  1. Started the Barbell Battalion!

  2. Fridge is cleaned out for a fresh shopping trip tomorrow. We also paid a visit to our local farmers market//butcher shop.Great stuff so I think I know where we'll be getting our meats from here on out.

  3. I'm still working diet out myself, but as far as the training goes the best thing to do is simply ride. There's really no better way to train although I would recomend adding in strength building. Not only does strong arms and core mean less fatigue in your arms when you're going long distances, but it helps you refine control of your bike. When I'm riding (both mountain and road) most of my steering comes from shifting my weight rather then yanking the handle bars around unless I'm doing tight turns on a singletrack course. Also, mountains are your friends for building that endurance up.
  4. Strava's a popular one and it offers a good amount of information http://www.strava.com/ Another one I'll use is Endomondo since it not only works with biking so if I have any other activities (biking somewhere and then hiking for example), I can log both. http://www.endomondo.com/login Both of them have free and prime versions.
  5. Last of the sodas are out of the house.

  6. Cut the number of soda today. Going to do the same tomorrow. I know that the headache I get from caffeine withdrawl is what keeps me from going cold turkey, so Monday I'm going to switch over to coffie at work and go down to one soda at dinner.

  7. Thanks! I know I can be the type who over things so I figure starting small is the best long term strategy.
  8. Jumping in with both feet today. Diet will be the big thing to work on. Goal for this week: Cut down on soda

  9. Greetings all! Short time lurking, first time posting and I have to admit I'm a bit hyped for it. From what I've seen, this is an amazing community and I'm eager to level up and finish a fight that I started a long time ago. Where to start? I've always had a struggle with weight. Always been heavy and I've been through the highs and lows trying to get myself healthy. While I've always been active (love hiking, walking, martial arts), I've been a habitual eater. Eat when I'm bored, eat when I'm sad, eat the wrong things ect. I've done Weight Watchers with my mom, tried Nutrisystem and while I did lose weight things would always stall out at some point. I'd weigh myself and get discouraged if I gained. I'd hit a wall and say "what's the point?" Things would "knock me off the wagon" so to speak, but sooner or later I'd get back on. Try something new. I'd hate just sitting on my ass and doing nothing (sitting on said ass and running my CyberGen Arco Runner was all together different) so I'd keep walking or get back into the gym. At my heaviest in 2004 I was at 275 and while it took a whle I'm now bouncing around in the 210-198 range. Since the start of this year, I've lost 20 pounds and while I have a steady workout routine (at least 5 days a week), counted calories and logged food, I've stalled out again and caught myself falling back into bad habits out of frustration. So I decided there had to be another way to attack this fight and started looking around. After looking through various sites and books I stumbled across Nerd Fitness and found myself plowing through the blog and reading everything I could. From there I started looking into dietary information, orginization and motivation techniques and grinning like an idot as I imagined being able to add stat bonuses to myself in real life. It was the best random enounter EVER. I'm still digging through all the information on Nerd Fitness and some refference sites, so so far I love what I see. Diet has always been my kryptonite and the information I've been seeing here may be the missing piece I've mentally needed to get into the final leg of my fight. It's going to be hard work, but I'm looking forward to it and I look forward to know more of my fellow rebels.
