Oh, it's something you get from internet folklore. The crossfit experience as a whole has been NOTHING like I thought it would be from the internet. I'm still a little cautious as things are starting to hurt, after all I do have my old injuries and weaknessess... But I'm enjoying it each time more. It's def the highlight of my day. I get so psyched I actually TALK to people. I keep this up I might end up making... whatchamacallit? ... friends. It's been a while

Tessie's weightloss journey log
Bookworm_Tess replied to Bookworm_Tess's topic in Daily Battle Logs and Epic Quests
Uhm... The drugstore where I usually weight myself is closed? Has been for several days. The other one doesn't have a scale and the last one close by is the one in which I was held hostage during a robbery once so... not so keen on going in there anymore. No news, then, until I figure this out.- 140 replies

New to Strength Training and Don't Know How Much to Eat
Bookworm_Tess replied to JoRaspberrii's topic in Nutrition
I'm asking myself the same questions. I just started crossfit and the hunger it brings! I had been tracking intake, weight and body fat for a while and was struggling to keep to the goal intake... Now it's just... off. I have no idea how much I should be eating. So I eat.. and track. It's a slow process but other then really track and observe, there's no way to tell. One person will tell you 2000, another will say 5000 as easily as one will say paleo while the next says porridge. I love porridge btw. Lol. -
Getting frustrated
Bookworm_Tess replied to FamilyBeer's topic in Rebel Introductions and the Respawn Point
Oh for the family habits: you could go martha stweart on them ang get them a pretty big plastic box, with a lid, and tell them this is where gluttony candy goes and make it a rule not to go in there. And make a visible limited obvious space for them to put those things in? You could make it red. Or worse, pink mhuahuahauha 3:) -
Getting frustrated
Bookworm_Tess replied to FamilyBeer's topic in Rebel Introductions and the Respawn Point
I am actually laughing out loud. Because I'm a little silly, I even spat out some coffee. But the computer's alright It was a student. Then I got distracted.. I was saying. There are so many approches to losing weight, if one is has not worked for some time, maybe some other will. You could try counting calories or whole 30 or whatever. Low-carb, and not no-carb, didn't work for me because I could never keep on ketosys. Still I managed most days under 10 grams of carb and after several weeks, I got very sick (infection) and I had to eat properly to get better. It took a few weeks and by the end of it, I had put on all the weight I had shed plus a cuple of kilos. So I'm trying something else. Then you have to remember losing weight might be hard then it's possible that it's not that you're not getting results, but you're not getting the resukts you expected? In that last case, I can only assure you you're not alone and tell you to hang in there because, after all, it's not like we have a choice to give up, is it. -

First thing: you are 54 and 18% body fat, that's a win right there! Alright! Two: it's hard enough to chage your habits, I don't think you're going to change your family's too. Sorry. Three: low carb didn't work for me. Not because it didn't make me lose weight, but because it didn't have a chance... (I have to go, someone's ate the door, I'll come back I promess) -
Wait. There are classes for that? O.o

I don't think my English was enough this time. Do you mean Joy is only having soda once a week? That a big win isn't it? I mean she said she was very addicted to it, things seem to be getting better, then? As for the "monthly woes of being a woman". You think you know, but you don't know. You don't know the half of it. I hate it. I just want to GRRRR!!! ARGH! lol. No way I'd keep to whole 30 through that. Send my congrats to Joy. -
I like my large thighs as well. But I live i Brazil, so I only wear jeans with lycra in them, otherwise they fit in such a way that my asscrack is out 80% of the time. Not cool. But it's key to understand how good people with bigass thighs look in skirts. I have one pair of jeans and 999.999 skirts.

"Let’s start at the beginning. How did you get into CrossFit? It’s surprising, because you really don’t strike me as a douchebag." ^ exactly my reaction to my current instructor frist time I met him.

there are not "several" boxes to be chosen from here I think there's another one some eight kilometers from here, though it could be the same one I go today in a new address... and I heard news from one across town, two buses from here.

