  1. It set my goal to 2000 calories. But as I said, my mind said "less calories=more loss" I'm 6'2" and 21 y/o
  2. Hi, I started p90x 2.5 weeks ago. In that time, even though I told myself to stay away from the scale, my body weight has fluctuated rapidly but hasn't gone anywhere really. I started at 250lbs. I was thinking, is it because I am not eating enough? This concept seems extremely backwards to me and I'm finding it hard to wrap my head around it. In my mind its eat less+workout=weight loss. Am I going about this all wrong? Is it possible I am putting my body into starvation mode? Here is my my fitness profile: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/reaper234 I generally eat about 1200-1400 calories a day. Is this too little?
  3. Yes that was a batman reference. But my real question is does it work, and should I take it. The stuff that I have is made in America so it's not some Chinese copy. Harvey Dent...... Can we trust him?
  4. GTA V just came out and is waiting at home for me. This is going to make working out even harder to do. But I WILL do it
  5. What a wild weekend. This year the battle plan was a little different. Last year the entire day was one huge tactical, with us staging an HQ and sending out patrols from there. This year they allowed the public to come and watch, which meant there needed to be demonstrations and scripted battles. On Saturday morning there was a large tactical. The British side was made up of the 43rd, the 71st, the 84th, and the 42nd regiments of foot along with the 1st NJV and a few german Jaegers. The rebels were made up with a jumble of different regiments. With our forces nearly even we were sent to capture and hold a small house on the other side of a small bridge. The 43rd broke into two platoons and pushed up the bridge. One of the coolest moments of that day was seen the rebels' faces when the platoon of the 43rd split in half and revealed our gun ready and waiting. The tactical was designed to last from 10am until 1:30 pm, but due to the speed and tactics of the crown forces, the rebels were out maneuvered and enveloped within the first hour and a half. Steamrolled would be the correct term for the action that transpired there. The rest of the day was made up with standard demonstrations and staged battles. The next day was much of the same, but we did have a small morning tactical in which I got to use a very fun piece of equipment that I have never used before. It's called a wall gun. It's a six foot long 40-45lb musket with a 1 inch bore. That's right, a 1.00 caliber weapon. I ran around in the woods with it and used another man's shoulder as rest when firing it. Its a gun you usually see very rarely, and when you do it's usually in a demonstration and not in battle. Boy, was that a workout. Actually the whole weekend was a workout. Moving around all the time, sweating all day. Hauling that cannon for miles. My shoulders, arms and legs are all sore. And I think I ate pretty well, our dinned was a tin kettle in which we threw barley, peas, boiled beef and potatoes and water in. Boiled the snot out of it while adding a little bit of port as we went. I had a bit of bread. Saturday night I did get a wee drunk. Mostly drank ale, with port and some whiskey. Stayed away from the sugar. I don't know how I could have done better. Now it's back to the routine. I fell I have lost some weight, not a lot, but I feel different. This would be the hardest point for me, to make sure I continue with the program and not get distracted. I'm sure I won't have any problem now I a keeping myself accountable. 6. You started where I'm starting now. I can only hope I can achieve the same in the same amount of time. Huzzah to you, sir
  7. Day 4/90 Finally my chest and back stopped hurting, although my legs seem like at the peak of their soreness. I know they will be better tomorrow. Finished today's workout, I'm really happy I have a stable time to have these exercises. Previously I would try to work out first thing in the morning, and that would require me to get up at a decent hour before work. Now I have a specific time worked out for it. I work as a pizza driver for a small restaurant chain, working around the french fries and pizza and burgers is tough. Luckily the job keeps me active and out of the shop most of the time, and we do have healthy options. Im a fan of the turkey avocado wrap. I'll work it out. 8. Oh god everything hurts. And it hurts to do everything. But this is good, change is not painless. Certainly this change. So a bowl of oatmeal is probably the most bland thing in the bland universe. I need to figure out something to put in it to make it not the blandest bland of the blands. P90x has this day set up for Yoga but I'm going to be switching it for cardio x. I never liked yoga that much and my body is too sore to hold a difficult position for too long. Anyway more cardio = better right? Rome II seems to help with that as well. I remain, Sirs, Your servant, D His Majesty's Royal Regiment of Artillery, C Company
  9. As I said, I would post my Myfitnesspal profile for added motivation. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/reaper234 I have taped up a p90x calendar in an open area and marked the days I have done with sharpie. It is my progress bar. My level up. I'm starting to see the benefit of having large amounts of gum lying around. Chewing on something for a long period of time seems to keep the cravings away. And hey, its like nothing on the calorie scale. Rome II seems to help with that as well. I remain, Sirs, Your servant, D His Majesty's Royal Regiment of Artillery, C Company
