  1. I'm still here! I did meet with the targeted selection person and loved the conference in Orlando. So career wise I met my goals. Exercise was hard with the conference and I caught a flu bug that made my brains swim. Getting back on tract there now that the flu has started to ease up. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks Devlin Better week this week. I've been mixing up my workouts and seem to be back on track (last week my alcohol goal was out the window but I'm focused now). I actually started doing more upper body stuff to help with the push ups. Even added scary things like assisted pull ups and dips just because I refuse to fear any machines....but I'll admit that was pretty cool to overcome. I even started trying out the band resistance machines rather than the static pin traditional machines (these are my made up creative names for things btw, if any are actually correct it is so a coincidence). Progress: Goal 1: I rock this on an elliptical, I can go 5k in 30 minutes on those bad boys (if I'm to trust the display). Doing better on a treadmill, I think I'm going to try and run at a park or on the beach if I can this week and use Map my Run to see where I'm really at. Goal 2: I'm at 2, and counting. Goal 3: I log at least on Evernote if not here, other than that week it all went nuts, so not too shabby. Goal 4: drinking, why beer so good? Must remember Buffy teachings "beer bad" or at least beer bad every day. Goal 5: actually really good stuff here, I was selected to be on a leadership committee for the district. I still haven't heard about targeted selection so I will send an email this week to find out the status of that. And this week I'm volunteering at a technology conference in Orlando, where I can hopefully meet people doing the awesome things I'd like to do. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Week 2 This week I was awful at logging my workouts. There have been a variety of catastrophes at work and I let that effect, well everything. But I did workout, especially at the beginning of the week....less on Thursday through Saturday though. Getting back on track as of Sunday both physically and emotionally after everything that's been going on (3 coworkers lost either husbands or parents this week). I'm up to 2 decent push-ups and even tried that pull up contraption at the gym, I didn't do to well on it but even hanging there is a start right? Lol. Haven't timed my 5k this week but I did my workouts so hopefully that is moving in the right directions as well. Good luck everyone, and hug your loved ones because that is the biggest lesson I learned this week, they can be gone in a flash. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Week 1 I guess Monday would technically be the end of week 1 but I'm going to get this in now while I have time. This week was rough! Going back to work really wore on my nerves and body as a whole. I had to take a day easy and one day off completely this week. Not to mention every night I was in bed by like 8 or 9 at the latest. Still I think it was overall a success at the very least in that I'm not ready to give up. I was looking at the last challenge I attempted about a year ago, the one I did not complete. I had similar goals but for the most part the majority have been accomplished in the past year. That made me happy. Onward to week two! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Jan 10, 2015 Elip - 30min/lvl4/3.33 miles (was reading my book so it apparently distracted me into zooming along) Chest press - 60/65/70/75/75/80/80 x5 Seated row - 60/65/65/70/70 Squat - 30lbsx5 sets5 Leg press - 110/110/110/110/130x5 Felt much better today, had to take a break yesterday. Lots of students with the flu and I'm pretty sure my body is fighting those germs off. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Jan 6, 2014 Had a really rough day. Maybe it was just the craziness of a day back and a new schedule to handle at work but it kicked my ass. I managed to stay on an elliptical for 20 minutes before getting completely dizzy and had to stop. Jan 7, 2015 Much better today, Elliptical - 30min/lvl4/3.08 miles Overhead press - 40/40/30/30/30 x5 (really sore shoulders today) Chest press - 55/60/65/70/70/75 x5 25 sit ups with 8lbs ball 1 really good push up and 2 crappy but improving ones. 7. Finished my workout for today,. Due to time constraints I just worked out in our garage with our appreciated but subpar gear (except the row machine that thing is awesome). I'm thinking I'll just do a weekly progress report on this thread. Today is my last day of winter vacation and then it's back to educating our youth, be afraid. Also taking my kids to the Orlando Science Center, should be fun I love nerdy science stuff. thank you all for your comments and support, let's rock this thing! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Jan 4, 2015 (Totally forgot to do this yesterday) Elip - 30 mins/lvl 4/3.1miles Chest press - 50/55/60/65/70/75 all x5 Kept it short because I go back to work tomorrow and of course procrastinated doing my lesson plans and yes they are still not completely done yet as of posting this. Jan 5, 2015 Row machine - 20 min/2658m (I have no idea if this is good/bad/indifferent lol) Bench press - 50lbs x5 (it maxes out at 50 not sure what to do other than increase reps) Punching bag - 10 min Worked out at home today, these are the items we have in our garage, and a very broken elliptical that I never use but is used by others in the house. Taking my kids to the orlando science center today as our last winter break activity, should be fun. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Jan 3, 2015 Treadmill day! - 45 min I'm not sure how far I went or any stats for that matter. About 30 minutes into my workout the treadmill just shut off. It was quite a shock especially since I was in the middle of a run! Luckily I didn't face plant and got going again. The only issue was that it wiped out my stats and I hadn't really been paying attention enough to remember them beyond the time. Probably will be an edit later to add push ups. 10. Heck yes Jess! Let's do this! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Using the lat as a start is a good idea, I never thought about it like that but I do usually hit the lat pull down in the gym during a circuit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Heck yea the more the merrier! I've always wanted to be better at push ups because they just look bad ass and I'm aware of my limited pull up skills so it seems like the best alternative. It took forever for me to even do one properly, the hours I've spent doing wall push ups is ridiculous (shout out to angry birds workout though). Thanks guys!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Jan 2, 2015 elip- 30m/lvl4 chest press - (50/55/60/65/70)x5pull down - (70/75/80/85/90/95)x5row - (60/65/70/75/80/85)x5orhead press - (40/40/45/45/50)x5arm extend - (50/50/50/55/55)x5 The gym (planet fitness) was quite busy today, no surprise.