Came by to see how things are going. Sorry to hear you feel sick! Food logs look fantastic! It looks just like my fridge! (cuz I keep the treat in the cupboard :-p ) If you're feeling restless, try herbal tea. Camomile is very effective for daytime restlessness and emotional crises. Valerian is good for sleeping like a log and feeling calmer over longer periods of times, ie, days. But it can put you right off, specially the first few times you take it. Also, it tastes like shit. But nothin's perfect. That's what I have when I'm going through my spells of insomnia. -
Tessie's weightloss journey log

Why is everybody losing weight and I'm not? Why can't I keep to a dramatic caloric deficit like apparently every girl out there? Why can't I do stronglifts on twelve hundred calories and hit a PR every day like them? Are they lying? Add new high intensity training to PMS to feeling "liberated" by what the instructor said about my eating (to little, in his opinion), I'm hitting 3000 calories a day. Of FOOD, no junk, no garbage. Simple straightfoward HUNGER. I cook, I eat, I count, I weep.- 140 replies

*Sigh* I'm sorry. I know I wasn't helpful. I was mostly just talking to myself...

Wouldn't it make for a happier lifting trip to learn to embrace the body it brings with it? Instead of finding complicated formulas to manipulate redyction in target areas, which is slighty impossible? Try to see the changes early gain bring and enjoy them, have fun with them. Long tern changes will sure make her body leaner. Specially at such a dramatic deficit. But, you know, complinent her arse and lets have fun lifting heavy stuff.

Bookworm wakes up in time to go to the library
Bookworm_Tess replied to Bookworm_Tess's topic in Adventurers
I tried the mighty loud alarm clock once, first year of college. I'd just hit and hit snooze to that horrible sound. I once lived in a house in which I shared the bedroom with other three people, in college. I had to sleep holding my alarm clock so I'd be up at the third ring at most. I tried going to school in the morning, instead of in the evening as I usually do, for three years. I just kept almost flunking out due to the number of absences because I was never in class on time to sign the attendance sheet. I even dream between snoozes. Do you dream, in those five minute bits? I have the most lisergic dreams like that. I will try, tho, the idea of just training the body to react to the noise. I'll see what happens. Thanks!- 19 replies

Bookworm_Tess replied to Bookworm_Tess's topic in Adventurers
The sleeping beauty challenge: WEEK FIVE --- It's not over till it's over! Books with pictures make me so sleepy. Let's tackel this one bit at a time: first: maybe I can get to bed on time most nights? And let's not go crazy and make a 9 o'clock bedtime for a night owl outta nothing. I'll be reasonable: let's start at midnight and work it from there. Bed time Go to bed Wake up Hours slept To bed on time? MON MIDNIGHT midnight 8:45 8:45 Yes TUE MIDNIGHT WED THU FRI SAT SUN- 19 replies

Bookworm wakes up in time to go to the library
Bookworm_Tess replied to Bookworm_Tess's topic in Adventurers
Well, I've realized it's a lot more difficult than I expected. I'm keeping the goal in mind, I thought about giving up and adjusting my life to my limitations, but it's not an option. I'm trying breaking it down to small bits. Like maybe I can get in bed on time most nights? That'd be a start. It's still hard. Last night I went to bed on a yoga class, a crossfit workout, a nicely full stomach, and a cup of valerian tea... still I tossed and turned till god know what time. I didn't wake up to the alarm, but I am up before 9, so... sucking a little less at it- 19 replies

My box uses the Filthy Fifty as a standart to evaluate our progress. I'm not saying it's fun though. (I was scaled down to 30s, of which I did 5 exercises out of 10, which took me 29:30. Good news' that should be easy to top next time.)

Weight Gain/Very Slow Weight Loss with Weight Lifting
Bookworm_Tess replied to shaeon's topic in Strength Training!
Man, you and me both. I'm using a bunch of measuring and body fat formulas to try and stay atop of my non-weightloss frustration. I've been dieting (trying to) for three months now and lost two kilos. The other measuments tell me I actually lost over three kilos of fat, so that makes me a litte more satisifed, but... Most time sthey're only another source of frustration. What can I do. It's not like giving up is a choice, is it. -

Hey! There's a step in the right direction! Cheers! Say, why don't you take advantage of your size and try some badass contact martial art, like judo or something? Might build a lad's confidence! good luck! -
