  1. danced until 4am, handling work on 4 hours of sleep! :D #highfiving trees on my way to work

  2. yesterday i did 3 sets of REAL box push ups where i actually go all the way down to the floor! been doing them cheatingly all my life haha x) felt so incredibly good biggest smile on my face!
  3. thats fucking AWESOME!!! :D:D congratulations! well done!
  4. haha im also doing needle point and knitting socks. young grannies ftw! its great you're on your way back, congratulations for being that strong what about the gym scares you so much? for me it was mostly that i didnt know the proper form etc, ie how to do the stuff. thats why i usually kept to the cross trainer and rowing machine cause they were "safe", but now i discovered lifting weights is awesome ^-^
  5. standing desk doesnt seem like such a good idea when you're sleep deprived and swaying back and forth :P

  6. im a newbie mostly-paleo myself (i still do oatmeal porridge in the mornings) what i do is a rub oregano, basil and some salt on chicken breasts and fry them, then i chop up carrots, brocolli, sweet potatoes and put them in a tray, pour some olive oil pepper and salt on them and 20 min in the oven. then i just chop and fry whatever i have like mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, peppers, zucchini.. and then i mix it all in a bowl and have food for daays. and its SO freaking good every time! i spend about an hour every 4 days cooking, and put them all in ready-to-go boxes easy-peasy. i love the fact that you can eat so much, cause im NOT the kind of girl who goes on a starving-diet
  7. hi, welcome! i LOVE nature too, i grew up in a supertiny place but we lived right at the river and own a lot of forest so at least i had that to do thats one of the reason i love Dublin, cause there nature in the city and gorgeous places just 15 min away with the dart
  8. hi! welcome! im also working through some bad stuff, but the last 3 weeks since i started lifting weights ive been feeling brilliant. so it definitely helps, at least for me especially to show my body that it can do good stuff, and get better and feel good. so keep it up, you're doing a great job starting working out again
  9. i really liked it, i started seeing the upper abs after 4 days O.O so it was great to loose that extra weight i had put on in Texas (was there for a few months, you cant get ANYWHERE without a car. sucks ) i never did month 2, cause 1)it was more than an hour with the extra stretches i do and i couldnt get the time for that and 2)i admit it was too intensive for me. mostly mentally, i couldnt keep it up. the first month was great though, i kept doing that a few times a week while i was running for the half marathon actually i did so great with it because i got really good stamina with Insanity. so i do recommend it! but as you say its a bit boring especially after a month, i really prefer to GO somewhere for my workout and have others around me ive basically only been reading the articles here on nerdfitness and got all i needed to start lifting (love the article about Stacy) and i mean, if you only do say squats, deadlifts, chest press, dips and pullups how much research is it really to do
  10. thank you ^^ i really like your attitude in your profile. keep it up! i like positive and fighting people
  11. well what the title said anyone in this musical city of mine to join me in fitness-nerditity?
  12. hi! so I'm a 22yo girl from the north of Sweden, who immigrated abroad 3 years ago atm I' back in Dublin, Ireland, for a while (i travel and move quite a lot). I'm a massage therapist even if i haven't had the chance to work with it yet, right now I'm back at my old job just to be able to live for a while. generally I'm a happy girl, with a lot of energy for weird projects and dancing my ass off to brilliant music. i love talking and laughing (some people don' get my sarcastic humor), and being in nature. since i grew up in the middle of a very beautiful nowhere that's where i feel my best. otherwise i have random interests like needlepoint, reading, cinema, hiking, writing, fitness and challenging myself to be my best and better every day. my fitness story: i started running when i was 12, and went a special program in secondary school where i had an extra day each week just for sports. so I've always been quite fit, especially for things like cross country skiing, running, floor ball and so on. every time i got sick i would have problems getting back on track, so sometimes i would fall into a quite lazy habit. i always walk though, i walk EVERYWHERE if i can if my legs can take me there, i cant see why i would take the bus. this spring i hit a new low and decided to do Insanity! i was really excited and woke up at 5.50 every morning to do it before i walked 6 km to work. i did about 6 weeks of it, when i signed up for my first half marathon and started running instead. a few days after the race (the beginning in August, i did waay better than expected and fundraised 110 euros for charity! ) I signed up for a gym and here i am! just getting started with lifting weights, and i feel like a fucking bad ass every time i might be the only girl in the "big boys" room, and i might not be throwing around too much yet - but I'm doing it, I'm loving it and this time i know its for life i always cooked my own meals (lived on my own since i was 16), and now I'm doing about 95% paleo and feel great. i love cooking and this concept, since I've developed a high suspiciousness against readily cooked food. i had already stopped eating bread from the stores and milk, so it wasn't a hard transition. right now I would say im a Scout, but I aim to be and am already working towards being a Ranger. ready for anything and everything my motto that inspires me is "you have to do what other's won't, to achieve what others don't". i love that one. so, in quite a lot of words, that's me
  13. hi! also a newbie here, and started going to the gym 3 weeks ago i got a training program with machines from a gymguy, which i did for a week and felt good about it cause i was also a bit scared. it felt safe. but that week i found this site and spend ALL day every day reading fitness articles, and found another guy and told him i want to do free weights. i was scared since ive never tried squats with barbells, bench presses etc, so i sucked it up and asked for help. and as soon as i got started - i feel fucking badass. i might be the ONLY girl in the "big boys" room, i might be shoulder pressing 10kg atm, but im fucking doing it and what other people think - well, usually they just look impressed that im doing a squat, no matter its only 30kg. i know you're a guy, but my point with this rambling is do this for YOU. i see that you WANT to be there, you WANT to feel like you belong - well, the thing is that you already do. that's just in your head, so i say use your 20 seconds of courage today and just go there. ask for help if you need it and ignore those voices in your head and before you know it you'll be exactly where you want to be i remind myself that those buff guys also started out with 10 kg. they just worked really hard to get where they are. so go! JUST DO IT as the all-mighty steve would say
