  1. Holy crap! Haha. So I got swamped with work in December and completely forgot about this post until just now. I really appreciate all the advice! There has been quite a "war" going on on here, haha. That's awesome though; gave me two different perspectives. I realize now that I didn't post any stats or much info in the original post. I'll do a side by side at the bottom. I'll quickly summarize my journey over the past 2 months. After the original post, I dived back into healthy eating. I didn't necessarily follow a Paleo diet, but I ate very healthy and have been since the beginning of December. I continued cardio and tacked on about a half hour of lifting every day (swapping focus points every day). I have a ton of energy now-a-days and feel great all around. I've lost weight, decreased by body fat %, and built muscle. Keep in mind when looking at my stats, that I have a naturally big / built frame, so I don't look obese or anything. I'm 6'5" fyi. When I posted in December I was about 305 lbs, 31% body fat, 47in waist, 16in neck, 14in bicep, 46in chest, 31in quad, 11in forearm. As of now I'm down to about 290 lbs, 28% body fat, 43in waist, 18in neck, 16in bicep, 45in chest, 27in quad, 13.5in forearm. I'm very happy with the results, both physically and mentally. I had a hard time with liquid calories when I started, but at this point anything but water just tastes way to sweet and I'm not a fan. I believe that I've made a change that will follow me throughout my life! Thank you all so much and again, I apologize for not following up sooner. Your argument is valid El Exorcisto, but I'm gonna have to agree with David_P01 on this. Eating better makes it a lot easier to achieve a caloric deficit than if I went to McDonalds. I'd like to say my willpower is strong, but if I had been eating fast food these past few months (even once) I know for a fact that I would have broke and recessed back into my old habits. Switching to a better diet made eating better not feel like a "diet" which made the change a hell of a lot easier. Either way, thanks to all again!
  2. So I had been eating completely Paleo for a solid 2 1/2 months along with exercising. After all that time though I had lost maybe 3 lbs and nothing changed with my BMI. My motivation nose-dived and I recessed quite a lot for a little over a month. I'm feeling pumped at the moment and I'm planning on running full force back into the routine again, but was I doing something wrong before? I tracked my calorie intake about 2 times a week during my first run through and I was riding an average of 2,300 calories a day. I lifted, did some yoga, and ran for a combined total of an hour and a half each day. Does it just take a good long while before something happens? In any case I've re-motivated myself and will be starting again first thing tomorrow morning. Any advice would be awesome though! Thanks. -Andre
  3. Hey man, sorry it took so long to respond. Right?! Filmmaking thus far is awesome! Definitely going to be an awesome career. So far, I have completely cut out all liquid calories since the first post and have made a fairly drastic change in my eating habits. Temptations are everywhere, and I mean freaking everywhere, but for the most part I've been following a paleo diet with a few instances of dairy and grain. After about a week of just water and paleo diet, i've got to say I'm feeling pretty damn good! I have a lot more energy (which means I can go harder at my work out) and just feel better all around. It's been tough this past week, but based off just these initial results I'm more than happy to keep pushing forward! Thanks a lot for the support! And when I make my first Hollywood movie, I'll toss your name in the credits out of good faith, haha.
  4. Hello everyone, I am currently studying filmmaking in college and my school (and classes) operate 24/7. With that said, my schedule is rather messed up on a daily basis. I had a class from 9pm yesterday till about 4am this morning. Another class is coming up at 9am. I stumbled across this site during my down time and am thoroughly excited about it! I am 6'5" and weigh roughly 310lbs. My body fat percentage is 30%. I played football throughout high school and lifted during that time and occasionally during school now. Even with that, somehow I seemed to maintain a lot of weight. Granted I have a fair amount of muscle, but there is a fairly thick layer of fat that sits on top of that muscle and no matter what I do, I can't get rid of it. I had kind of given up on it, but what I've read so far I am very excited to start this program! At the moment I have about $5 in my account after bills and unfortunately I just did my grocery shopping for the month, so this first month will still be unsatisfactory in terms of food. My goals for the first month, however, is to start doing more cardio work and switch to water. I have a major problem with the second one. I drink a lot of soda, juice, sweet tea; literally anything that's not water. That step is going to be incredibly difficult step for me, but I feel that once I've overcome that, I can make the food switch a lot easier. I worked as a chef for 3 years and have a passion for cooking, so I am not worried in the slightest about doing that. I've read a lot about the fitness guide and look forward to getting it. I don't have to many close friends down here and am across the country from all my family, so support has been an extremely limiting factor, so this online resource will hopefully be my main drive and I'm enthralled to have the support of this massive community of people with the same interests! I look forward to seeing how this plays out! Thanks, Andre
