  4. so week 13 of doing SL 5x5 and the workout now is intense. Its taking me an hour and half to do the workouts and recovery time is longer than a day. Working out with soreness is painful. I am always tired now . I eat enough cal and sleep close to 8 hours a night. Last week I stalled at every workout. I want to switch to 3x5 before it is recommened from the program. What do you guys think, switch now or keep going until I Stall, Stall, Stall, Deload, Stall, Stall, Stall, deload, Stall, Stall, Stall, switch. I mainly want to switch because I cant recover in time for the next workout. Current stats body Weight 168 lbs Squat 210 lbs 4x5 ( i got no reps the last set) Bench 205 lbs failed by one rep twice OHP 125 lbs failed first attempt. I think because i was beat from the 210 squat DL 255 lbs 1x5 have not failed here yet. Row 140 lbs Failed first attempt. Thanks for the feedback
  5. Oh man I needed to read this. I also wanted to increase because the weight is sooo lite. But after reading the comments here I'll just keep at it and be patient. Thanks all.
  6. Well I had the surgery 2 weeks ago and I will definitely ease back into it. 2 weeks in recovery and I just barely started to walk at regular speed without feeling any discomfort. I will wait 4 more weeks before I get back in the gym then start light to see how everything feels.
  7. Since January I started doing the 5x5 stronglift program. Over the weekend this lump came out in my groin area. Went to the doctor on Monday and he said its a Inguinal Hernia. I will have surgery on Monday Feb 17, where they will put mesh in the torn muscle wall. Doctor said no lifting at all for 4 weeks maybe even six. But I am curious if anyone has had hernia surgery before and what their recovery time was to get back to the lifting numbers before the surgery. Can I start where I left off after the six weeks or re-start the 5x5 stronglift with just the bar again. Thanks
  8. I got it on my right elbow at the beginning of the year. I did the following decreased the weight, bought the arm band for tennis elbow called air soft and wear it when I work out. When it hurts I ice it for 10-15 minutes. Now the pain only occurs once in a while.
  9. I'm a 33 year old father of two. I am an engineer so my job consist of sitting at my desk only working out my noggin. I have been going to the gym on and off for the past 10 years. I do not look like someone who has been working out that long. I have taken bad tips from different people on how to build muscle. I must have had high self esteem or something cause I thought I look good until my wife took this picture of me at the beach summer 2012. I am 5'7" and was 183 lbs. I thought the weight was all muscle. Looking at the picture I realize it was all fat. That's when I decided to change my ways. This year I have learn the right way to workout which is lift heavy and compound workouts (dead lifts, squats, bench, presses, pull-ups etc). However I still had not solved the second part of solution to being fit which is nutrition. By May 2013 not much had change. At that time I decided I need to loose weight so I started counting calories. In 4 months I went from 178 to 160. While that is good in some sense I still want to get stronger and loose fat. And counting calories sucks ! So continuing to do research is where I came across NF and learn that the solution to the puzzle is Paleo. What I'm bringing to the table is full commitment to paleo and continue to work hard in the gym. Nutrition will be a challenge for me, especially in the middle of football season and holidays. Which means beer,BBQ, tail gates etc. dropping bad nutrition habits will be hard but I will give it the old college try. Wish me luck and hope in January I can post awesome progress.
