  2. Don't worry, I'm still here. I've just been busy with our LCHF group and running a mini-challenge of my own over there. Anywho, here's last weeks grades 1 Diet - A+ 2 Activity - B 3 Workout - F (yeah, I just bailed on this one until I get a few other things together) 4 Personal Care- A I've been gearing up for the new year already. I have a new project setting sail on the first and I've been pouring a lot of time into preparing for that. I can't wait though!
  3. Bah! That's just because everyone is addicted to carbs. lmao... I live above addiction.
  4. Barely touched the computer the past few days, I've been gone pretty much all day every day. Eating good. Activity good. Personal care good. Lifting... yeah, so I'm still slacking there. I have the energy, I just don't have the time, unless I lift right after dinner and right before bed. It upsets me more than it should. I know I'm doing alright on most fronts, and I am doing my best, but I still feel like I'm missing out.
  5. 283... phew! I thought my weight was never going to change! (ok, so I knew it would, but still...) Last weeks grades: 1 Diet - A+ 2 Activity - A 3 Workout - F (I don't want to make excuses, but I was very busy this week, and by the time I was free I was just too worn out.) 4 Personal Care- B+ My mother purchased me an entire blood glucose testing set (the meter, lance-ejector, lances, strips, etc.). This may not mean much to too many people on this site, but I was glad to see my numbers in the low normal range. No fear of diabetes any more. It's good to have on hand though (for us ketogenic folk) so I can test how certain things effect me personally. Love self-science! I'm almost to my weight goal for this challenge. I've lost 17 of the 20 I'm hoping to lose in this 6 week window. This brings me to a total loss of 67 pounds since September 5th. Not too shabby for someone with virtually no cardio, and only recently started lifting (and missing that half the time).
  6. Tomorrow I must must MUST get back to my lifting! I've done pretty good getting active. Done a lot around the house and have been getting out even more than usual, but I'm ready to get my butt back in my gym!
  7. Got geared up today for a good lift, but it never really happened. (sigh) perhaps tomorrow I can get back to work on my body.
  8. Ain't nobody got the time!!! I have been busy non-stop since Sunday. Luckily I've gotten a lot of exercise and tons of drumming time, but no time for workouts. I know, I know... "you could find the time" HA! I wish. It's been literally, kids on the bus, gone all day, home for late dinner, bed. Rinse and repeat. If it helps, I've done random squats and lunges, and even lifted tires and random heavy crap just to do it while I've been out. Not the same as a structured workout, for sure, but still... effort!
  9. I guess I missed a day again. Yesterday's lift went quite well. Made some solid gains. Can't complain. End of week, time to grade myself again: 1 - A+ 2 - A (not perfect, but I did drum for a few hours every day) 3 - A+ (Friggin nailed it, corndog!) 4 - A+ (I did a very good job taking care of myself this week.) My grades keep getting better each week!
  10. I have a few sets, at different thickness (resistance). But would that really be more beneficial than doing free weight exercises? I'm not talking isolation, I'm talking about the compound stuff like what I (we) use in SS or SL.
  11. I agree... but when you're still 290+ pounds, with very weak muscles... you have to start somewhere. The advice seems to always be, "do pushups, do chinups, etc" But those body weight exercises just aren't possible when you're this heavy and untrained.
  12. Yesterday was another good lifting day. It felt good to really push myself! Today is a rest day, which I am thankful for because I can feel that elbow tightening up again. It's nowhere near the pain or limited motion that it was a month ago, but I can tell it's reverting back. I figure, take an Advil, rest the arm, and save it for tomorrows workout.
  13. Very productive day today! I set up my second drum kit at home as a practice kit and played for hours. I got my workout in today and pushed myself to that happy place. I warmed up right, I did my sets heavy (5,10 pounds more on each exercise.) I also had a good yoga session this evening. Although I am very tight in pretty much all areas, I feel I got things a little worked out. I just feel good overall today.
  14. Well put together answer Gandalf, very helpful! And thanks everyone else as well! Today felt really good! I did a proper warm up on all exercises, and I went up 5 pounds on the bench press and 10 on squat and deadlift. I also added some bicep curls at the end. It was a good, well balanced workout. I wasn't thinking and ended up doing 3x5 on deadlifts... I'm guessing if I could do that (instead of 1x5), my weight may be too light, though it feels about right. I'll see if my wife would record a few videos for me. I completely agree on being a self-critic. While I can be my own worst critic, the best observations come from other people. I learned my form from my personal trainer years ago, who is a professional body builder. I also watched the SS dvd and made sure I was completely on par. Form is the most important part. Like they say, it's not practice that makes perfect, it's PERFECT practice makes perfect. I have a mirror next to me in my weight room, so I can see my form, but again, it's just from my perspective.
  15. 291 as of Monday. Another 4 pounds down (and a total of 59). Thanks guys! So much awesome support on this site.
