  1. If you could see me as I read this post, little hearts would probably be popping out of me. The Court of Owls was an awesome story line and they are great villains. A legion of villains that knows Gotham better than Batman is a brilliant concept. After I read the first volume with the crazy maze section and Batman on the ropes, I could have kissed Scott Snyder. Really great. I've never read Batman issue to issue, but I'm trying to now. Also, that costume will be AWESOME!
  2. Great goals! I will be following you because you are part of the Bat family and we must look out for each other... and Gotham. I love French Fries too. Unfortunately, they are one of the worst foods for you aside from frying a candy bar (also delicious). Have you been to SDCC before? I've been wanting to go for a while. I'm just on the other side of the country and flights are so freakin' expensive, but one day hopefully. I would have the same goal too. Walking around in some sweet, sweet Bat gear looking all heroic:)
  3. I love coming home from a long day at work with the nerdishly-challenged and read things like that. **goes to retrieve Orcish Battleaxe**
  4. I believe that Brussels and Brugge were two of my favorite places that I traveled to when I studied abroad. It was not rainy when I was there, so that helped. Also the fact that you can be Paleo with all that great beer around astonishes me. That is true strength. Love your goals and I'll look forward to seeing your progress in the weeks to come. Best of luck:)
  5. Well you just have good taste. Got home and completed my first day of BBWW. One small step for Batwoman... Yay. I will be as entertaining as possible and you can count on endless amounts of Batman talk, pics, and gifs. +10 AWESOME. This made my day.
  6. That's really cool. I work as a graphic artist. I tend to be a creative type but I'm looking to learn more programming languages for website design mainly. Programming satisfies a part of my brain that the artsy stuff does not. I know lynda.com is a great place for tutorials on all sorts of programming geared towards all kind of creative endeavors. There are monthly fees but you can quit at any time and they will refund your money for the month.
  7. You are a busy lady. Getting to the gym at 3AM would make me cry. May you hit your goals like those enraged winged creatures hit those emerald swine.
  8. Thanks:) I did watch Batman Begins this weekend with this challenge in mind. I find the more I can make a project out of something the more I will stick to it. What kind of cider do you drink? I would imagine that some of them might be pretty high in sugar.
  9. Captain Fluffy Pants might be the best username of all-time. Good luck on earning your cape!
  10. Awesome goals! I like your motivation too. Excuses can be too easy sometimes. What kind of programming do you do/want to do?
  11. Yes only use Energizer if you wish to attract pink bunnies... that really doesn't seem so bad.
  12. People can be cruel, but screw em'. Be healthy because you want to live a long and happy life being awesome:) It seems as though we have similar goals for this first challenge. I'll look forward to your updates to see if we are both getting along well with our new healthy lifestyles. SLAY THOSE MONSTERS!
  13. Just tape a bat to the end of a flashlight and turn it on; I will come running. ... and I hate running.
  14. I cannot turn down a good gif. I'm going to try to keep posts Batman themed, because he makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Thanks:) This is the beginning of my heroic journey! Thanks. I've been almost Paleo for a while. I'd cut out carbs during the week for the most part. I can't pretend that I don't love beer, especially fall beer (mmmm pumpkin). That is why I am allowing myself a cheat day, so I can treat myself for a job well done without completely falling off the wagon. YES. I'm going to keep this as BAT themed as possible. That's awesome. I'm imagined a bunch of gray haired British men standing behind me. hahahaha I will definitely ask you if I have any motorcycle questions. I start my first class on Wednesday. I want to eventually get a Ninja. It seems like an efficient and sleek way to get through Gotham City.
  15. I had the same experience earlier this year too. I just didn't eat carbs on weekdays and lost 20 lbs in like 3 months without lifting a finger. It is crazy! So I'm stepping it up now by being Paleo (no legumes and no dairy). Any day that you can play video games is a good day.
  16. Please post pics of you in your Sith Lord costume after the challenge is over:) Looking forward to your weekly progress.
  17. Your book sounds very cool. I wish you the best of luck on it. I too find that when I have my body/health right then I have more energy and focus for my creative endeavors. #girlpower
  18. This is awesome! Congrats on the success that you've already had in the past year. Your goals are great and your motivation is awesome. I wish you the best of luck. Also, your icon makes me want to go home and play Skyrim. Instead I will work on my own goals so that I can slay real life dragons (they are out there).
