  3. Help a newbie lifter out. In the past few months, I've graduated from using the machines to using free weights. But I have some lingering questions about whether I'm using the equipment properly. Is there even a right way to do this? Do I load weight plates with the flat side in, or the flat side out? Also, the spring clamps ("collars"?) - they seem to have an angle to them... should they angle toward the plates or away? Am I being concerned about something that has absolutely no impact on anything? Thanks

  10. Yesterday morning was a good gym day. I ran 3 miles in 28:30, which is part of my "Endurance Feat" for the RPG adverture accountabilibuddies we're doing. I upped my deadlift to 5 sets of 5 @ 205#, which felt good, but I worry about my grip strength. I felt like I was just holding on by my fingertips, which didn't feel safe. I think I still have plenty of capacity to increase the weight from 110 on my 5x5 bench presses. The best part was that I was able to crank out a set of 12 pull ups during the workout without too much trouble. My second set was 8, and my third was 4. Feeling pretty goo