  14. The quest: N7 Training Havock style This is my first challenge as a Ranger, and I'm really looking forward to it. I have participated in several challenges in the past, and although I finish I always forget to keep logging my progress after a while. Or just get self-consious about the progress I'm making, which is just ridiculous and no way for a N7 Marine to act. I got my bantha poodoo together last year but have been lacking in the logging/keeping track of progress department. This challenge is my way of working on that. Oh and obviously I love Mass Effect... Fitness Goals: 1. 5k in under 40 minutes, because Specters need to run. Plan: Going to alternate my gym days so that every other day I'm working on running either on the treadmill or track. Currently: I went from running a 5k in 48 minutes to 40 minutes this past year. But I really want to get it under that in the next 6 weeks. 2. 5 Proper Push Ups. Plan: I want to start practicing my push ups every (or every other) morning. Currently: I can do one, and that took a while to acomplish, but I know I can do better. Life Quests: 3. Log progress daily - because I've always struggled with this and want to work on it so I know if I'm making progress on my goals or not. 4. No Drinking - This is a personal one, just to try and lose some weight while I'm at it. 5. Get everything I need to done to go to my Targeted Selection interview for school administration. I finished my masters degree and passed all my tests, time to start moving forward on this one too.
  15. 2014 was up and down, but overall I think it went pretty well. In the end I lost 50 lbs and went down 4 clothes sizes. Now its 2015 and I'm ready to try and maintain these logs a bit better. Where did I go? I was in my final internship/classes in grad school from about March to August and it dominated my computer time. I was able to go to the gym consistently and I have new goals for my career and fitness. Re-reading these entries I remember the benefit to keeping a log was that I kept challenging myself. Sadly I don't think I've increased my weights much in the past 9 months, so that's something to use this thread and work on. Sorry I disappeared, I think I got a bit self consious after megacon, which is just another thing I need to work on improving in myself. Sometimes I let silly little things get to me and that's not healthy. Todays Log: 20 mins Seated Row Level 4 5/5 benchpress @ 50lbs 5/5 bicep curl @ 10lbs (I was lifting 25 for some reason today it was not happening) Changed how I have been eating and could feel that which cut into my time. Also was planning on going for about a 30 minute walk but the weather was not cooperating.
  16. Lost 50 lbs in 2014, time to kick 2015's ass.

      Great job & good luck!

  17. I get most of my clothes from thrift stores, and the rest from Walmart. we go to cons like once every five years, definitely not rich just save money for occasions. Went to yoga tonight, loved it as usual.
