  1. Setting a consistent sleep cycle is hands down my biggest kryptonite.
  2. Couldn't agree more about concentrating on diet first, and then staying consistent in your exercise. Eventually then you can get more specific and intense with the minutia. Baby steps! Good luck!
  3. If you can swing the $$$, the Rogue Fitness pull up systems are pretty bombproof. I think it's around $150. The most important part of any pull up system is to make sure it's correctly and securely anchored. Good Luck! JB
  4. It's important to understand that every step, even if you change it later- is a step in the right direction. I started with the typical eat turkey sandwiches on whole wheat and Greek yogurt as a snack type diet when I was first trying to lose the epic beer belly I had squired. It worked for a while, at which point I did some more research decided to try out a more primal/Paleo type of diet and I continued to lose. Switching from whole-wheat to primal / gluten free (no grains) doesn't mean that it was a mistake to start with the whole wheat in the beginning. It just means my body and choices evolved as I've gotten more educated. The trick is to always keep moving forward and not let your setbacks or the giant amount of choices that you have drown you in doubt. Just keep truckin' JB KEEP posting too! The forums are a serious help to everyone!
  5. I'd stick with body fat over BMI - that being said, I'd choose how you feel and how your clothes fit as the ultimate measure.
  6. While its not the easiest thing to hear, (or comply with) - the lower you get, the harder it is, and the more your diet needs to be super CLEAN. Which, I know is the most annoying part. Keep at it!!! JB
  7. I think it's a bit of personal preference. While you don't want to be bringing the plague to they gym, for smaller stuff, I've read that exercise (scaled to your ability and current health level obviously) can release endorphins that can help you get better! You will had arguments from both sides, so do what you feel comfortable with. Just don't let being "sick" become an excuse to not hit the gym. JB
  8. I'm in! Blog Update with Goals forthcoming asap!
  9. It's an amazing non diary dessert option.
  10. I'm starting a group class at a crossfit box in Toronto this Sunday. The only way the wife and I could've afforded it was to get a group of our friends together to do a 12 week boot camp style version of it so that's why I say "class". But it's basically crossfit on Sundays for 12 weeks. Im super excited. I'll let everyone know how my experiences stack up comparatively.
  11. Chop up a head of cauliflower, simmer in organic or homemade chicken stock for a bit, maybe add a little chopped garlic, and s&p to taste. Drain, then pulse in a processor or blender. Instantly amazing "mashed potatoes".
  12. Magners is actually supposed to be over ice! Crispin is quite good out of CA. Strongbow is just the gold standard, hands down. In terms of ciders though, the sugar content is off the chart, comparatively so be warned! As a former bartender this thread makes me happy
