Day 22, Monday. Lunch was a sandwich with veg on it (a hearty pile of spinach), and some chips (+1 good choices [not fast fried food], +1 veg). Dinner was salmon cakes, mushrooms, and roast broccoli and cauliflower (+2 veggies, +1 seafood). Listening was this week in law, this week in tech, and Tim ferriss show. The lesson for the day was that some people can't learn from past experiences. Activity for the day included 4.7 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 6h45 of sleep that night. Watched Game of Thrones and Last Week Tonight and did my best to relax despite the late call to go fix an emergency at work. Day 23, Tuesday. Lunch was buffalo wings (no points, fried but not breaded which is the spirit of my plan so I'm going with that). Dinner was carnitas nachos, and then later some garlic bread (-1 snacking). Listening included cordkillers, lovecast, paleo solution, and barbell shrugged. The lesson for the day was that dentists are never satisfied. Activity for the day included 2.9 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 7h15 of sleep that night. Watched the Simpsons before we wandered off to darts, and 4 episodes of Black Mirror while I waited for Mrs Shu to get home from work (I got off way early for the day). Bis Abend!
  2. ^ for shin splints As stated, if you run walk you'll finish no problem. Have fun!

Teri, if you can't find anything nice to say you can always compliment my sleeping skills. And I do alright with veggies anymore, at least getting any, but there's always room for more. Day 20, Saturday. Lunch was leftover pizza and some chips with dip (+1 veg, pizza had veggies). Dinner was chicken, and mozzarella sticks (-1 fried, -1 fast food). Listening for the day was music. The lesson for the day was that sometimes there are simple mechanical solutions to your complex problems. Activity for the day included, 4.2 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 7h15 of sleep that night. Spent most of the afternoon/evening playing video games with Mrs. Shu, it was a fun evening. Day 21, Sunday. Lunch was chicken, a swiss melt, and some cheese curds (-1 fast food, -1 fried). Dinner was a ton of salad, and some turkey breast (+2 veggies, +1 good choices [didn't go out for dinner]). Listening today was more music. Todays lesson was that some people just always have the worst possible timing. Activity today included 2 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 7h45 of sleep last night. Went and saw Avengers this morning, got a haircut this afternoon, and visited the in-laws in the evening; full day. So, how about them goals eh? Inputs: -7 unless I retroactively remember the pizza had some veggies on it, then it's -5. Either way this week blew with regard to food. I ate too much fast food, too much fried food, and didn't cook enough at home for a plethora of reasons (mostly emotional). Power: I did pretty good on the sleep this cycle as noted by unit Teri. There's always room for improvement but it is staying in reasonable parameters. Data: I have completed the Running Skill portion of book, and the majority of the Programming section of same, it is this units hope to make notable headway into the Strength Skills and possibly Mobility Skills sections of book over the next week. Faster: The unit made one excursion for endurance activity during the cycle, this is insufficient. A minimum of two will occur during the next week as scheduled communal events but a third (and perhaps fourth) should also occur for preparatory reasons. Lubricate: The unit has done little to improve the lubrication of joints beyond basic maintenance of some aspects of the lower body articulations. Summary: The unit is still operational, somehow, but shows lack of adherence to goals. Unit is in need of upgrades. Bis Next Woche! (PS, I'll post an updated weight for the mid-challenge tomorrow when I can actually get one properly).
  4. It depends a lot on the route. If there's a lot of cover on the path, underpasses or tons of trees or etc. which keep it from getting a good signal it can be a bit all over the place but usually I find it to be fairly accurate (within a quarter mile on over a half marathon is pretty typical).