  18. Haha it was not easy! This weekend was MegaCon in Orlando. I had limited choices in what to eat, and the amount of traffic I sat in (3 HOURS on Saturday) was enough to make a person drink...a lot. I worked out all week except Friday and Saturday but I did have to walk nearly a mile to get from where I had to park to the convention center so that should count lol. Today I had to catch up on all my grad school work so tomorrow we are getting back on track! As for the food, Friday I had a Gyro (so not worth it) and Red Lobster on Saturday (Surf and Turf, and one of their biscuits...I'm so Sorry St. Paleo I was weak and they are fraking delicious!). I ate little beyond that, which also isn't the best thing but I had little options and they were all wicked pricey. The great news is I got amazing swag, I'm wearing my NukaCola shirt right now (Fallout 3, if you haven't play it, PLAY IT NOW). I also got a Portal shirt, a Targaryan shirt, a Handy Habbersack (backpack), a Doctor Who Tardis beanie and a wicked military style green jacket. Oh and I picked up a N7 patch for my army camo jacket. It was nice to buy things without having to worry if they would fit, can't wait for everything to be so baggy I just have to go to another con for more swag
  19. My "reward" for being teacher of the month was a pizza, cake and ice cream lunch. [insert face palm here]. I ate before the lunch so I would only want (and only had) one slice of very good pizza and a small piece of cake (and ice cream...). Did 25 mins on the elliptical and some shoulder and back workouts. Going out of town Friday and Saturday (Yoga day nooooooooo) so I'm going to try and go daily to the gym so that those are the only two days I miss (especially since food is kinda wobbly this week due to all of these "rewards" )
  20. I braved Planet Fitness today just for a change of pace (I say "braved" because I'm allergic to their spray sanitizer and I'm not supposed to go there due to that, but dammit I love the set up they have). I was okay as long as I did not use the sanitizer and was very careful not to touch my face. I had to wash my hands and face afterward, but no lasting damage. I really like their free weights, and there is less chance of coming into contact with the sanitizer using those than the weight machines. So I was thinking of going there once or twice a week and doing free weights, of course I need to find a routine that doesn't make me look like a tool, but that's not too hard to manage.
  21. YOGA!! And we celebrated St. Paddy's day....yea St. Paddy did not get along with St. Paleo at all....but YOGA! >.>
  22. @Guzzi Thank you! I need all the positive thoughts I can get, especially some days! Today I was planning on hitting the gym but massive allergy attack just as work ended made it clear I needed to hold off. Got an award at work today too so I may be doing a bit of celebrating >.> Yea I can tell the alcohol thing is going to be the hardest part of this challenge for sure. On a very cool note, I made Cauliflower "rice" for the first time tonight and it was really fricken good! I turned down cake (TWICE today, two different occasions, talk about testing me geeze lol), biscuits, pretzels, and chips today and instead had a small sausage patty for breakfast, chicken and asparagus for lunch, and Tilapia and cauliflower rice for dinner. A few carrots, apples, and mandarin oranges in there for snacks. Definitely eating better, and my size 18s were super loose so getting close to that next size down. Over all, I'm feeling pretty good about life right now. Handling my stress at work has so drastically improved I want to grab everyone and drag them to a gym and steal all of their grain products so they can feel like this haha. Oh and for getting my award I get to eat lunch with the principal (my boss) next week...and its pizza...*le sigh* I'll be on the elliptical a long time that afternoon I can sense it.
  23. Gym today: 20 minutes on the treadmill and some ab work on the mat, noting too exciting had to rush off to make it to the bank but glad I got a little workout in. Longer workout tomorrow
  24. Week 2 Main Goal: Level up in life and get fit, continue to lose inches and fit into a size 16 (in the brand I currently typically buy which is the fabulous styles of WalMart). Pants are definitely getting looser. Mission: 1) Run/walk/elliptical 3.2 miles in 40 minutes I'm not sure of my progress here. I meant to go back to the park and do another 3.2 mile trip but Sunday I just wasn't feeling up to it. 2) Drink alcohol only 1x per week (either Friday or Saturday) C - three drinks this week. It occurs to me now that this goal needed to be more specific. When I say "drinks" I typically mean a bottle of beer, which I had three total, one per night. My intention was to limit any drinking to one night, I'm thinking I like the drinking no more than a bottle (12 oz) per night a few nights a week isn't bad. Overall this is one I need to really think about this week and make a decision (or stop letting the stress get to me and wanting it more than just one night *sigh*) 3) No Grains or Processed Food I ate one potato chip, yes just one. It was Cheezy Garlic Bread Lays and I was curious. It made me sick, and I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth no matter how much water I downed. Massive regrets, won't be repeating that mistake soon. 4) Do Yoga at least once a week A - Did it, done it, love it. Life Quests: Work out With Friends Still working on it. Grad School 2 classes sucks, hard to stay organized but so far so good. This week had its ups and downs, but overall stayed on track.
  25. Went to the gym yesterday and did 10 minute warmup on the elliptical then all upper body machines. Eating has been pretty good, I had one tortilla about chip sized today. Was making tacos for the fam and one broke, I ate the broken part without even thinking, *sigh*. Feeling blah today probably because it was a rest day and I need these but miss the gym when I don't go. Tomorrow its back to the gym though
