(Ah didn't see your other comment until just now) And no it's actually easier IMO. The students learn to use each other as resources for learning; not just the teachers. As they get older, they assume roles of responsibility in the classroom and because all the work and learning is individualized, they learn at their own pace the things they are ready for, instead of trying to make a single lesson work for everyone.

Yes the first years are always crazy! Once you get your own classroom, the biggest thing I can say is routines, routines, routines. If you can get the kids to be independent (more or less) and work as a community, your life becomes so much simpler and you can do the things you're there to do, instead of managing little details.
If you have never learned anything of Montessori Educational Philosophy, it's worth looking at. I wish I'd known some of it when I was teach...
