  1. Yeah, geez, I've caught a mild cold from a colleague and it really sucks. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  2. Hmm, perhaps. We'll see how I go. I did feel surprisingly awesome after having run/walked for half an hour, but it was really boring during, even with ZR. Meant to do another run yesterday, but I was feeling crappy so no dice... but tomorrow I'm doing a 5k walk for charity so maybe I'll run for a bit of that. I'm doing quite well at my other goals, though: getting a solid 7, 8 hours of sleep each night and I haven't stepped into a lift at work all week. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  3. I'm in! I've had Zombies, Run! for ages but kind of, uh, never really stuck with it ... I think I got to mission 7 after one and a half years ... so for this challenge I've just started Zombies 5k and my goal is to make it to the end. Hi.
  4. Man, I always have it harder with the calories than the exercise - good on you!
  5. I am, first time here to. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  6. Just started for reals today! I made an abortive attempt to start early (i.e. Sunday...) but, uh, that didn't work out, and I was feeling a bit terrible on Monday. So I started today, did a ZR 5k run over lunch, and it went well! Not too hard, still had some energy left after to jog a little... I think I will skip to week 2, but we'll see. I've also been doing really well with using the stairs at work, but not so well on the getting enough sleep thing. Baby steps... Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  7. Ooh... fantastic idea with the bar graphs, I'm going to steal it if you don't mind.
  8. I'm excited. edit: ... er, not to go our separate ways because that IS a little depressing, but to be here doing my first challenge with you guys. Gotta live in the moment!
  9. Here we go then: My main quest is to run my first 5k. This is gonna be hard. I like running, but I'm a sprinter by nature and I have asthma, and I ... kind of hate long-distance anything, frankly, I find it boring. But I've got my hands on Zombies 5k, I've got a good pair of shoes and live next to a park, let's do it! So ... here's how I'm going to do this: Go for a run 3 times a week, no exceptions. Get a solid 7-8 hours of sleep every night. Stop using the lifts at work - take the stairs! This should be perfectly doable as I've got an okay level of cardiovascular fitness already - I just get bored easily. Maybe zombies will fix this.
  10. Good point - it's a story that happens to involve running, not a running bootcamp that happens to come with a voice in your ear. I'll start out with the first one and see how I go.
  11. I just got this! I can already walk 30 seconds / jog 30, so I was thinking of skipping straight to week 3, or at least starting at the end of week 2. Is this a good or bad idea? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  12. That would make sense - I'll keep an eye out, thanks! Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  13. What about eggs? Eggs are cheap (as long as you're not picky about organic/free-range and that sort of thing - all of that is great for the chickens, not so great for the poor student) and you can eat one or two a day to supplement your protein intake. They're not very filling, but they would help with your protein intake. p.s. rice is perfectly safe to reheat so long as you eat it the next day. If you need to make it last longer (like if you're cooking it up in large batches), freeze it in portion-sized packs and bring frozen rice with you to school. By lunchtime it will be cold and mostly defrosted, and a microwave will take care of the rest.
  14. Yeah, I haven't decided on my goals yet. I tend to set ridiculously high goals, then get discouraged when I can't meet them, and then discouragement snowballs... I just downloaded Zombies 5k so one of my goals will definitely be to stick to that program (if not finish - it's an 8-week course, but from the looks of it the first two weeks should be a breeze). Still thinking about what else I should do, I don't want to bite off more than I can chew for my first challenge.
  15. Is the signup sheet current? I'm so gonna do this except the link says September...?