  19. Ditto. Cat Cora is the bomb. She can make me cornbread anytime.
  20. I just started ice hockey, so I don't have super specific goals when it comes to interval training. I was trying to work on my speed from a stand-still/stop into full speed. That is the one problem with inline is that you can't imitate the blade cutting into/shaving the ice. So when I would start from ready-position looking straight forward I'd have my skates pointed in a v-shape to gain traction like I would on the ice and it just doesn't work as well on inline. Anyway, I'm starting a new strength program and I just need/want some sort of interval training for my rest days, so I think I will try Tabata. Sounds like what I am looking for. Also, if you happen to know any good skating land drills for hockey players, I would appreciate any knowledge.
  21. Main Quest: Get recruited by the League of Shadows. Get into Bruce Wayne shape. Your training is nothing. The will is everything. If you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal, you become something else entirely. Are you ready to begin? We all have to start somewhere. Bruce Wayne was in pretty good shape when he was recruited by Ras Al Ghul, a heck of a lot better shape than I am in right now. This goal may take more than six weeks, but that is fine. This is where I want to be at the end of volume 1 on my road to becoming the super hero version of me. Here are my stats at the start: Height: 5’9” Weight: 195 lbs. Neck: 14.5” Shoulders: 18” Chest: 38” Bicep: 14.5” Waist: 39” Hips: 45” Goal: Be able to get through the Beginner’s Body Weight Workout with real push-ups. Do workout 3 times per week. One of the most impressive things in Batman Begins is when Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) goes from standing straight-up and falls to the floor and starts doing push-ups. I am nowhere close to doing that, but starting with 30 actual push-ups a day would be a start. Right now when I do body-weight work outs I stick to “girly” push-ups (I hate using girly because it insinuates that girls are weak, but I can’t think of another way to say it). At the end of this challenge I want to be able to get through Nerd Fitness’ Beginner’s Body Weight Workout doing regular push-ups (with good form). Hopefully I will exceed this expectation, but as my first challenge I wanted to set the bar at a moderate level. A = BBWW 3 days per week; 3 sets of 10 push ups by the end of the challenge. B = BBWW 3 days per week; less than 3 sets of 10 push ups by end of challenge. C = missing 1 BBWW D = missing 3 BBWW F = missing more than 3 BBWW Goal: Stick to 80% Paleo Diet I’m going to commit to a full on Paleo diet with one day allowed for cheating. This shouldn’t be too much of a change from what I had been eating before. I just have to weed out the beans from my diet. The most difficult thing will be the no alcohol during the week, but if Batman can do it. I can do it. A = 80% Paleo/ 6 days a week with 1 cheat day. B = 70% Paleo/ 5 days a week with 2 cheat days. C = 60% Paleo/ 4 days a week with 3 cheat days. D = 50% Paleo F = <50% Paleo Goal: Obtain Motorcycle License In the Nolan trilogy Batman doesn’t use his motorcycle until Dark Knight Rises, but I’m allowing myself to think ahead a little. I’ve already got my permit this summer and now I am going to be taking a safety course where I can get my license at the end. I’m putting it up here so I stick to going to all the classes and not backing out. It’s not that I’m afraid of motorcycles. I’m excited to ride a bike, but there is always this fear of the unknown and it’s something I’ve never done before. Then there is also the possibility of failure and not being good. That should not stop me from pursuing my dream of looking badass on a motorcycle. All my gear is acquired I just need to go through with the class and pass the test! Pass/Fail (pretty self explanatory) MOTIVATION: Be Awesome! WWBD (what would Batman do?) I know this seems a little less than thought out, but I don't have any tangible motivation. I just want to feel good, look good, and be the best that I can be. Having a healthy lifestyle (being awesome) is going to help me achieve all the things that I want out of life. The energy and stamina that I gain from exercises will help me reach all those nerdier/lifestyle goals that I've been thinking about for so long.
  22. I'd like to incorporate rollerblading into my workout routine. I started playing ice hockey this year so I do the ice skating. Although I am not the best I'm still pretty good for a beginner. I'd think it would be great to do interval training on skates. Running sucks for my knees.
  23. I'd like to see Nightwing battle Spiderman. Both are extremely acrobatic, but I digress. AND my point stands!
  24. I would not be deterred by dark skies and thunder today. I took Zelda for another 15-minute walk. Fourth day in a row and my calendar has a nice x train starting. Took some measurements tonight. Neck: 14.5" Shoulders: 18" (across) Chest: 38" Bicep: 14.5" Waist: 39" Hips: 45" I think that I am going to skip the body fat measurements and use these measurements along with weight and pictures to see how I am progressing. Going to kick it into a higher gear for next weeks challenge.
