  1. Hey everyone, I know (most of you) aren't physical therapists or anything, but can anyone recommend a good example of beginner lunge form? I tried doing them like Steve does in the Playground workout video, but my knees hurt every time now, even though squats feel fine. Also, do lunges work different muscles than squats? I'd be happy to just do squats as part of my Beginner Bodyweight workout.
  2. Hey folks, I'm in Kalamazoo, just thought I'd throw that out there as I noticed some Grand Rapids folks recently commented. I'm new to all this and it takes some motivation for me to leave the house sometimes, but I'd love to make some new friends.
  3. Congrats, really. Everyone has a different dragon to slay. I fit into my engagement ring again, which I've been to chubby for for several months (almost a year). I might be a bit dehydrated at the moment, but fitting into my ring again gives me that bit of encouragement that keeps me going. Really, it's nothing, it's only a quarter size smaller than the ring I wear every day (although there was a month when I couldn't wear that one either), but it's something.
  4. Welcome from another new Michagander. I'm in Kzoo, what part of the state are you in? It's great that you have an active hobby that you enjoy and that can motivate you to become more fit!
  5. I'm brand new here. I found this website two weeks ago, and have been reading through the blog archives. I'm up to 2012 now! I've started doing a bodyweight workout three days a week and counting calories a week or so ago... so far so good. I'm posting today because the candy bowl at work was refilled, and I can see everyone eating from it from my desk, and I don't want to eat any of it. I know as soon as I have one, I'll have more. I guess it's more accurate to say I shouldn't eat any of it. :-) I'm trying to lose weight and build muscles. Candy is no good. Thanks in advance for your support!
