  1. Your workouts sound intense! That plus the wolf cubs makes me think you're probably already a bad ass. But I'm sure there's always room for improvement. I have the same problem sometimes when I start eating more veggies and lean protien and less processed stuff. Big part of why I'm hesitant to go full Paleo, that stuff seems to not agree with me at all. At the very least its significantly harder to digest. But for me, fish and eggs seem to do better as proteins than anything else, And leafy greens are the easiest kind of veggies. And beef will always always mess me up. You definitly have to listen to your body, it knows what it needs better than any book or website can tell you. Hope you feel better, and get back to kicking butt tomorrow!
  2. Thats a nice motto! I might right that down on my calender. It's true though, once you start excepting excuses from yourself, you can find an excuse just about anywhere. Can't run today cause I slept in, forgot to wash my running shorts, its too cold, its too hot, I have a splinter, whatever. Following the "only skip once" rule, I had to do the intervals today, even though my calves still felt a bit funky (just remind me to never ever to "calf raises" again, so not worth it). The nice thing was, once I started running I couldn't actually feel them, I think maybe it even helped a little. I have noticed kinda the same thing with my dad. I live with him. I started trying to eat healthier back in April, and I didn't make any requests about him not having things in the house or changing his eating at all, but there's way more fruits and veggies around now, and I cook healthy dinners instead of letting him take us to restaurants. So I'm saving him money, and he's eating better. He's lost almost as much weight as I have, and he's gone down two belt notches. He keeps bragging he's back to the size he was in High School. It's really nice to be a good influence.
  3. First update: I was going to take some measurements this morning, but there wasn't a single tape measure in my whole house. But my weight is currently at 144. I took a picture, but I'm going to keep it to myself for now, until it becomes a glorious "before" picture. 1. I couldn't run intervals this morning, cause my calves are really sore and tight and it jut feels like a bad idea. So today I did an Angry Birds workout, and some pilates, and I'm going to to a lot of stretching so I can hopefully run tomorrow. 2. Stuck to my diet plans last night, and hit the grocery store to stock up on fruits and veggies. My dad was worried cause our entire cart was full, so we made a bet on the price, and it was less than half of what he was expecting. Cause fruits and veggies are cheaper than prepared stuff! That was a fun surprise. 3. I only made one comment yesterday, but two today. So hopefully I can stick to that one better in the future. I'm a little worried for tonight cause I'm visiting friends, but they're fairly health conscious themselves so it shouldn't be too much of a danger zone. In the past, sometimes I feel embarassed or weirdly guilty if I'm changing my diet, so I end up eating lots of stuff I don't really want just to prove to people that I'm not "dieting." I just need to expect the same level of respect from them that they give me. Ie, what they put in their bodies is completely there own business and i would never judge, and I can politely request they do the same. onwards and upwards!
  4. That seems like a good plan. Best of luck to you! I love the idea of the sticky notes. I tape my workout calender to my wall, but maybe I'll put some encouraging notes on my mirror.
  5. Congrats on your success so far. And your baby! I've heard of the whole 30 challenge, but I was too chicken to start it this time. I hope it works out for you. You obviously have a lot of willpower, since you've had success already. You can do it! Best of luck!
  6. Congrats on how far you've already come, that's really inspiring. I totally relate to the license thing. I have a state ID cause I don't drive so its the one I've had since highschool, and it was about thirty pounds under my actual weight up until very very recently. Fortunately no one said anything, but I'm so glad I don't have to think "if only" every time I see it. I really like the quote in your signature.
  7. Thanks for the drawing, phatkid, it's awesome! maybe for my next challenge I'll cut out drinking entirely, but for now once a week is going to be an adjustment. I'm going to have to learn to go out with my friends and be the one not drinking, and once I get that down it should be easier to cut it out entirely. And thanks for the welcome Jennifer, hope to see you around!
  8. I'm one day late, but I'm too excited reading about this not to do it. I think this is going to be really good for me because I've been suffering from some serious fitness ADD. Basically, every time I read about a new program I get all excited about trying it, then I start doing way too many things at once and have to drop some, and I rarely get the satisfaction of meeting my goals. So hopefully this keeps me on just one track for the next 6 weeks. Main Quest: To complete my first 10k run on November 24th. Goals: 1.Complete my assigned workout every morning. I'm using this as my plan:http://www.self.com/images/pdf/cruise-through-10k-plan.pdf 2.Improve my diet: No sweets or fried foods two out of three meals and all snacks must be paleo only drink alcohol one night a week. 3.Support others by making at least 2 encouraging comments each day. I'm usually a lurker in online communities, for some reason I'm more shy online than in real life, so this will be an interesting challenge for me. Life Quest: work up to 12 pomodoros a day, six days a week. (pomodoro technique is a time management technique that I've used somewhat successfully in the past. I'm using it to improve my productivity on my writing and job searching) Motivation: This might not be as noble as most of the examples but this is the biggest motivator for me: I want to look good in skimpy clothes. I already look pretty darn good naked, if I do say so myself. But skimpy or form fitting clothing is harder to pull off. Nevertheless, its really fun to wear. A lot of girls at the kind of clubs I frequent wear corsets, but I can't afford one of those. Good thing working out is free! I'm putting off taking my starting measurements for first thing tomorrow morning, so I can be consistant. I'm so excited to be starting on this quest, and getting to know others here. Good luck everyone!
  9. I love inline skating! It was a great way for me to transition from being a total couch potato to doing cardio. Now I've transitioned to mostly running, but I still do it occaissionally. I always wear a helmet and wrist and knee gaurds. People say stuff, especially when I have to go past the middle school (darn kids!) but I don't really care. I like to keep my skull all in one peice and my knees scab free, thank you very much.
