  2. I agree, arrowroot powder is very neutral in taste and takes on the taste of the dish without being strong flavored on its own. Best substitute for flour/corn starch. Actually arrowroot gives a better glaze than the sometimes clumpy feel corn starch gives if it gets thickened too much.
  3. I have not been to such dangerous places, but as far as I realize, even though you have learnt any kind of self defense you will need practical experience as James said above. I too would suggest that before you leave for this place get practical experience to keep your senses sharp and alert (which I am sure due to the whole danger element your adrenaline will take care of), but what I mean is improving your reflexes is very important. You have to be able to use your opponents strength against them and be very quick about it. Also it never hurts to learn archery, firearms (cause it is not as easy as pointing and shooting), also learning to fight with just a knife or anything sharp. I am just saying all this cause when I put myself in your place I thought that these would be the most practical things to learn before going there. Isn't it better to be prepared for that environment in any means possible? I just cannot stress on the importance of having quick reflexes, because even if you think that you are quick when the actual situation presents itself you will realize whether u are or not, but I am sure you don't want to realize it at that time. So get some first hand experience as James mentioned above or any other things that you can find to improve it. Sometimes it is important to know when to run and when to take a stand. Remember even a seconds slowness on ur part can change the situation. Being a woman you can use your strength only to so much extent, so you have to learn other ways to beat them and I am sure if you put your whole focus on it you can do it and come back home safe and in one piece. Good luck!!
  4. Well, probably being gluten free you can incorporate it, depends on what the gluten free bread is made up of. If you like preparing bread in the house, below i have put 2 links with superb paleo bread recipes. http://www.thepaleomom.com/paleo-breads http://guiltykitchen.com/2013/04/15/paleo-sandwich-bread/ Again for pasta gluten free depends on what it is made up. If there is any kind of grain in it, then it is not paleo, but if you are not very particular about it, i guess you can ignore it. There are also pasta made from squash, but if you are a more adventurous in the kitchen check out this link. http://www.paleocupboard.com/paleo-pasta.html Hope that helps.
  5. I had read some great stuff about gelatin, so decided to start taking it and see. It has been two days now since I have started to consume unflavored gelatin as a supplement. I am sure it will take time to see any noticeable difference, but in the meantime I wanted to know if anybody else out there is taking it and what has been your experience taking it. I am using 1 tbsp gelatin powder dissolved in hot water and drinking it just before I go to bed that is at least more than 3 hours after dinner and as soon as I get up an hour before breakfast on empty stomach.
  6. Hi, I have never been camping myself, so I cannot tell by experience, but I found some helpful blogs of people who have done camping paleo. Just check them out and see if it helps. http://www.katrina-runs.com/paleo-meals-for-camping http://www.ourpaleolife.com/2013/07/camping-paleo-edition/ http://paleoparents.com/featured/glamping-how-to-camp-paleo-style-with-glamour-2/ Have a fun trip

  10. Thanks for all the help girls. My first day of workout was a success without feeling drowsy or sleepy. Though of course I was feeling a bit tired, but I was feeling quite energetic too, so the tiredness didn't actually bother me. As all of you had suggested I saw to it and I ate good carbs and plenty of protein every few hours and I never felt sleepy Thank you all so much for the advice.
  11. Thanks LittleMissSunshine, that makes a lot of sense to me, because I never used to eat properly before or after the workout. It was very less. This time I am changing all that, so it should not be a problem for me, I hope.
  12. Right now I am going to start with NF strength training manual the beginner's workout. Yet to determine how long it will exactly last for me.
  13. sorry guys that was a phrasing error, my bad. My workout used to be just for 20 minutes. the thing is I tend to get tired and drowsy even if i do walking for a short distance. I have not been able to make out whether it was due to lack of exercise for long periods of time and my body not being used to it, or maybe the food was the cause. I haven't yet been able to pin out the source.
