  1. I think I can handle it. The hardest part will be the 1000 pullups and probably the 1000 minutes of biking. The biking will be difficult because I've specified that it only counts on off-road trails. Therefore I need to spend time just to get to the trails, and then I get to start counting the time I'm on the trails. That may be tough. I've mapped it out though...48 pullups every other day will get me my goal. If I split those pullups into multiple sets of small amounts and slowly lower the amount of sets and increase the reps, I will be able to maintain the amount of pullups I need to hit 1000 while at the same time increase my pullup endurance to hit my 13 in a row goal! YaY! Still need to plan out my other workouts, will do that tonight as much as I can while at work. YaY for being a projectionist! I finally have a job where I don't have to deal with customer's crap and I get lots of time to think! Too bad I still dislike my job
  2. Yeah and that is one of my problems. I hear High Intensity Training is the best way to workout, but then I also hear that you can overwork yourself. Way to contradict IMO. Last time I did as many pushups and pullups as I could for 40 mins, I couldn't move my triceps for 4 days. Then last week I did 165 Squats w/ 52.5 lb weight, and 105 deadlifts with the same weight, and my back was killing me for 3-4 days (the back was a lot worse since I use my back to basically MOVE) So I'm trying to keep my intensity up without over-doing it. Trying to find that middle ground.
  3. I obsess too much to lose momentum. Already have tomorrow planned out. Going to work on my sit-ups, air bicycle, and probably some burpees. Maybe throw in some cardio if there is time. I also plan on biking to and from work tonight. Hopefully that works out. Already took my multivitamin for the day and I'll get my teeth brushing before bed, lol.
  4. First workout complete: 46 Pullups total, divided into 10 sets of do as many as I can (with proper form...full pullups, not kipping pullups) 130 bodyweight squats divided into 4 sets 135 seconds of plank divided into 2 sets
  5. Yeah I thought about mountain biking a certain distance like your goal, but I realized two things. First, I have no way of knowing how far I'm biking on most of the off-road trails that I ride. Secondly, some of those trails can be really intense and I don't go very fast but use a lot more effort and I don't think those trails should count LESS towards my goal. So I think riding for an amount of time solves both of those problems.

I do not brush my teeth nearly as much as I should) What I have to work with: I do not have a gym membershipI work 4-5 days a week (7-10 hour shifts)I own a single 52.5 lb barbellI own a door-frame pullup barI own a jump ropeI own a mountain bike My over 9000 cumulative combo Inspired by Kristen's 6 week challenge (I am a DBZ fan, so I had to go with it!) 1000 pushups1000 pullups1000 bodyweight squats1000 air bicycles1000 sit ups1000 seconds of plank1000 burpees1000 minutes of running1000 minutes of mountain biking (On real mountain bike terrain...street biking does not count)1 single backhand spring It's OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!11!!1 The point of the Over 9000 section is not to be a goal by itself. As Spezzy has posted, just doing X of an exercise does not really show improvement. Showing improvement is to do more than you could before. So the reason I'm putting this Over 9000 challenge in here is just to have a motivation to push harder and train more during the 6 weeks. It is a means to gain strength so that I can accomplish my "higher rep" goals listed in my fitness section. Rewards: Coming Soon!
  9. I'm game for some PvP. Maybe we can come up with a good challenge that will push the both of us.
  10. I am definitely in, but I still have to plan out my goals. This will be my first 6 week challenge and I'm looking forward to it!
  11. There is some really good advice in here. I like the idea of CrossFit, but it is a lot more money. I don't know if I'm willing to spend that much. Also, I just got my associates and I've applied to transfer to another University to get my bachelors, and if I go to VCU next semester like I plan, they have a gym there that I can use. So before I make any decisions I'm definitely going to check out their gym first. I know they have a rock climbing wall and I LOVE rock climbing! So things to do: Check out the VCU gym. Check out the CrossFit facility. Figure out a budget.
  12. This actually sounds like something I would really enjoy. I really want to try muscle-ups though and I need gymnastic type rings to practice those.
