  1. I also only go twice a week. I occassionally see the WOD from the day before and ask to do that instead if it hits exercises that I think I need to do... Talk to the coach. Also, can you do pullups anywhere other than crossfit?? I put a bar up in my backyard for about $40. I do them all the time at home and it has really helped get through some of the WODs.
  2. Hi. Just curious, how often do you go?? Is Crossfit your first fitness endeavor?
  3. Hi! I wanted to ask what you are climbing in your avatar pic?? Also, something that helped me with pushup progression.... EVERY time you get in the shower, do a set to exhaustion.
  4. Hi Melyssa! Thanks for visiting! I am sort of obssessed with that show right now. Unfortunately, for the most part, you get on the show by submitting an audition tape. I'm rethinking my main quest and I may shift it down a notch to completing a 'tough mudder' race, as that has just an entry fee for requirments.
  5. It's funny you mention agility... I'm trying to find a freerunning group in my area. No luck so far, though. I DO intend to try meetup. The area I am in is known mostly for hunting and fishing so outdoor activty groups are apparently few and far between. Right now I do Crossfit twice a week, run sprints/body weight exercise twice a week and lift twice a week. Lifting days are full body as I'm following a 'starting strength' inspired workout while lifting.
  6. When I start craving PB I eat almonds... Which means I never stop eating almonds....
  7. What about the beer?? I'm really trying to cut back myself... I just cant bring myself to drink a 'lite' beer....
  8. Hi! Looks like you are doing quite well! I wanted to mention something to you. My wife also has trouble doing pushups. Something that helped her is to go 'up' in the 'on your knees' pushup. And the come up onto her toes and slowly lower herself down in the 'normal' pushup position. It helped her a lot and after a month and a half she can now do a few sets of normal pushups. (which she hates to do.... lol)
  9. Fellow binger here.... Prepare food in advance. Its the only way I can make it even a single day!!! (I love pizza and beer)
  10. I came in here to say how awesome I think it is that you have already made it so far on the AT..... Then I saw the 'Flying Pigeon Pose'. I just won $10 betting another guy in my office (a yoga enthusiast) that he couldnt do a pose I found on the internet. So thanks for that!
  11. Ive decided to leave the goals as they are and just take a little more time in deciding what to do in the next 6 week challenge.
  12. Day 06: Sugar- so far, this been ok. I have cut out most everything. Going without coke has been a real mess, but it's starting to get better. Intensity- also, so far, so good. I missed two days of exercise because of work, but the days I have exercised have been what I'm looking for. Also, I've lost two pounds.... Water- this has been much easier than I anticipated. Already getting close to a gallon a day. Ok, so maybe water and intensity weren't such great ideas for quests.... Can I change it mid challenge??
  13. "Develop and maintain a healthy day-to-day routine" Best main quest I have read yet! The sleep thing is awesome! The wife and I have a very firm 10PM bedtime. It has made a substantial difference!
  14. I'm guessing by your use of 'WOD', you go to Crossfit....? 5 days a week...! Beast Mode Activated! Do you guys stretch in addition to the WOD? I'm asking because here where I go it is a big deal and at the box south of town the guy says that we don't need to because of the full range of motion in our movements.
  15. Hi Jenny! I recently got my wife to start running. I just wanted to mention something to you that helped her.... I see you were able to run for 15 minutes on a treadmill, which means you CAN run. I started my wife out running outside through our neighborhood. I had her leave our house and run mailbox to mailbox. Run to one, walk to the next, then run again. It is an easy way to run lower intensity intervals. Good Luck!
  16. My wife and I also struggle with 'cheat' meals.... Ours usually turn into 'cheat' weekends.... We actually sat down and wrote out our meals plans for an entire week and that was the first time we were able to make it through. Just a thought. Good Luck!
  17. MsLouise, my facsination with ANW was why I started reading NF. I was on Stumble Upon and it ended up on a blog about the show! Also, I have started buying gallons of water instead of the standard 20oz bottles and have found I drink a lot more water with a gallon jug sitting close by. It's actually cheaper than the smaller bottle as well.
  18. This thread has SLAYER! and swordfighting..... Awesome. Also, good luck with your goals!
  19. 'conquering of me' Fair warning.... I AM stealing that.... Are you keeping a record of what you eat as well or just the exercise?
  20. I would LOVE to be an archeologist.... My wife and I are trying to eat more vegetables as well. What do you eat at breakfast?? I just can't find any veggies I want with my eggs....
  21. Hi! I am also trying to drink much more water... Something I have found to be useful is to purchase a full gallon of water instead of a 20oz bottle. You actually pay LESS for the gallon most of the time and having a full gallon around at work, at home, in the car or wherever has helped me stay after it. Good Luck!
  22. Just wanted to mention a product to you as you will be logging everything. The wife and I got the 'UP' band from Jawbone. While I have quitusing it, the wife says it helps keep her motivated with the logging of meals. Good Luck!
  23. Hi! I went to Dublin on my honeymoon last year! 13 hours is a lot farther than I have ever been.... I have recently started keeping raw almonds at work and it has done wonders for me and my snacking.
