  1. Exactly! I need to start building up my endurance and stamina. He doesn't want a slow, wimpy middle aged woman as a companion! I just downloaded the zombie 5k app. Now I just need to figure out how to get music on my cell phone. Fortunately, I have two teenage sons, who swear they know everything, they will help me.
  2. I think I posted this under the wrong heading. Perhaps an admin can move me to the right challenge date?? Thank you.
  3. By the way, in the Rookie Level 1 workout can I use the warm up as my cardio?? I nearly keeled over just warming up the first time I tried it.
  4. In the wise words of the 10th Doctor, "Allons-y!" Followed by the equally wise words of the 11th Doctor, "Geronimo!". I'm diving in with both feet. My ultimate goal is to be the fittest person to ever win the lotto. I figure the first thing I need to do is quit pussy-footin' around on our Bowflex and get serious with some free weights. Second I should start playing the lotto. To be serious, I am 41 years old and while not overweight, I jiggle quit a bit. Friends I went to school with are now on a variety of meds and are complaining daily about the horrors of old age. I don't feel like an old lady so I decided to do something about it. Main Goal: To be a size 5 currently a not too bad size 10 To be able to backpack through the back country, carrying everything I need on my person. To be able to carry my 220lb husband if I had too. To be prepared to run off as the Doctor's companion at any time the TARDIS may land in my backyard. It could happen. If you believe. Side Goals will be set to get me on my way. The first I will commit 6 days to working out with at least 4 of them to include free weights. The second I hope to go from my 0 push ups to at least 5. My upper body strength is truly something to despair over. The third to gradually increase my running from 0% percent of my daily mile walk to 25% of my daily walk I guess I don't really have a life goal except to be a happy and content person. I want to live to be a ripe old age, one of those old people who are still out living their lives when everyone else their age are all curled up in their nursing home (Maybe they will knit me a cool 4th Doctor scarf.). Here's what I have to work with: Bowflex-an old one we picked up for 75$ used for my teenage son a few years ago. Beginner's free weights- again bought for my teenager. Unfortunately it only goes up to 120lbs and I am expecting to breeze through that fairly quickly Medicine ball-8lbs Balance ball-came with a video I have yet to check out Wii fit Yoga DVD I'm super excited to get started. Allons-y!
  5. Hi all! I'm a 41 year old hopeful companion to the Doctor. Unfortunately, if the TARDIS landed in my backyard today, I wouldn't be much help to him when he is saving the world from the Daleks and Cyberman. Oh Lord, let's not forget the Silence and the Weeping Angels! *whimper* So, to prepare for the 50th anniversary coming in November I need to whip this ole body into shape. I already eat a 60% paleo diet and work out with my hubby and sons on our Bowflex, but after reading through the Nerd Fitness blog articles I really want to add in some free weights and get busy. I would also like to be able to run more than 10 feet before I keel over (The Doctor's companions usually do a lot of running). I'm ready to get started. Yay! WhoGirl
