling...
  12. TRUTH. I'd be covered if I had the money.
  13. Omgsh guys my tattoo artist is taking forever to get back to me about scheduling and all this talk about tattoos is driving me craaaaazy. Love that tattoo idea for your son! Clever! Edit: Totally agree with Batwoman though, it's always a good idea to find a tattoo artist you like and let them draw up the design. Drawing for skin is totally different from drawing for paper or digital art or what have you. There are unique constraints to every medium, so ask an expert in that medium!
