  1. I'm an impatient cook, and I tend to get multi-use veggies like carrots and onions which can go in soup, salad, stir fry, pie... mmmm I'm a big fan of stir fry: cabbage is cheap and when you slice it it suddenly trebles in size so it makes a good base (a great one for the budget) and you can scramble eggs directly into a stir fry and they sort of disappear, leaving little scribbles of protein. A side of wholewheat or buckwheat noodles will boost the protein count and are cheaper than quinoa. Also: breakfast tip, top your porridge with sunflower seed kernals - only takes a second and you can ration them out as necessary (or wait for them to be on offer at Holland & Barrett)
  2. I can't believe I haven't seen anyone else from the pokey little hamlet of Birmingham...
  3. I think it's partly because when you focus all your energy on looking after someone else, you have an excuse for why you aren't looking after yourself. So if you don't push yourself as hard as you could have, and miss out on some important goals or experiences, you can pass it off on being too busy "being selfless". It's a scary thing to own your dreams and really work for them. I struggle with it every day. But also make a point of not taking crap from my partner when he's fishing for sympathy
  4. OMG I WANT ALL THE FOODS!!! Yes I am having ToM issues, so I thought I'd crash the thread. *sad*
  5. Do you eat eggs? Hard boiled eggs are my favourite way to awesome up my lunch (well, my grazing bag) and you can do them in batches in leave them in the fridge for when you need them
  6. omg, I had great workouts monday and tuesday, then last night I forgot my key and missed my workout time waiting to get let back into my flat, and now today I have time of the month issues and have eaten any snack in reaching distance. So full of sadness and fail. Also, guys, please don't blame all of womankind if you get shot down. We're women too yaknow. There are plenty of awesome women around, but they may be shy, or hiding in obscure places like libraries, games arcades, knitting shops and the Internet
  7. It makes so much sense, thank you for sharing. I have a really high curve ratio and most off the shelf clothes fit me wrong - yet all this time I could have just bought shirts and had the waist taken in.
  8. Milla Jovovich is my all-time action hero - watching anything with her in being a badass makes me want to kill things in the face* *by which I mean achieve exercises and kill my to do list
  9. Thanks for so many suggestions! A few things have grabbed my eye - there are now courgettes in my fridge awaiting baconification and peanut butter seems like a significant upgrade to plain ole celery (natural PB tends to have a lot of oil in it so I'm looking forward to this one) Sweet potato in coconut oil sounds epic too, though maybe less of a carry-about snack. Tempted to buy coconut oil though to enhance my regular potatoes - I got some huge bargain price on a 7.5kg bag so there's a lot of potato-based meals in my future :s
  10. I totally agree: when you go from VPL to Visible Entire Underpants you've crossed a line
  11. @m00se - ha! I am aware of bacon, but I posted this in the veg forum for a reason @awsd00 - there's always going to be some in the house for my partner to eat, and I live in the city so there's a grocery store in the ground floor of my building. The time I have most trouble though is at work: if I don't bring enough of my own snacks with me both the free gummies bowl and the crisp-stocked vending machine start talking to me. @Dustmite - fried sweet potato definitely has my attention Does it re-heat OK - like if you make up a batch a microwave it later?
  12. OK a tad dramatic. But I feel capable of fixing up all other parts of my diet, but when it comes to quitting crisps I am drowning in a sea of fail. Can anyone recommend a crunchy, greasy substitute? Much obliged
  13. Yes. Dark chocolate FTW. My major craving is crisps (chips) though to the level where you'd think I'd suffer some catastrophic collapse if I didn't eat them every day. It's the thing I find hardest to quit.
  14. I feel for you. I have significant hate for jeans. But I do have jeggings - they cling in all the right ways and are thick enough to wear as proper trousers (though I prefer to wear them with a long shirt or jumper-dress). If you feel comfortable rocking your heels with a tapered ankle it's worth considering.