  10. It's too damn hot. I wish the cold chill of fall was here. I have effectively reduced all of my liquid intake to water and water alone. It's not so drastic, I used to drink soda, diet snapple, and water. So it was not difficult to cut the two out. I have also begun to use all of the features of the Myfitnesspal app. It is a great tool with logging work and food in a intuitive user interface. I will post the link to my profile when I return home. My body is extremely sore. The first few workouts are always the most painful, but it is a good pain. It reminds me of the progress I am making, today is day three of p90x. Shoulders and arms and then an ending ab workout. While these programs seem to be about weightlifting, I still end up with a fast heartbeat and a flop sweat, so I must be doing something. I think I should stay away from the scale, in the past I would check weekly and sometimes everyday and this would lead me to lack of enthusiasm. I need all the enthusiasm I can get. I have work to keep my mind off food when the cravings come. While also being a gunner in the hobby, I am also tasked with being the company tailor. I have to make up some test patterns for this weekend and its helping me cope when I see my brother or my parents eating ice cream or other deserts. I am extremely excited for this battle, it's a rare opportunity for the gun crew to really show how fast we can move the gun and keep up with the rest of the army. This weekend will be one hell of a workout. It is far too soon to tell if this log is helping, but I like it already. 11. I use myfitnesspal. It tracks your weight, food, and exercise. I seem to like it
  12. So I have begun my dive into the p90x program. Yesterday was day One. The hardest is the start day. Today is day two, plyometrics. Shaking off my rust. At the end of this week sits a battle. A mass tactical closed off to the public, in Mt Harmon Maryland. Although I won't be able to complete Saturday's prescribed workout, the day of me running around in wool hauling a 750 lb cannon will be workout enough. I will be eating lean as well. We progressives like to eat what they ate 240 years ago, boiled beef and simple veggies. I am looking toward the action and it excites me. My biggest problem is accountability. So I am starting this log to ensure my continual obedience to the plan. I am tired of my body. It's time for a change. It's time for me to rise. Be the best damn gunner they have ever seen. 13. So I have recently started my 6 day a week workout plan (yesterday) and I was wondering what time of the day is best when it comes to results. Currently I have been completing my workouts in between my lunch and dinner, start times are in between 2:30 and 4:30. Is there a better time? Or is the mere fact that I am working out good enough?
  14. Hey y'all, I was wondering what the nutrition values of coffee were? I maybe drink two sixteen ounce cups a week for my early morning classes and just recently change my diet by getting rid of the soda and diet drinks and terrible food. Now I'm drinking water like its my job, but my coffee has remained. Looking online has revealed that black coffee has a caloric content of about 2. But it is okay to drink. I only take mine black anyway. Thanks
  15. I don't want to be fat I haven't wanted to be fat for three years. Ever since a broke out of my shell like a mountain man riding a flaming tiger whilst shooting a minigun I have hated my body. Only until half-way through my senior year, I was an introverted person, gaining more and more weight over the years. I didn't care at the time because I was content with being by myself, playing my games and watching my shows. Then, although I can't really place it, I became extremely extroverted. I changed my hair, changed how I interacted in class and with people, but never really changed my fitness or my eating habits. Earlier this year I had gotten my weight from 260 lbs to 228 lbs in a matter of 5 months by working out on and off. Never really committing but making progress. Then I just stopped for a while, and lost so much ground. Now I sit at 6' 2" at 248 lbs, and watching all my friends lose weight like it was going out of style and I want to do that too. I want to do that for me, for both myself and for my health. I also want to do it for my hobby. I am a reenactor. An American War for Independence reenactor. I portray a Gunner in HM Royal Regiment of Artillery. Being fit would help me in my hobby in more ways than one. In the 18th century, everything was tailored to a personal level. There were no sewing machines and the fashion was form fitting clothes (seriously, if you see anything from the 18th century that is really baggy. Its wrong.) Form fitting, while good looking for any man, looks better when you are of fit size. I don't want to be the double-chin reenactor dork anymore, my closest friends in the hobby are all in better shape than me. I don't want to be the largest of the group. I want to put my nose to the grind stone and make a difference. I want to feel good and look good. And personally, I want to look damn good. Not to mention it would make lugging a 750 lb cannon around easier. Looking at the 15 mistakes book, I now know what I did wrong and that there is a community here to help me. I am an Overeager Beaver, a Vague Nebulator, an Accountability Slacker, a Scale watcher, a No-Fun-Haver, an Anti-Bulk Toner, and an Insanity Definer. But now I know, and knowing is half the battle. The other half? Red and blue lasers. So here I go, Going down the only road I've ever known. I have already started. My first workout was today. The first day is never hard for me, but the 8th and the 15th. The day coming back after the built-in day off. But now I'm going to be different, and drink water like it's my job. btw: any other reenactors out there? Also, If you know what movie the Topic title is referencing I will telepathically send you a mental cookie.