Teri, affirmative. Day 17, Wednesday. Lunch was chicken and a milkshake (-1 fried, -1 fast food, -2 sweets). Dinner was a cheese crisp, a chicken quesadilla, and some grilled veggies (+1 veg). Listening was Security Now, Savage Lovecast, Radiolab, and some music. The lesson of the day was that nothing is ever as good as it used to be. Activity for the day included, 2.2 miles of running, 4.7 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 6h45 of sleep that night. Went to watch Ex Machina with Mrs. Shu, enjoyable film. Day 18, Thursday. Lunch was chicken and shrimp (-1 fast food, -1 fried, +1 seafood). Dinner was pizza and cheese bread (yeah, I got nothing on this one). Listening included a lot of music. The lesson of the day was that sometimes picking mostly at random yields correct results. Activity for the day included, 3.9 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 7h15 of sleep that night. Got home and watched some Parks and Rec, MacGuyver, Agents of Shield, and Zero Theorem (triply that one). Got a chunk of reading done in the book (finished the Running skill section, read through part of the programming section instead of moving on to cycling or swimming). Day 19, Friday. Lunch was a chicken sandwich and fries (-1 fast food, -1 fried). Dinner was leftover pizza. Listening today was music, Home Theater Geeks, NomNomPaleo, and Barbell Shrugged (thinking I'm gonna add that one to my weekly rotation for a while and see how it is). Activity today included, 5.5 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 7h sleep last night. Got home late from work and watched part of the animated version of the Hobbit, and John Dies at the End. Finished up the programming section of the book, now to backtrack to the Strength as a Skill section and work toward where programming started up. Bis Morgen!

Day 16, Tuesday. Lunch today was chicken, and mozzarella sticks (-1 Fried, -1 Fast Food). Dinner was a chicken tortilla soup and some nachos, followed by the rest of the other nights dairy queen (+1 veg, -2 sweets). Listening today included Paleo Solution, and Cordkillers. Todays lesson was that eventually you can solve most problems if you just keep trying different things. Activity today included, 7.6 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 6h15 of sleep last night, early day at work today sadly. Got home from work late on top of the early morning, watched Gotham and Community and called it a night. Bis Morgen!

Day 15, Monday. Lunch was a burrito with guac and veg from chipotle, plus chips and more guac (+2 veg, -1 fast food). Dinner was pad thai with shrimp and chicken (+1 veg, no bonus for seafood because it was seriously 3 shrimp). LIstening today included This Week in Law, Tim Ferriss Show, This Week in Tech, and some music. Todays lesson was that sometimes a plan comes together nice and easy like. Activity today included, 4.7 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 7h sleep last night. Was going to cook dinner tonight but some of the ingredients had gone bad and they were important ones, so we fell back on the local thai place instead. Watched Game of Thrones, the Simpsons, Last Week Tonight, and an episode of Daredevil. Bis Morgen!

Day 14, Sunday. Lunch today was a burger, fries, onion strings, and part of a milkshake (-1 fried, -1 fast food, -2 sweets). Dinner was a sandwich with spinach and olives and peppers on it, some chips, and part of a dairy queen (+1 veggies, +1 better choices [wasn't fast food, which it almost was], -2 sweets). LIstening today was music. Todays lesson was that you can spend a lot of time just trying to save time. Activity today included, 4.2 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 8h30 of sleep last night, glorious sleep. Spent the day doing more cleaning and errand running, then watched Mad Max 2, Anastasia, and cleaned up the watch lists for movies and TV we have setup to stream. Overall a decent end to a nice weekend. So, how'd the week go? Sanitize: Unit achieved a net score of +2 for food input this week, down from last week but still above minimum threshold. Power: This unit maintained proper operational values of rest during this observation period. Data: The unit failed to procure measurably useful amounts of new printed data this week. Output: The unit did not perform and strengthening routines but did perform an endurance activity with additional strengthening component once during the observation period. Lubrication: This unit managed to keep all joints functioning properly through repeated operation of same. Bis nexte Woche!