  13. Your arms have an epic shape to them. They look awesome, very toned. Keep up the great work!
  14. Yeah, the YMCA has a track and a pool at it and is def the cheapest option. I took a tour of it last year with my girlfriend and it looks nice. As for the self motivation, I have that. I'm....ridiculous. I used to be a "full-time gamer" playing World of Warcraft, Halo, and DDR. Now I've totally cut myself away from gaming and I'm putting all my effort into fitness. I'm a hardcore min-maxer and for the past few months it's been 100% focus on fitness.
  15. I've been looking into different gym memberships and trying to decide which one I should join. Right now I do all of my training at home using either body weight movements, or a single 50 pound barbell that I own. So what gym do you use and why? From my research I think CrossFit looks the coolest, and seems to meet my ideals the most, but it's so expensive! The one near me is about $140 a month with a one year contract. Now if I'm a full-time student (which I should be next semester) I get a 30% discount bringing it to about $98 a month. Next there is AmFamFit, American Family Fitness. This gym is your typical "Globogym" but would cost me around $80 a month for a year contract if I'm a full-time student. Finally there is the YMCA. This gym is the smallest of them all, but still has more than enough training equipment and free classes with a paid membership. Going here would cost me as little as $18-$25 a month if I'm a full-time student and does not require any yearly contracts. So to everyone out there, I would like to know the following: What gym do you go to (if any)? Why do you go to that gym? What gym would you recommend for me based on the information I've provided? Thanks for your input! And give it your all in training....as I am working on a strain of zombie virus to release on the mass public!
  16. I'm definitely in too! I joined right after the last challenge started and I've been training hard. I've also been doing a lot of research and I feel like I'm ready to set a 6 week goal and work my a$$ off!
  17. I have specific workout clothes, mainly shorts just because they promote range of motion. When I try working out in my "regular" shorts or jeans, I'm afraid I'll split them down the seam, or I'm not able to move as well as I'd like. Sometimes when I have free time I work I do some burpees, but I'm required to wear long black dress pants and they are really annoying to jump around in doing burpees. So I suggest having your own workout clothes that are all about comfort. You want to be comfortable while your pumping iron!
  18. This thread is epic win! Now I know that I need to go eat MORE right now! Eat Eat Eat! Time to cook up a chicken breast with some broccoli and eat! I haven't tried the whole milk thing, but I LOVE milk...does that really work? As long as I lift big, drink lots of milk, eat lots of high protein foods, I will gain muscle? Am I also going to get a "milk" gut if I do that?
  19. Welcome to the community. I'm also pretty new here, just joined last month. I noticed you mentioned vibrams in your post. I have a pair of vibram five-finger KSOs. I love them! I never run in anything else now. I bought them so that I could transition into barefoot running. I must worn you though, if you get a pair, work your way up to them. You'll really notice a difference. They have definitely helped on my mile time, but if you overdo it, you can hurt yourself. I'm at the point where I try to run 3 miles a day, three days a week in my vibrams. Sometimes I will get blisters on the tips of my toes, but nothing that calluses won't eventually cure. I even tried going on hikes in them, but you really feel every rock under your feet...which does help strengthen your feet, but you don't want to overdo it and injure yourself. Good luck to your fitness!
  20. Gratz! I'm at 7 for one set right now. 10 is impressive!
  21. Hello everyone! My name is Andy. I Stumbled on this site w/ StumbleUpon a few weeks ago and I've been lurking around ever since. The OMFG is what got me the most excited about this site. In high school I used to make up fitness games and I made my own leveling up system, so the Online Multiplayer Fitness Game definitely caught my attention. I created a character sheet and I've been updating my stats ever since. It's so much fun! So a little about me: I'm a hardcore gamer that is trying to focus less on gaming and more on life. My game interests include: Halo 3 World of Warcraft Starcraft 2 Portal 1 and 2 Dance Dance Revolution Modern Warfare I'm a fitness nerd and I love physical activity! My physical activities include: Mountain Biking Hiking Dance Dance Revolution I want to get more into Rock Climbing and Parkour! I'm a 23 year old guy and I have an associates in Computer Science, working on getting my B.S. I'm here to meet people who will help push me to exercise hard, better, faster, stronger!
