  1. So I'm still working my shit out. I got into a Fallout Tactics bender that occupied most of my mornings last week, but I did complete said morning routine later at noon on 3 days, and those 3 days felt good. I was able to do 2 Q&D sessions and a rowing workout. Not much news. Still lazy. Still haven't gone back to the CF box to pick up my last check (mostly from shame). No forward progress in my online training. Not much new IG content. I did answer a bunch of Questions on Quora Digest. I should probably start writing again.
  2. Technically, yes. I get to clown around a lot of people. But this is also referred to in jiu-jitsu as 'sandbagging'. Jiu-jitsu guys are kind of the meatheads of the martial arts community, and not exerting yourself is still frowned upon in a lot of circles. Haha
  3. I do both. I find the online platform is definitely a lot more challenging.
  4. Yeah, apparently Charity Witt has been posting a lot of photos lately, and I've been liking way too much, too frequently. Haha So yeah, the progress photos are easy enough. The water is all set up with my labeled gallon jug. 10 pages, is doable. The workouts need to be scheduled. I guess I'm going to have to build habits to be able to build up to 75Hard. It's not the way it's supposed to be done, but I'm a weak-willed individual at the moment, and I need to work on that one step at a time. I'm thinking establishing a morning and evening routine might help, concentrating with the morning one in particular first, when my willpower is fresh. I'm thinking 5 easy tasks to start the day with an early win: > weigh-in and progress photo > protein shake and meds > 45-min workout > feed the dogs > shower and teeth If I get this down, I'll only have to worry about one more workout for the day.
  5. My [limited] early experience with Aikido I think influenced my overall jiu-jitsu philosophy. Very rarely perform techniques athletically, and am always looking for that rotational path, rather than meeting force-on-force.
  6. I've been trying to start, but have re-started like 10 times already. Haha. I think it's the 2-a-days that are killing me. (Also I've been shadowbanned on the Instagrams, so I've been off for a while. Yeah, I guess I have to pay more attention to it. I think the doc's trying to rule stuff out, and that's why there's still no official diagnosis (I think). The wife seems to be able to handle it well, though I don't know how long she can last. Multiple resources have emphasized the importance of a routine, and that's what I'm trying to establish with this. Right now the biggest thing is getting over this damn rib injury. It's just making everything super inconvenient.
  7. So retrospectively, the 129 hours I put into Fallout 3 seems like a hyperfocused manic episode. I also happened to be irritable in the home, yet surprisingly social outside. Goals kept jumping from one thing to the next, and here I am believing I was going to achieve all of them, but failing to follow-through on any. Spending seemed impulsive, though I'm yet to objectively track it. Most of all, I remember sleeping much less than usual, which kind of worried me but also was very convenient. Textbook mania, which lasted between 2-3 weeks. Of course, ups are followed by downs. I slept like 12 hours a day the past few days, mostly on the couch. Couldn't do anything, didn't want to do anything. I wasn't able to wake up in time and was let go of my CrossFit gig. I totally understand; I pride myself in being reliable, and when that's gone my value as a coach and as a person severely decreases. Anyway, I'm taking this opportunity to get my shit in order and work on getting control of my life. 75HARD: A 75-Day Tactical Guide to Winning the War With Yourself, with Andy Frisella - MFCEO290 I'm declaring this right now here so I can be accountable. Me just dabbling won't cut it--I'm giving myself an excuse to fail.
  8. Thanks @sarakingdom! With my mind wandering all over the place once again, I can always count on you to kick me back on track. Time to get my shit together. #BattleLog time.
  9. Ah, for now I shall create a basic movement screen for exercises that don't cause pain. Then I'll look at what I can do and work on those. Horizontal Push - scap protract push-up, push-up, dip, planche Horizontal Pull - scap retract row, rows, front lever Vertical Push - headstand, shoulderstand, handstand, handstand push-up Vertical Pull - hang, bent arm hang, pull-up Hinge - deadlift, swing Squat - goblet squat, front squat, back squat Pike - v-up, hanging leg raise Hollow - hollow hold, hollow rock Carry - farmer, suitcase, rack, waiter, 90
  10. Don't know. Haha. Probably a Charisma quest?
  11. No idea. Just prepping for an evac as usual. Sucks too, the one time I decice to jump into jiu-jitsu I get my ribs crushed. Apparently from what I hear from others this takes quite a while to recover from. Shit.
