  1. I joined several years got but life got in the way. I recently started a new job that's much more stable than anything I've had for the last 10 years. My goals for this 4 week challenge fall into 2 area. The first area is fitness. I plan to record everything I eat or drink in MyFitnessPal. If it's not recorded it's not tracked and it can't be measured. I've obtained a stationary bike. I plan on assembling that And to start using it 3 times a week. I also plan to do some Strength training on the days I bike. The second area I focus on is finances. I want to be more disciplined in recording transactions As they occur.
  2. I'd like to join in as well. frankenear@gmail.com
  3. Thanks for putting this together! I expect it will come in very handy.
  4. I'm thinking I'll be there about 6-ish...
  5. Thinking about hitting Zombie Burger this Sunday night (12/14). Anyone else?
  6. It is time... I'm at the heaviest I've ever been in my life. I'm not liking it...at all. I had my annual physical last month. It's required now my the employer's insurance company so the can track our numbers. Mine aren't so happy. They are a warning that if I don't change I'm going to face some health issues...sooner rather than later. I was having a conversation with someone the other day and it dawned on me that I've got at least another ten years that I've got to be healthy and fit. I want to go hiking. I want to go backpacking. I want to carry canoes across rough portages in the Boundary Waters. From today - no from now forward - I will be different. I will make the changes necessary to be who I want to be. I will push forward and accomplish my health and fitness goals. I will not beat myself up for missing the mark occasionally. I will learn to forgive myself. I will stop the negative mental talk and focus. I will stop and look at what went wrong. I will plan around those pitfalls so I don't fall into them again. It is time...
  7. Hi Jen, I was just reading through this forum and came upon your thread. What you wrote, I could write exactly the same things - except the pronouns would be a different gender and the ages and years would be a few more. Your thread has got me thinking that it really is time to respawn again. Congrats on two days without the soda or candy! Keep going!
  8. I'd thought about one of those and asked a trucker friend what he thought of them. He didn't have first hand experience but said he was told they're OK but don't work as well as you'd hope they would. Do you have first hand experience with one?
  9. I'm an on-again off-again MFP user. Maybe if I had a couple of friends over there I'd be a bit more consistent. I'm frankenear there as well. Feel free to add me!
  10. I'm basically in the same situation as the original poster. I work out of a van driving from location to location throughout the day. I've got a cooler I take along. Winter is coming. I'm going to want hot food. Drive-thru is killing me - maybe literally. If anyone has ideas on how to re-warm food while on the go in a van, I'd love to hear them. TIA fellow rebels!
  11. So basically I failed at the last quest. I won't even bother trying to sign any points. Work went crazy with mandatory 75 hour weeks. It took me about 3 weeks of just 40 hour work weeks to feel normal again. I plan on joining in on the latest 6 week challenge. I'll have to reset some of my exercise goals. I'm dealing with foot and shoulder injuries. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

  13. So, basically, I'm blowing this whole thing. Work went insane - six days a week; push til you can't do anything more. I finished my sixth day this evening - 74:53 minutes this week. The check will be big but it's taking it's toll on me. Seems like everything I consume comes from a machine I put coins into. Basic body routine? Haven't touched that in weeks. Step goal? Nailing it every day with ease. Sleep goal? Seems to be off and on. Got word today that this insanity might be over for a while.
  14. Crap! Has it really been ten days since I posted?!?!?! Well, the numbers don't lie. It has been 10 days. Basically, work has been interfering with life. Over the last two weeks I've pounded out 88 plus hours of overtime. That means I've been doing 80 hour work weeks. I'm usually tired and wiped out by the time I get home at night. At any rate, I've been nailing the steps goals almost every day simply because work keeps me moving all the time. The sleep goal has been hit or miss. Miss days come pretty close. The exercise goal just hasn't been happening. I'm too wiped out at night. I sleep as late as I can in the mornings so it ain't happening before work. I have the weekend off so tomorrow will be a workout day for sure. If 80% of this truly is diet, then I need to brain storm some creative ways to eat during the day. I literally never know where I'll end up at the end of a work day. I might be 5 miles from home. I might be 200 miles from home. So meal planning for me is a nightmare. I work out of a van. It's winter time. I want hot food. One day this week I did oatmeal breakfast, Trader Joe's salad greens with blue cheese, dried cranberries and candied pecans and some kind of small snack for dinner. It was about 1k calories in all. I really enjoyed eating so light that day. Only problem was, the next day I wanted to eat everything in sight since I'd been so hungry the day before. I need to figure out some kind of filling, paleo type foods that can be easily transported in a vehicle all day.
  15. Yesterday I worked 14 hours straight through. Wasn't a work out day. Made my step goal - 10594. Made my sleep goal. Today worked 15 hours straight. Is supposed to be a workout day but that isn't happening. 12983 steps. Missed sleep goal by 45 minutes. I was very restless and cranked up from work. Not happy about skipping the work out but it's been a long day... Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4

  17. Thanks Susan1430! Your encouragement is greatly appreciated...
  18. So, I blew my step goal away today - 14,568 so far. Won't go much higher since it's nearly bedtime. Was a busy day at work so lots of walking. Right foot is paying for it. I'm dealing with plantar fasciitis. Icing the foot now. Sleep goal was met last night - 8:07. Did two rep's of the beginner's body weight routine tonight so I'm back on track with the exercise goal. This is the first night this week. My eating isn't focused. I'm still eating the same old junk but am paying more attention. I know if I keep up the exercise routine, the eating will follow.
  19. So yesterday and today I missed my step goals. Today should have been a work out day but I didn't. At least I met my sleep goals. I guess. I don't know. I don't care. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
  20. You need to talk to the adult in your life who can help you. You might think there isn't one but there is. It's the first person the thought of when you read my suggestion. That person can help you. Be sincere. Be violently honest when you tell that person about your need for help. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
  21. Made my steps goal. Off day for work out. Missed sleep goal by 30 mins. Overall an OK day. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
  22. Life has thrown challenges at all of us. Great for you that you've made your plan of attack!
  23. Oh I just remembered what I wanted to write about... Today in the elevator at work I decided I want to do pull ups. At some point in all of this, I want to do form perfect pull ups. I haven't been able to do them since I was a kid. In my current state, I can't do them. But, somewhere, long term, I want to do a pull up or ten.
  24. Thanks Haevyn! Wishing you all the best in your quest!
  25. I'm from the US. Long ago, I worked in an office that scheduled meetings all over the world. I was repeatedly recognized for my world geography knowledge. The reservation system worked by country and then drilled down to city. Often the customers would know KL as the city but didn't know the country. So, I'd get the "What country is KL in again?" Lame story I know but it's my connection to KL...
