  1. My best friend is now on board for my newest attempt to give up Dunkin Donuts mochas...Her support should make a huge difference in my baby step!

    1. TMedina

      TMedina

      Yay for support mechanisms! :D

  2. Salc- I went to Smith! That area has some fantastic food options. Take advantage of them- I never did when I was in school and I gained so much weight. And variety is always good. If nothing else you won't get bored when it comes to food!
  3. Hello! I just signed up for the Nashua Crop Walk at the end of October. I was wondering if there were going to be any other rebels going. I'd love to meet you!
  4. Hello all, After commenting on the Planet Fitness post (I am currently looking for a better gym) I was wondering if people could share their opinions on Golds Gym. It's not far from where I live and work (which with my schedule is a huge plus), but I'm not entirely sure. I'm interested in starting to do some heavy lifts (just not possible at my PF location) and I don't really care for machine cardio- I'd much rather go for walks with my husband and dog. Is Golds a good sounding option, or should I just keep looking? Also, if anyone is in the southern NH area and has recommendations (I can't afford something too expensive), feel free to send them my way!
  5. I love the different styles approach! I think I'm going to try that. There are definitely some video game characters that would be fun to attempt to emulate!
  6. I've just recently started to clean up my eating by bringing my snacks to work. I just stick an apple in my bag- nice and easy! I can't really help with sleep. My position at work means I can be there anywhere between 5am and 11pm. As for exercise though, just try to add a little more activity into your day. Park farther away so you have more steps. In a duel effort to give up fast food and add more steps I've banned the drive-through so I have to actually walk in to get my sugary coffee. Less appealing that way. I'd say just try adding little things in here and there. They'll add up, and when you are able to get into an actual exercise routine you'll have that to boost your expended calories!
  7. I've been with PF for a while and I'm ready to look somewhere else. I started going there because my mom has been paying for the membership for me as Christmas gifts. If you love cardio, it's great. Most of their strength training involved weight machines (yikes). While the facility I go to does have some free weights they are limited (the barbells don't go over 60 pounds) and all they have are smith machines, no squat racks or anything. I want to get more into heavy lifting so I am planning on looking somewhere else.
  8. I'm just getting starting to transition into paleo, but I'm planning on having my 20% be the days when I go out for drinks with friends, and the weekly dinners at my in-laws, although I might be having a chat with my mother in law shortly.
  9. I think I found a squash recipe my husband might actually eat! Definitely going to try this one!
  10. One time I marinated chicken breast in plain Greek yogurt with lots of curry powder for a couple of hours and then baked it. Quite flavorful and still quite juicy!
  11. 3rd day in a row of 1 trip to Dunkin Donuts...I think that's a new record! Next week, trying for only going to Dunks on weekends!

  12. I don't have kids, but I have a hubby that is incredibly supportive of my attempts (even though I'm getting back on the wagon for the 100th time) but often does not do so well himself. One thing I've been trying to do while the weather is still nice (I live in New England, so we're starting to run out of time on this) is to go to one of the local parks and take our dog for a walk. It gets us moving (which is always better than nothing). If you bring your kid hopefully he'll have so much fun running around and playing your hubs will want to join. Hopefully once he sees that exercise is not a chore or a duty but can be fun maybe he'll warm up to the idea. But like the others have said, you can't force him. I do hope he realizes how important taking care of his health is so he can see your child grow up. Best of luck!
  13. It keeps you full, it aids in all processes of the body, it's the best for quenching thirst (a lot of sodas and stuff with sugar can actually trigger hunger and cravings). Plus, it's the original "diet" drink! It takes up room in your stomach without being full of empty calories. Plus, I find that drinking ice water actually can help wake me up if I'm wicked tired. If I'm looking for flavor, I actually add a green tea or herbal tea bag. Still nearly no calories, and no fake sweeter! Generally, the less "fake" stuff in your body the better off you'll be.
