Has anyone read the book, Grain Brain? I found it interesting the link between high-carb diets, diabetes and other brain diseases. The same plaque that develops from high-carb diets (a mis-folding of the protein chain) is the same type of plaque that builds up in the brain and causes Alzheimer's Disease. I found it thought provoking that the inflammation from gluten contributes to autism and ADHD. I was very appreciative of the author citing his research and play to read some of those studies that most intrigue me.

You have some great goals! Weekends are always tricky for me. I find that the less I am in the house, the less likely I will be to eat poorly. I have to log all my foods to force me to stop and think about what I am eating. I eat primal 80% of the time. I try to stay in mild ketosis. Once you fully eliminate the confections and grains, you will notice such an improvement in energy stability. It was one of the first things I noticed when I made the switch to primal eating. Now I can skip meals and it doesn't effect me negatively. Also, my migraines have disappeared! Squeeeeee! Good luck with your week!

If you are looking for a place to log your food, Myfitnesspal is a pretty good App. I can scan the item's bar code and all the nutritional information pops up. You can set your macros by hand to match your goals. There is a place to log in your exercise as well.

Sept 16-23: 386 minutes of exercise in the week. 2 days were lifting heavy. I started on the first room of the house and should have it done by tomorrow. TOday is an IF day and I am having no struggles with it.

Gabsational - Set Phasers To Stun
Sk8rGrl replied to Gabsational's topic in Level 1 Rebels (First Time Challengers)
I added you as a friend! I am a total newb here, but I have been working on my fitness for several years now. Good luck on your challenge! -
I will vary. The gym has access to weight machines, kettle bells, free weights. I will probably mix it up a bit. My body adjusts very quickly and I have to constantly adapt in order to get any results with it!

I work at a community college. The college decided to offer the faculty and staff a fitness challenge: if you attend the fitness center 3 x weekly for a minimum of 30 minutes for 3 months, then the rest of the year is free membership. This is great because it gives me access to weights and other equipment I would otherwise not be able to afford. SO I got me a locker, and I started three weeks ago.