Day 13, Saturday. Lunch was some chips and guac, chicken, corn on the cob, and fries (-1 fried, +1 veg [guac]). Dinner was pork rinds and almonds (+1 good choices, alternatives were all fast food and fried or etc so this was the good choice oddly). Listening today was all music. Todays lesson was that you can always come up with more things to do, but whether or not you should is a different question. Activity today included 4.2 miles of rucking (4 bricks for Pat's Run) which made for a fun run, 4.4 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 6h15 of sleep last night, early morning for the race. Watched Mad Max and Stripes, got a lot of cleaning done around the apartment (with more to come on the spring cleaning list), and a little decorating with some improvements to the new dart setup and some posters up in the hallway. Bis Morgen!

bgv, it was me wanting to test out running with my ruck before my race today, but it didn't happen so I just went ahead and rucked it today anyway. teri, got to it today finally, and it's amazing the lessons one can learn from life if one only watches for them. Day 11, Thursday. Lunch was a fish taco, a shrimp taco, and a mahi burrito (+1 fish, +1 good food choices). Dinner was fried rice, with leftover ham (+1 vegetables). Listening for the day was Cordkillers, and some music. The lesson for the day was that sometimes it'd good to just take some time to relax. Activity for the day included, 2 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 7h45 of sleep that night. Not a whole lot else that sticks out from that day, watched Agents of Shield, started Daredevil. Day 12, Friday. Lunch was chicken, hummus, pita to contain both, and a plate of steamed veggies (+1 veggies, +1 good choices). Dinner was sushi, a lot of sushi (+2 seafood). Listening was Home Theater Geeks, NomNomPaleo, and some music. The lesson for the day was that while Rodney Dangerfield had some good points, it could always be worse. Activity for the day included, 3 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 7h sleep that night. Watched Stand by Me when we got home from sushi. Today should be up tonight. Thanks for keeping up with things around here, keeps me honest. Bis Nocht!

No ruck today, check back tomorrow. Day 10, Wednesday. Lunch was chicken and cheese curds (-1 fried, -1 Fast food). Dinner was a sandwich from subway (0 points). Listening today included, Latest in Paleo, Security Now, Cordkillers, more of Doc and Jock (probably won't keep this one up), and the Heart. Todays lesson was that things don't just disappear, sometimes they just fade away. Activity today included, 5.3 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 6h45 of sleep last night. Spent the evening at home with Mrs. Shu, watched House of Cards (finished Season 3), Gotham (struggling to keep on with Season 1), Community, and an episode of Elegant Universe. Pretty good day really. Bis Morgen!

Wuf, that was pretty sneaky, good work. Day 8, Monday. Lunch was chicken teriyaki, pepper chicken, and beef and broccoli, plus fried rice, an egg roll, and a couple spring rolls (+1 veggies, -1 Fast Food). Dinner was bibimbap (+1 veggies). Listening for the day included This Week in Law, This Week in Tech, NomNomPaleo podcast, and Doc and Jock (trying that one out since it's new). The lesson for the day was that sometimes the observable problems don't at all line up with the reported problems. Activity for the day included, 3.4 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 7h sleep that night. Got home from work and spent the evening at home relaxing and doing a little advance prep on meals for the week; also watched Game of Thrones, Last Week Tonight, House of Cards, and SNL. Day 9, Tuesday. Lunch was a footlong from subway, and a blizzard from dairy queen (+1 Veg, -2 Sweets). Dinner was "spaghetti sauce" from the Paleo Slow Cooker book, over pasta; the recipe wasn't bad, but I felt it was too thin and could have bumped up the flavor easily with a few substitutions I will try next time around. Listening today included Tim Ferriss Show, Paleo Solution, Savage Lovecast, Cordkillers, and part of Latest in Paleo. Todays lesson was that some people just don't know when to quit, other people just don't know they should. Activity today included, 4.2 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 7h30 of sleep last night. Got home, put up the new dart board (had to move a poster in addition to putting up the board), and finished up dinner. After darts I got the bricks strapped into my ruck with the new setup I am gonna test out, and am ready for my run/ruck tomorrow morning. Bis Morgen!

