  1. Hi all, the second Spartan Race event in Germany has been announced, it will be in Cologne, right in my neck of the woods. http://de-de.spartanrace.com/spartan-sprint-koln-20140628 So i´ll run ,probably volunteer as well. I think having a team NF starting there would be cool. Anybody willing to join? Kilian
  2. Braved my sore muscles from the Christmas party and went for a run last night. Office people can get really competitive in sports. Who'd have thunk it... I managed to run for 10 minutes straight. Then three times seven minutes. I'm slowly getting better at this whole running thing. Flip side is, now my legs are pretty sore and tonight it's time to do YAYOG. At least it's not a leg workout today. Gesendet von meinem GT-I9300 mit Tapatalk
  3. No martial arts training tonight. Chrsistmas party at work. Buuut we will be playing human table soccer.
  4. Back on track this week. Well, for the most part anyways. Training is completely on track again, i even went for a run in the sleet on early Friday morning. Good time to try out my new headlamp. Food wise, the week went pretty good, except for two slips at the Churro booth at the local christmas market. Oh, churros, evil little sticks of starch, fat and sugar!
  5. Long time snce the last update... Back @work again, ate clean for the week so far (yay me). Training wise, i got back to YAYOG on Monday. that went OK. Went for a run yesterday. that was OK, but not great, skipped the last free form run because i was just too tuckered out. today is YAYOG time again.
  6. Getting better. I at least managed to cleanup my eating again. No more sugary/starchy comfort food! Working out is still not i the cards today, hopefully next week i´ll be fit enough to get back on track.
  7. Update for this week: Been sick as a dog since sunday. So no exercise, not too much focus on good eating, stomach was acting up so i did not actually eat much at all the last few days... Feeling a wee bit better today, even maged to go outside for a stroll around the block.
  8. Using a spreadsheet sounds good as well. May try that in the future. Update: went running last night and kept the food clean! Yay me! Today, my shoulder is still hurting like a mother. Taking painkillers and using a hot water bottle helps a bit, but working at the computer today still sucks badly. I just hope this gets better after my workout tonight.
  9. Thank you! Absolutely. It also feels good to be able to color in the fields. My wife wanted Pizza for her birthday dinner, i (barely) restisted that and went for a salad instead. *pats back* No sport yesterday as my schoulder was killing me. Better today, i will be able to go for my scheduled run.
  10. Thanks! Yes, from last weeks experience i can tell that these goals are possible to achieve! Training wise, i met all my goals! Food wise, i had one mild slip (burger from fast food joint sans bun) and one serious one: complete baggy of chocolate covered raisins and cornflakes. the good thing about this slip up: i was sooo not satisfied. And felt bloated and hung over the next morning. So i´m pretty sure this will not happen again. I did manage to keep away from the cake for my wives birthday at least. Next hurdle will be the party for my wives birthday on the weekend. What i did for motivation was get a visual aid to track my record. i set up a calendar with colums for breakfast, lunch, dinner and the physical activity planned for the day. If i stuck to the plan, i get to color in that field in the calendar with green marker. This way i can see at one glance if i was "good" on a given day I positively HATE those blank fields now.
  11. So i tried to take part in the last challenge. Andit worked for the first two weeks, then i got ill and let the whole thing slip and never got back into it. Also, i completely forgot to factor my martial arts training two times week into my goals. That "helped" me into the "Oh i can skip this workout" mindset. Sooo, now i´ll give it another go, my wife will join me in eating better and training, so that should be an additional motivation to keep it up. i reduced the workouts from 3 to 2 times a week to account for the MA training. Goal: Finish a mud race (i.e. Spartan Sprint, Tough Mudder) in 2014 First steps: Do the Zombies, Run 5K Trainer workout 2 times a week A = 12 Workouts B = 10 C = 8 D = 6 F = 5 or Less Do the YAYOG Basic 10W workout 2 times a week A = 12 Workouts B = 10 C = 8 D = 6 F = 5 or Less Clean up my food intake: Try to eat paleo 80% of the time. A = 0-20 "slips" B = 21-23 C = 24-25 D = 26-29 F = 30 or more
  12. OK, long time no update. Running is on track, week three of the 5k trainer started today. We actually managed to get our daughter off the couch long enough to join us for the run. Next week will feature 3 days in London for work, handluggage only, so no running shoes, i guess. YAYOG Training is at day 8 of the basic program, pretty good as well. Foodwise, i can not report any major slip ups. Yay me. My energy is soo much better since i started to work out regularely. My wife is feeling better as well, less shoulder/backpain. The only fail i can report is the goshdarned shelves. I swear, they hate me. I started to put up the first one and noticed that i got the measurements wrong. After drilling 10 holes, putting in the anchors and securing the shelve-holding-thingy with 10 screws. Sooo, out with the screws, out with the anchors, spackle the holes and measure correctly. Close to the wall so there is no gap. Drilled 10 holes again. Put in the anchors and secured the shelve-holding-thingy with 10 screws. Tried to slip on the shelve body and it went on. Except for the last inch or so. Turns out, the wall is not quite at right angles with the other. Soooo, out with the screws, out with the anchors. I then realized i was out of anchors So we now have a nice row with spackled in holes. Oh well, next weekend...
  13. What´s the difference between a piano and a guitar? The piano burns a lot longer...
  14. Two really cringeworthy ones: How do you make a cat bark? Douse with gasoline and hold a matchstick to it. *WOOF* How do you make a dog meow? freeze it and run it over a circular saw. *Meow*
  15. Election support kept me from working out on súnday. Darn. so week 2 of the 5k trainer will start tonight!
