Help me Learn to Draw: Now Taking Art Requests
Damy replied to kingclumsy's topic in Rebel Army Base Camp
While pointing to the camera and saying "Come with me if you want to lift!" -
She doesn't look like she could throw a punch and I don't see how they are going to change that, considering how... thin she is in some pictures. :/

Annoying comments you hear all the time
Damy replied to goodbyeharrison's topic in Rebel Army Base Camp
I have the same problem. I'm 29 and I look like 17 or 18 (or younger) at times (especially when I'm shaved). I hear the "aren't you supposed to be in school" all the time 8[ And, yeah, try to find a girlfriend when you look like something they might adopt rather than date 8[ -

Handling negative self-talk - how do you do it?
Damy replied to Huntress's topic in Rebel Army Base Camp
Best way of eliminating negative self-talk? Punishment through burpees! "I'm a joke, I can barely move any weight when I lift, I don't have the right to call myself a powerlifter" 10 Burpees. "You'll never improve, you'll never get better, eventually you'll realise that you suck at this and you should quit" 20 Burpees But seriously, the best way of losing ones self-preoccupation is to focus on something else. Get busy and forget yourself. Forget all of it - how you look, how you feel, how much you lift, and most of all, forget about peoples opinions. They mostly just talk to hear their own voice anyway. If you like to draw - you are an artist, no matter how your drawings look like! If you like to run; you are a runner, no matter how fast or how far you run. If you like to wear old-fashioned Fedoras, you are propably me, which is especially awesome! Get busy with the things you love, dedicate yourself to something like helping family and friends, or a good cause, a hobby, or others less fortunate than yourself. Your life still won't be free of troubles. No one's is. It doesn't mean you'll enjoy every minute. No one does. But it does mean that voice in your head will shut up more often, because, well, you are just to busy to listen! -
My Deviantart gallery: http://damon1984.deviantart.com/gallery/ It's pretty much a testimonial to my nerdiness

First: Gender is not important. I can't say "all men are this way" and "all women are that way" any more than I can say "all irishmen are this way (drunk?)". Generalizations don't hold up. They are good for jokes, and that's it. There are aggressive women and passive men, physical women and verbal men, carreer-orientated women and home-orientated men, and vice versa. Maybe most men differ from most woman in some statistical way, but we don't have relationships with "most men" or "most women". We have relationships with individuals. Second: Most people simply confuse love with possession. It's part of pop culture. "You're mine." My boyfriend, my wife, my child. My, my. We consider this perfectly reasonable. Why? Because all our concepts of love come from the so called "romantic love" - and romantic love is furiously and possessive. It's an emotional storm, a thrilling attraction, a deep lust, hardwired in our brains. Poeple are addicted to their needs. Real Love? Real love isn't possessive. Real love isn't the same as need. It involves givig, not taking. The people who wonder, if they are feeling real love, never wonder if they are just sexually aroused or sad or... in need for something. Approval, support. Sex. Something, anything. Whenever you hear, that love can't last or love is destructive, you can be sure, that you are hearing a description of lust, or desire, or need. True love is something different, it's an emotion of deep caring that asks nothing (much - (we are all humans)) in return. You just want someone to be happy - your puppy, your child, your friend... your girl- or boyfriend. And if he or she feels the same, well, bingo, then you will grow together and become who you really are and not what someone expects you to be. Third: 14 pages and no one said "what I love is a man with a good looking Fedora"? I'm dissapointed, girls. Really... really dissapointed

Yay, a new Laura-Challenge! Shit, there already are like a million posts You are really dealing with a lot of stuff lately. I wish I could help you with some smart advice, but frankly, I have none. So, I'm going to contribute moral support in posting a funny(?) Star Trek gif every day That basically made me snort, lol. I tried this meditation-thing a few years ago. Not my cup of tea. I'm one of these people who need to "move" to settle down, and I think the best way to accomplish this is in doing something creative. Like drawing for example. Do you have any hobbys like this?

This will sound a bit stupid, but it may help if you hold a dumbbell in your hand and close to your body. A little weight (10-15 lbs?) that will help you to find and keep your balance. Also, this is a great article from the guy that did all the workouts from "convict conditioning": http://www.beastskills.com/one-legged-squat-the-pistol/ Good luck
