  1. Total Awesomeness, Day 14

  2. Total Awesomeness, Day 8

  3. Mentioned about the centre of gravity as I played Roller Derby and the men always did massive shoulder hits but I could knock em down easily with Hip checks
  4. @Vintage - that was a great article on pull ups - thanks for that. I think it is more difficult for women to build up upper body strength, as the centre of gravity lies in the hips and men's in the shoulders. Difficult, however not impossible. After my workout yesterday my lats are not on fire! Focused on Negatives and Jump pull ups with Negatives and finishing off with Rows. I think everyone has different views about pull downs - however I can see a benefit in using the pull down to supplement training, just don't think it should be used as a substitute for bodyweight training as this is going to build up the right muscles at the end of the day
  5. Total Awesomeness, Day 5

  6. Hey thanks for the tips guys - the trainer at the gym suggested 3 different pull downs using 2/3 my body weight, increasing, also I have a pull up bar at home and think negatives look like a great idea - I can do a pull up if I jump a bit and think negatives could help a lot with that. I see now that Steve is a fan of the inverted rows also. Am more of a fan of free weights and body weight - mainly because it feels like am going to drop the pull down weights! There is definitely some good stuff here and I have seen the guy in the vid explaining the negatives before and think he is pretty good at explaining stuff thanks again!!
  7. Total Awesomeness, Day 3

  8. Hi Nerds, I am wondering what might be the best way to build up enough strength to do pull ups? At present I am unable to do even one. Has anyone been in this position and can now do them and do you know how long it might take - obviously everyone is a bit different in this way but any tips would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Hey thanks vengefulpear! Hopefully see you around and good to see some of the UK chapter in the rebellion!
  10. Welcome to the rebellion!! Also well done on losing 2 stone, that's great. I think it helps when you have goals that you can see and work towards. Best of luck!
  11. Total Awesomeness, Day 2

  12. Total Awesomeness, Day 1

  13. Hey awesome nerds! I am new to NF and here I am at Day 1. I read the article about Staci and have decided to have a go at powerlifting. For the last decade I have mainly used dumbbells and to exhaustion, however just not really getting the right results which for me, right now is to almost half my body fat (down to 15%) and for now, be able to lift twice what I can at the moment. Current Stats: 5'3", 140lb, 28% body fat. Squat = 25kg, Push press = 20kg (more than I thought!) Deadlift 50kg, Pull Up - not yet, but am working on it Photo to come tomorrow. Other goals include working towards becoming the best me possible so I can make a difference to the people around me Here's to levelling up! Look forward to meeting people!
