I grew up on Seven Nations, whom I love. I've seen them about 10 times - they give a GREAT live show. Enter the Haggis is pretty good - they can be a silly band too, but have a solid piper. Tempest, the Killdares, and Gaelic Storm are all great places to begin. Natalie McMaster and tara Linhardt are great folk-fiddlers. They all have varying levels of rock v folk influences. Enter the Haggis is my all time favorite! It's just exactly what does it for me! I also grew up on Seven Nations (when they were Clan Na Gael) but now McLeod is in the band Rathkelthair, which isn't as good. I've seen ETH live 7 times now, and I've seen Gaelic Storm twice.

I haven't seen ETH or Gaelic Storm - I always seem to be out of town when they're playing. My family is REALLY Scottish (I was a Highland Dancer as a kid), so there was lots of Seven Nations, Dougie McClean, Pipe & Drum bands, etc in my house. Got into the Celtic rock fusion stuff in high school & college. Glad to see others who like this kind of stuff!