  12. I might have to update this to a gaming quest so I can get it over with. I'm less likely to waste time once I finish. Been quite sucky with the workouts and the reading. Ran late a few times. Still, I got the lawn done, loaded the laundry, am about to work out, then conduct some personal hygiene. Today's set up for a win as long as I don't stumble.
  13. I'll try to do better this week. Last week was a disaster. Primarily because I've accumulated 95 hours of Fallout 3. That's 64 hours in 10 days. Jesus. I'm about done with it though, so I'll probably be more productive. WEEK 4 : Main Quest > Come in early 15 min. 2/9 (misses) Side Quests > shower 0/4 > teeth 0/4 > dishes 0/2 > laundry 1/2 > 20 min general cleaning 0/2 > Read 10 pages 0/7 > work out 0/7
  14. Honestly I wouldn't worry about "feeling" muscles for now. Find a good program. Can you get into the positions required for the exercises (yes/no)? Can you control the transition between the positions? Follow the program. Repeat until strong.
  15. Same. Back when it was Sasuke everyone was telling me to send an audition video, but I never got around to it for some reason. Now it's becoming a lot more specialized and those obstacles are getting way too crazy.
  16. I did the cardio. 2k on the Rower. Took me 9:01, which I guess is terrible. No surprise. The settlers appear to be self-sufficient. I'm going to take attendance one step further. WEEK 3 : Main Quest > Come in early 15 min. 7/10 Side Quests > shower 1/4 > teeth 2/4 > dishes 1/2 > laundry 0/2 > 20 min general cleaning 0/2 > Read 10 pages 4/7 > work out 3/6
  17. Been picking up the kid from school, and I haven't noticed my gas tank. Ran out of gas in the middle of the street yesterday, and consequently was late for work. No Fallout today. Sadface. I have apparently accumulated 31 hours so far. I was able to do some cleaning though, and also load the laundry and the dishes. Cardio penalty today to follow.
  18. Played a little bit lot of Fallout 3. I'm allowing myself to enjoy it so I avoid being late. (Did the cardio, begrudgingly, as well on Tuesday.) I was able to get myself to jiu-jitsu after a long-assed time off. Doesn't seem like I've lost much, so that''s good. Did some bills today. Going to play more Fallout, then put a load of laundry and dishes before heading to work.
  19. Quite annoying, honestly. But the punishment is good for me. It’s like medicine—I just have to take it. Pretty good. I get to Snatch and stop before my hands tear up. I’ve been using it on my classes. The power types really enjoy it. The grinders, I kind of have to keep entertained. But right now I’m pretty comfortable with my standing that I don’t feel as much of a need to prove myself to people. (It’s still there though. Haha)
  20. One thing at a time. Which brings me to yesterday's conundrum. I got stuck in traffic for two hours picking-up my kid in school, I had to piss in a potato chip bag. This made me late for work; an earlier shift I agreed to take on that day because we're short-staffed. Totally not my fault. But late is late, and I'm holding myself accountable. Cardio it is...
  21. Gotcha! So even more focused attention to each. Great idea. I’m thinking the tardiness is the important part right now, so I’ll address that. Late to work = no games.
  22. Got some two 8-minute Q&D sessions done. Finally showered and brushed my teeth on Saturday. Finished the CF course today and realized I haven't been sore in a while. Test felt easy, so hopefully it's a pass. They said they'll email within 7 or so business days. *Yes, that is me, again, in non-standard footwear, because #ChaoticNeutral, right after completing the WOD in flip flops (as opposed to 2014's combat boots). Like, list everything I have to do for the month? ======================================================================================================== So I'm going to try to do better this week. Shower and brush my teeth more often than not, and start rolling the dice on Q&D. The dishes and laundry will be drastically decreased since school is starting, so I'll keep it at 2 a week. Wife is fasting so all I have to do is ensure there's readily-available food for the afternoon and caffeine for the day. The tardiness is getting out of control. I'm going to have to get to work extra early and start doing a module of Duolingo while waiting or something. I've also been playing Fallout 3 again, so I'm putting an hour cap on my daily playtime, because I'm a junkie. WEEK 2 (UPDATED) : Main Quest > don't be late (10 times) 2/10 > feed the settlers (7 times) *perk incentive: late day = no games, cleaning instead (or perhaps cardio?) Side Quests > shower (4 times) > teeth (4 times) > Q&D (2 times) > dishes (2 times) 1/2 > laundry (2 times) 1/2 > 20 min general cleaning (2 times) 1/2
