  1. *Compulsive* is a great description of the fast food/candy/donuts habit I have. I have a job where I drive around a lot, which means I drive by Wendy's seemingly 100 times a day, which means I have to resist 100 times until it closes (finally, for the love of...). It's great that you cooked your meals! Seems like you nailed the hardest goals. Sometimes it's easiest for me to crush the hard one and then the other "easier" ones get let go. It is awesome about you checking through your finances and trimming out things that aren't important. Keep it up!
  2. Hi there. Sounds like you are making great progress on your goals. Doing pull ups will be on of my future goals. I just chose to tackle the deadlifts first. Anyway, I know right now it maybe seems like you'll never get there with the pull ups or the running. But you will! Someday you'll pull yourself up to the bar and it will be crazy! And your running will catch up too. Acclimatizing to that high intensity stuff might be pretty steep if your body isn't used to it. Good luck this week!
  3. Today: 1. Worked on deadlifting on work break. Didn't go too heavy yet to make sure I am getting form down. Grade: A 2. We had pizza at work. Need I say more. F 3. I did stretching in conjunction with my workout. B 4. Still have not started on hunter's ed stuff. F
  4. Thanks for pointing out the stretching videos! I will give those a try. Thanks for the encouragement!
  5. I'm very glad you bounced back from your disappointing day earlier and had a good day yesterday! Perhaps we both have tendencies toward perfectionism. I know I feel like if I don't get the whole thing perfect every day, I should just give up because it's all ruined. Wrong! Correct answer is: pull your big girl panties up and move on! I also have problems with compulsively eating fast food, even when I brought dinner. I guess I just have to make my dinner sound better. A website I found helpful for saving and personal finance etc is http://www.moneyunder30.com. Hope you have another good day tomorrow!
  6. I like your pics. Sound like you found a good workout program that works for you. What is your favorite paleo recipe? Good luck!
  7. I can really empathize with the bed demon. I have spent days and weeks in bed half sleeping, surfing the internet, watching movies, you name it. Suddenly eating and bathing don't matter. My husband calls it "the nest." I am so impressed with your bedroom transformation! Keep up the good work! I think your goals are great and look forward to seeing your progress.
  8. So today's activities: -make paleo spaghetti. I have all the ingredients except the tomato paste. When I get home from the store, we'll be ready to rock and roll. -I did some body weight exercises earlier. I will do some more later this evening. Later: -do one hunter's ed module.
  9. Hi, all. I've been lurking on NF for a while and I want in. Hope I'm not quite too late for this challenge round. Main Quest: Improve strength / lift heavy things (Round 1). Why? I don't want to be the weakest link. My husband and coworkers are mostly all active people and I'm tired of being the one holding up the show. I want to go hunting this fall and be able to keep up. I want a freezer full of elk meat! I've been pretty directionless as far as my fitness, and I think it's time to get organized. I am calling this improve strength #1 because there will be several more improve strength installations to follow! How: 1. Learn how to deadlift -- I feel like this is the foundation, and I suck at it. I need to be working out more often period. I want to specifically strength train at least 3 days a week and do calisthenics or aerobic stuff on 2 other days. 2. Eat things that will help support my workouts -- isn't this always the biggest challenge? I'm trying to shift to a paleo-type diet. I want to try a new recipe each week and commit to making my food in advance so I'm not tempted to eat out. 3. Stretch -- I have been neglecting this. I feel so much better when I stretch. I don't know why it's so hard to do it. I would like to do this daily. Life Quest: Complete online hunter's ed classes. Thanks for checking out my post! If you have any favorite paleo recipes (I'm not going strict for now), please share! Any other suggestions are welcome.
