  1. Just threw my first egg monster in the oven. 18 eggs, bag of frozen cut leaf spinach, a couple of bell peppers, a can of diced tomatoes with green chiles, 12 oz package of center cut bacon.
  2. Some things are going well in my life. Some are not. I've decided to push myself and take steps to make things even better. I have an appointment with a therapist [eep!] on Thursday to help get the mind right. I would like to get back down to around 180 but have it be lean muscle. I am currently 208. According to a post workout weigh in just about an hour ago. Now that my hellish [55+ hours] work week is done and I will be back to 40ish, I want to get back to the gym. What I was doing before hell week was tracking everything I ate with MyFitnessPal, staying roughly around the net 1580 calories it said I should be eating and going low carb most days. My workout routine is/was thus: Day A: Dumbbell Fly/Press Lat Pulldown Incline Dumbbell Press One-armed Dumbbell Row Cable Crossover Fly Arnold's Day B: Leg Curl [machine] Leg Extension [machine] Squats [bodyweight/with just the bar] Abdominal crunch [machine] Good Mornings [i think that's what they are called...basically the opposite of a crunch?] Each day I would finish off with 30 minutes on the elliptical [due to a hammer toe, I'm not sure running will ever be plausible]. And I would just alternate the two days. So...what am I doing wrong? What am I doing right? Is this an okay workout to build a little strength before starting heavier lifting? Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions/support. Let me know I need to clarify anything. - Jonathan
  3. Time to stop lurkin' and start workin'. I'm in.
  4. 67alecto, you are an inspiration. Great work, man!
  5. I completely fell off the face of the earth last challenge but I am back. After a week and a half of tremendous back pain, I got to the point where I could get in the pool and swim a little to stretch it out. On Wednesday, I went to the gym and did 40 minutes on the elliptical and a few sets of pec flys on a machine to see if either would make my back hurt. My back actually felt a lot better after the cardio. Yesterday I went to the gym again and did 45 minutes on the elliptical. With a couple of cheats (damn you, cookies!) I've been eating healthy the past few days and will be hitting the gym again tonight. Goals: 1)Go to the gym at least 3, if not 4 to 5 times weekly. 2)Lose 10 - 15 lbs. This seems realistic as I have been eating like crud till recently and haven't been active whatsoever and I am now taking care of both of those things at once. 3)Make eating healthy and going to the gym a habit instead of having to consciously think about it. Keep up the good work everyone
  6. Well, I forgot to use their handy dandy electrogrip body fat percent transmogrifier. And by forgot, I mean there was an attractive woman working the counter as I walked out. I did legs and cardio. Seated Leg Extensions: 50 lbs x 12 (x1), 65 lbs x 10 (x2) Seated Leg Curls: 50 lbs x 12 (x1), 60 lbs x 10 (x2) Leg Press: 90 lbs x 12 (x1) , 140 x 10 (x3) Seated Calf Raise: 45 lbs x 10 (x3) Elliptical: 30 minutes (310 calories burned) Just got in. Went to the grocery store and picked up .5 lb of Tilapia and some asparagus stalks to cook up in a little while. Drinking a Vanilla Creme Muscle Milk right meow. Day 1 down!
  7. Since I just signed up for the May Challenge, I figured I should also pop over here and give y'all a quick, "Heeeeeey brother!" My name's Jon, I live out in Vegas, and I am trying to get my swol on and by extension, get my life on. I've had a rough couple of years full of fail and am trying to steer the failboat into a safe harbor so I can make the necessary repairs before setting back out on the high seas. Also, I am hoping that I will embrace my inner nerd while here. I moved out here and am staying with the folks to save money, pay down debts, and eventually be all squared away to take off to Central America to volunteer, live, and then work by the end of the year. Lots to do and it's frustrating but I've got promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep. I have quickly fallen in love with this site and am happy to be here.
  8. Hopefully it's not too late to sign up. 28 Day Fitness Goals Hit the gym 3 to 4 times a week for both lifting and cardio. No soda or sweets. Lose 10 to 12 lbs, which I think will be doable if I can stick with the second goal Drop Body Fat percentage. Current weight: 195 lbs Current Body Fat: Will fill this in after the gym tonight. Need to use their equipment to figure that out.