Bgv, balance is important, and not always easy to find. Day 5, Friday. Lunch was Mongolian (+1 good choices, +1 veggies). Dinner was chicken, fries, and fried mushrooms and zuchinni (-1 fried, +1 veggies). Listening was Home Theater Geeks and some music. The lesson for the day was that surface friction is an important trait to monitor. Activity for the day included 4.5 miles of walking and the Streak. Got 6h30 of sleep that night. Day 6, Saturday. Brunch was a pork bao from the farmers market. Lunch was a ton of sushi (+2 seafood). Dinner was a small pizza and some garlic bread (0, the point from making a good selection of source is nullified for the pig out factor of eating an entire pizza claiming to feed multiple people). Listening was music. The lesson for the day was that while one can process multiple tasks at once sometimes there are outside factors that limit throughput. Activity for the day included 3.5 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 7h30 of sleep that night. Spent the day running errands, doing cleanup at the apartment, and watching movies. Good day. Day 7, Sunday. Lunch was two cheeseburgers and some fries (-1 fried, -1 fast food). Dinner was salad, ham, roast broccoli, and some apple crumble (+2 vegetables, -2 sweets). Listening today was music. Today's lesson was that sometimes it's faster to just consult the map. Activity today included 2.2 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 7h15 of sleep last night. Went to mrs shu's nephews hockey game (finished the season undefeated) and ran a few errands before going to visit her folks. So how'd the goals for this week? Tabulate! Input sanitization: this unit achieved a net score of +5 for inputs this cycle, in excess of that required to achieve minimum compliance. His success is noted. Reserve power: this unit recharged for a sufficient amount across the 7 rotation cycle, while some solar cycles were below minimum thresholds others were sufficiently above for requirements. Data acquisition: this unit absorbed some of the data from the instruction manual, but in insufficient quantities. More data required. Improve output capacity: this unit maintained current baselines but failed to expand on work capacity. Lubrication: this unit maintained proper lubrication of existing joint function, but failed to add additional functional range. Bis nexte Woche!

Day 4, Thursday. Lunch today was pepper steak (I can't spell french), mashed potatoes, a salad, and a strawberry shortcake (+1 vegetable, -2 sweets). Dinner was a couple hotdogs, some nachos, and some cinnamon nuts (no points). Listening today was all music. Todays lesson was that cloning is still a pipe dream, but some people choose to believe it's a reality, or possibly teleportation. Activity today included, 4.5 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 6h45 of sleep last night, early work today, should have gone to sleep a hair earlier. Got home and just kind of flopped on the couch. Wore a hole through my work jeans today so apparently this weekend needs to include a trip to pick up some more of those. Bis Morgen!
  18. There are no magic bullets. If you can complete w3d1 then start from there, if not then I'd say start at W1d2 and just keep at it, by week 7 I think it's up to mostly running as memory serves and for a first 5k taking a walk break in the middle isn't a shameful thing (for any run really, you do what you have to for you not for everyone else), especially on short notice.
  19. Star Wars was actually a different course than Tinkerbell, they are both pretty good courses. Have yet to see how Tinkerbell moving to May works out for it, will let you know when it's come and gone.

Teri, I'm sure some of it is, but definitely not all of it. I don't really do measurements, but I should. My high fitbit mileage is basically the only regular activity I get most days so I definitely appreciate it. BGV, I've not really paid much attention to my food beyond noting it daily for a while now and that's not been good for my results. But, time to change that and the weight that moves with it. Day 3, Wednesday. Lunch was shrimp and chicken (-1 for fast food and -1 for fried). Dinner was the other half of Monday nights sandwich (+1 vegetables, +2 packing a lunch). Listening today included Security Now, and some music. Todays lesson was that everything happens, it's our function to continue upon our task and adapt to that. Activity today included, 4.7 miles of walking, and the Streak. Got 5h45 of sleep last night, did not go to bed until late and paid the price for it. Got to read some of the book today and made it up to some form drills, so I'll probably start trying to incorporate those into my daily work in the next day or two. After work came home and watched 12 Monkeys and Last Week Tonight. Good times. Bis Morgen!
