  1. Upper body workout today. The new routine has more reps, which means lower weight. It is a bit of an ego blow, but the plateau has already been broken. I can see a real difference in the mirror and it has only been a week. I'll keep plugging away at this until I plateau again and then go back to 5 x 5 with heavy weight. I think this is a good cycle. Ate a hamburger with fries last night. Body...is...rejecting. It gets easier and easier to eat right when the body adjusts to the new program and rejects old eating patterns.
  2. Muscles...are...sore. During my lower body workout, I did the "ab solo" which is a combination crunch while throwing a medicine ball into a chute, and then picking the ball up from the return pouch and repeating. I liked it and I can feel it two days later! I will keep doing this.
  3. Bounced back from the upper body workout pretty well and was feeling lethargic. I thought that the antidote was to move to full BFL mode with 3 workouts a week (MWF). Did the lower body workout this morning. I thought that I was going to puke. I could barely walk up the stairs when I got home. My muscles were completely exhausted - no pain, just no energy. BFL was never really sold as a barbell heavy workout. I did it with barbells today and that maybe the difference. Perhaps twice a week is the happy medium for me, giving me enough of a workout to feel challenged, but also enough time to recover, considering that I am a hard gainer.
  4. Still feeling a little soreness. It is in the triceps and the lats. I think the dips workout shocked the system a bit. I tried sprinting on a treadmill today. It was awkward. Over time I will learn the machine or it will get warm enough outside for me to sprint there.
  5. A little soreness in the triceps today. Otherwise, no soreness. Very different from when I was lifting 5 x 5s.
  6. Changing things up. Mondays - stretch or Yoga routine, walk Tuesday - walk Wednesday - BFL style lifting routine (barbell centric), walk Thursday - walk Friday - sprint Today was the first day lifting BFL style in a long time. It is definitely a different sensation than lifting the same heavy weight for all five sets. I did not feel the same sense of exhilaration during the lift, but I felt much more pumped after the lift and, while exhausted to the point of shaking, did not feel like puking afterward. I will do this until I plateau again and then go back to 5 x 5s. It is good to mix things up now and then.
  7. Bouncing back from last few weeks of interruptions. Weight and and bf% increased slightly, but not enough to worry about. Once I started on my regular routine (Sunday) they've started to go back down. Thinking about adding dumbbell exercises to the routine, just to change things up. Maybe Do a BFL sequence with heavy bench press or squats in the routine, once a week rather than 3 times a week. Dunno. Will see how things go between now and next week.
  8. I have had some obstacles to working out for the last two weeks. I have also gone from 80/20 eating to 70/30 eating. Today is St Patty's day so I will continue that trend until tomorrow!!! Body composition has not changed in the last two weeks. I am happy about that. Just need to get back on the train!!!
  9. Cast my vote for Ron Paul this morning. OH YEAH!!!! Deadlifts this morning felt good. My back is getting stronger. If I had 5 lbs to my lift every 3 to 4 weeks, in a year I'll be lifting 215lbs to 230 lbs, 5 x 5.
  10. Ate all Paleo yesterday. Walked 2 miles to get dinner. BF% at 16% this morning. Waist size going back to pre-non-Paleo level. Felt good this morning.
  11. Met an old friend last night. When I showed up, there was a beer waiting for me on the bar. I drank it. Today my waist is half an inch above where it was. The body definitely rebels when I add non-Paleo food to it. Just more motivation to stay on the plan!
  12. Still feeling weak. I don't know why. Could the lack of carbs be causing this? Lower back still feels very weak. I could not get a full set of squats in today. Am I moving to fast with the deadlifts? I will hold my deadlift weight steady until my squat returns to full strength. Ate a paczki yesterday. For those not from Detroit, eating paczkis on Fat Tuesday is a tradition. It is supposedly a Polish thing to do, but it seems that only Polish people in Detroit do it! After being on Paleo, eating one paczki sent my insides into a full rebellion. Definitely have no temptation to eat anything off-Paleo for a while.
  13. Wearing "skinny pants" again today and they feel even better!!!!
  14. P90X Stretch this morning. Felt very good. Fitness is a lifetime practice, not a goal.
  15. Back is weak from heavy deadlifts. I think that following TPB's advice of working out less will benefit me in the long run. Giving my body time to recover, I think, will increase my lifts. Doing some gentle stretching feels very good. TPB diet is making me feel much lighter and I can see a difference in my face (skinnier) as well as my waistline. I feel good, I feel strong! I am interested to see my pics this weekend and compare them with the earlier pics.
