  1. Congrats on the great accomplishments! You deserve every bit of them. And for the ones you didn't get to as much you can work on them next time...I know you can accomplish even more next challenge! It was great to follow you and I will keep doing so!
  2. So the meet went pretty well! I placed decently 5 of about 140 runners, but the sucky part was I was in 3rd until the last like 400 and the last girl barely edged me out. oh well it was a great experience and I am definitely glad I got to race and kick the rust off! Time was ok for a first race with only a couple weeks of training maybe even good by my own high standards because the course did have a couple hills and was very winding/twisty (17:29) My coach sent me some info for another race about 3 weeks away and its in close-by NOLA so I think I will go and stay with one of my best friends who lives there..BONUS: after the race is a little expo w free beer and food...SCORE!! I again had a cheat day but overall, this challenge has been awesome! I've met some great supporters and got to see other's transformation. I no longer drink diet coke and eating very healthy is the norm now. It really is all about creating habits Well back to my lab to go quantify my DNA samples!!! Happy challenge to yall!
  3. I had both..I am not sure if it was subliminal desire from my father that he wanted a boy and was stuck with me or what hahah Yay on the progress and pictures are great motivation. Keep up the good work!!!
  4. More positives in this update! Last week and this week I have had good workouts-starting to really get in the swing of things! I've followed my diet weekly plans pretty great. There has been a day a week that I have not followed it-mainly because of the alcohol/sweets thing. But overall, I'm shocked the time went by this fast! I'm getting so accustomed to eating better that it's not really about not getting to eat anything now. I just don't want it at all. It must have a lot to do with the mentality I've developed over this challenge-I'm using I don't in place of I can't and its working great!! This week is my first race-eek! I'm excited but still a little nervous for it-as with all races. There are going to be some good athletes there so we will see. All I can do is stick to my race plan, give a race effort, and see what happens! Hope everyone is doing well also!!!
  5. I am also curious of the response to that one...I made risotto the other night as well. I put so many veggies in it that its more like a vegetarian paradise with a little bit of grain..I wanna see a picture of the finished project though!
  6. Being sick does stink but try to jump back on the wagon! You can do it! and yes my week 4 is awesomesauce!!!
  7. Hey, how's the last week gone for you? I'm sure you are still kicking ass with your challenge and new recipes!!
  8. GREAT WORKOUT TODAY!!!!!!!! yay! 4 mile tempo at 546 pace after a solid warmup and threshold mile (608), and finished with 200m hill repeats avg 38 seconds...man my ass is going to be sore! I'm hoping to hit 95 miles this week and its looking good! I got to do most of the workout with my training partner and roommate. She has to run most of the workouts alone so she was happy I got to join her. Food challenge is going great. My veggie intake is really upped and carbs are lower. I still need some healthy grains to keep my energy levels up to run but I am not consuming processed foods or dairy. Overall, I am eating a ton healthier and am feeling great. I was actually talking with my roomie earlier about my energy levels. Last year I was struggling to do 90 a week and it took almost 2 months for me to adjust and not feel like $h!t and now I am hoping right into it with fantastic energy levels. It could be the endorphins talking but I am overall very pleased with how this challenge is affecting me. @Sythez: I know! margaritas with Mexican food is like a given haha. I'm a sucker for tequilla...and its paleo I'm pretty sure so...haha It SUCKS when things don't work! My lab's GC/MS isn't working and our usual repairman is no longer on staff so were SOL... and the instrumentation I was going to use this week-Graphite furnace and Flame Atomic Absorption doesn't have the Argon gas needed...grrr..but what can you do at this point besides prepare for the next one? and yes, it does help sooo much to be able to connect the lab and lecture which is why I take my job pretty seriously. I want them to be able to learn it and really grasp the concepts.
  9. Looking good! I personally load up on more veggies where they are a little more than half my plate but thats because I don't feel satisfied if theres a lot of room left in my stomach.
  10. btw forgot to tell you that I got my picky eater roommate to eat the cauliflower 'rice' without noticing...kudos batwoman!!
  11. Thanks! yeah, next challenge I'm thinking to give myself some leadway on the drinking..especially these kids...they drive me to the tequillla!!!!!! hah and you too! Everyone I'm following is making such an awesome transformation!
  12. congrats on the pushups! and bike license!!! awesome!! I know it's a bit early but are you going to be batman for halloween?
  13. glad to hear you are surviving midterms and illness-gives hope to the rest of us!! Teachers can be pretty awesome at times-helping out and all. I give my students more chances to succeed ie making up tests/quizzes/etc that were 'one time only' more often than not if they communicate with me whatever the reason may be-illness, family emergency. My problem is the opposite-if there is no food in the house I end up not eating which can be bad because then you have NO energy for the days to follow-I make a bunch of different things and then in the morning bust the tupperware out (if I can find the effing lid ever) and put a little bit of everything in. I make pretty colorful salads and 1bowl meals with rices/noodles, meat and veggies and maybe a fruit on the side.
