  1. I hate buds too, the only ones I've had success with are the ones that came with my ipod. I had ones like this for a long time http://farendgear.com/discontinued/?showprod=EHL-&source=googprod&gclid=CM_ssu2KsLoCFeHm7AodgUIAUA. They worked well. stevembk have you tried putting your headphone cord under your shirt?
  2. Definitely go for an olympic bar and weights, they are worth the investment. Also, a great option for flooring is barn mats, they work amazing for flooring and are pretty cheap. http://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/global-rubber-4-ft-x-6-ft-pebble-barn-mat/0000000075023
  3. I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any experience running an ironman. I am looking to start serious training in November and I'd love to know what your training schedule was like. This would be my first ironman and I am looking at racing in late August early September.
  4. It depends on the shoe you're running in. I've had shoes in the past that needed to be replaced every 300-400 miles and this has been my experience with most shoes. I currently run in newton's and my first pair went well over 1000 miles without any problems. You should be switching out well before your knees start to tweak; if they are tweaking at 800 to 1000, swap them at 700. The physical appearance of the shoe has very little to do with it's condition. Holes or tred wear aren't good indicators of the shoe's condition. As you run in them the shoe itself has less give and absorbs less shock, so when you put a lot of miles on them your joints absorbs a lot more impact than the shoe.
