  1. When I look at my graph of my weight, I can place the biggest weight losses right after a week of no or very little training. I could almost say that it follows a pattern of 8 weeks training and 1 week off. Motivation and energy levels tend to wear off when doing a calorie deficit for a long time. Distracting yourself from training and dieting during that one week helps to refocus when it's time to start again.

    fruits?

Bananas contain lots of carbs. More than double the amount apples have. Carbs are arguably good for post workout recovery (there was a T-Nation article about that). But still you need protein and rest to grow the muscles. Nutrients in the skin of the apples are supposed to help to fight against muscle deterioration, so that would make them good specially during a diet! Avocados have lots of good fats and I'm sure there is other nice benefits from eating them.
  3. It's nice to read things like this every once in a while: Impossible to question Jagr's work ethic And then there is this classic for motivation: http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=woOu_4l3lio
  4. Thanks everyone! @ubum My goal is to be 77kg which would mean BMI of 23.5. But I'm more interested in my fat percentage at that point.
  5. I know BMI is not the best tools to measure ...I guess body composition? but anyway it's now 24.9 which is supposed to be within normal range. So YEY! the graph starts from May and the latest measurement is from today morning. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  6. Back from Budapest. I liked the city very much. Unfortunately I was sick for the last few days and actually today was a first day that I felt healthy again. Tried some chin-ups and pull-ups today to see wether I have improved or not. Only two pull-ups, but got 5 chin-ups! Hurrah! I might get a chance to try out the bench press tomorrow. Managed to exercise only 4-5 times during my vacation due to the fact that I was sick. No alcohol until the vacation was successful. Did bring food to work about half of the time. I will start doing this more often. (I have noticed that the leanest guys at work bring their own food.) Bonus goal was also successful! Weighted 82.8kg! Really happy about this since I had a lot of wine and cake in Budapest
  7. Interesting article about speed. I started hill sprinting a month ago as a HIIT exercise. This article made me think that I could have started by doing shorter sprints and longer recovery times. Now, It takes 55 to 60 seconds for me to run up and then I rest by walking down which takes 2 to 2,5 minutes. Yesterday was first time I was able to do this five times. Last uphill time being 1min 5sec. Usually I have been totally out of breath after the 4th round.
  8. Welcome! Seems like you are on track to a healthy lifestyle. Nicely done. I have thought that 2-party system is more efficient than multi-party system where all the parties tend to resemble each other. Though I can understand the frustration having followed US politics a bit. Maybe I should try yoga. Though I probably would be the only guy there. "No, I didn't come here only to stare at your asses"
  9. Seattle times article. Follow up questions: How can you train your neck muscles? Whats the best way to train the spinal erectors? Plank?
  10. I love your attitude. I tried some hill sprinting today and it's very hard to push yourself. I hope that comes with time and practice.
  11. Does anyone use an ipad app to read this forum? Which one? I just find it bit clumsy with my fingers on Safari
  12. Andrew W.K - Ready To Die This song should inspire everyone's workout!
  13. "It's pronounced Teh-ah-tim-eh, sir." I've been a fan of Pratchett's books and that movie was great. Memorable quote: Death: Humans need fantasy to *be* human. To be the place where the falling angel meets the rising ape. Susan: With tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Death: Yes. As practice, you have to start out learning to believe the little lies. Susan: So we can believe the big ones? Death: Yes. Justice, mercy, duty. That sort of thing. Susan: They're not the same at all. Death: You think so? Then take the universe and grind it down to the finest powder, and sieve it through the finest sieve, and then show me one atom of justice, one molecule of mercy. And yet, you try to act as if there is some ideal order in the world. As if there is some, some rightness in the universe, by which it may be judged. Susan: But people have got to believe that, or what's the point? Death: You need to believe in things that aren't true. How else can they become? oh and congrats on reaching a milestone on your challenge!
  14. Hi! It took about two days from discovering this site to purchase Nerd fitness e-book. So inspiring was the attitude towards life and fitness this site promotes. I specially enjoyed articles about superhero workouts. But also stuff like "how to live and train like a spartan". I hope in the future there will be a "how to live and train like a viking warrior" article! I have had some success in my training recently. In 2009 I was 105kg at the heaviest (while I'm 181cm tall). Today I'm 85kg. My goal is 77kg. At the moment I'm questioning whether to keep on going with negative calories or try to gain some lost muscle for a change. Keep on fighting!
