  1. Dude. DUDE! Your prep and attention to detail is amazing! Seriously, I feel like a blithering idiot with my prep work now. Not even kidding. And I recognize some of those magic items! Yay!
  2. You're thinking way too much into this man. Cn3wton said "I've never run D&D before" to which I replied "so what was our last game?" It was a silly little joke.
  3. Time for another update y'all! 1. I had my 3rd session with the trainer yesterday, and she kicked my ass. I think we've got the knee issue just about figured out. It seems two things are to blame: I was not engaging my glutes properly, and my flexibility is pretty terrible. Which surprised me, since I have the mobility to squat ATG. In any case, I got to 5 reps at 185 with no pain, so that's good! And, I still get the feeling that she's kinda semi-flirting with me. Though that's probably just me projecting. Who knows. I sure as hell don't. At any rate, the real win here is the knee feeling better. 2. D&D! So Saturday was D&D DAY for me. I woke up around 730, started rolling dice on the game I run by 9am, finished that up around 130, went to improv until 415, then came home and played my Lycan character from 6p to about 1030p. Overall, it was a really good day, but also surprisingly tiring. Here's a little write up for how it went. This is in the hardcover Storm King's Thunder adventure, though I'm taking some artistic license and changing a few things. The players were in Mirabar, where they met their new Cleric (the previous player decided to back out), and bought some armor. They'd captured a bad guy named The Weevil in the previous session, and through some good rolls and creative use of spells, the groups Warlock managed to get some solid info out of him. Turns out (I changed this part of the book) the Weevil was supplying evil frost giants with information on the Eye of the All-Father, which was somewhere my players had known they would need to go. This led to them seeking out the place and teaming up with a GOOD frost giant named Harshnag (he's a part of the book, and has some history with the official books). So Harshnag leads them to the Eye, where they encounter the two evil frost giants just inside the main gate. Combat ensues, and two of the four players end up taking dirt naps (making death saves). They managed to kill the evil giants, and their Goblin NPC companion Bedo got the HDYWTDT kill against the last giant, which was pretty awesome. So they get into the next room, figure out some puzzles, and go into the southern most room which has a giant axe that acts as a key for the puzzles in it. Oh, and the room also have a full grown Remorhaz in it. So the Remorhaz waits until they're all past it and pops out of the ground to attack. The Warlock rolls really well on his initiative and decides to cast Evard's Black Tentacles on it. The Remorhaz failed its saving throw, and is not restrained, and it has to spend ITS ACTION to make an ability CHECK to get out of the tentacles. For those of you who don't play 5e, that is ridiculously powerful for a spell. So basically a party of 4 players, a crappy goblin NPC and a giant NPC (whom the book specifically says he holds back in combat to not outshine the players) managed to take down a CR11 monster with almost no damage taken by the group. At level SEVEN. That was pretty sweet. So on to the next room, where they figure out the puzzle, talk to the All-Father, and get the quest to prove their Maug (honor): slay the White Dragon plaguing the area. That's where we stopped, and they'll almost certainly fight the dragon during our next session. I'm really excited about it!!
  4. Woot! Go puck! That's awesome that he's taking the initiative. (pun absolutely intended!) I'm sure you're running a great game! Speaking of, I need to write up about the game I ran on Saturday too. Have your player read the story of Sir Peter Fairgrave. One of the best Lawful Good Paladin stories I've ever read. Puck, you'd love the story too. And while I'm at it, tagging @cn3wton @Kyellan @Laghail @DarK_RaideR because it's a really fun little story. That being said, Rhia, I've found it easier to just drop the alignment mechanic altogether. I tell my players to "play their character, not their alignment". It's worked well so far.
  5. Sounds like you have a good plan in place. And finding the hack to make it feel like a solid reward in MFP is a great idea.
  6. It was. But Pathfinder is still D&D, which is what I was going for. Probably it was only funny in my head.
  7. Not to mention, aggressive melee rogue problems. haha.
  8. Ohhhhh! Show me show me!! Sorry you're not feeling well. I think the super-exertion probably didn't do you any favors, for sure. Just take it easy.
  9. So what was our last game? If we're going to switch systems, I'd very much prefer to switch to 5th Edition, though I'm not against using any other system.
  10. Indeed it was! I mean, making death saves wasn't awesome, but everything else went well! Come to think of it, have we had a game yet where Lykos didn't get dropped to zero hit points?
  11. Sweet! Glad you're getting your groove back
  12. That's awesome! You are a badass. Sorry you're not feeling well now, though. Take your time and get some rest.
  13. WOOT WOOT!! Way to go! This is a much bigger achievement than the one above, I think. Recognizing that something is dangerous and taking steps to counteract it is huge! Well done Gypsy!
  14. QFT. Sorry you missed the qualifier, but a pair of PR's is fantastic!
  15. Thanks! We went to see Wonder Woman together yesterday, which went well, for the most part. I'm just going to take it slow and see where things lead. I'm not too worried. As for the sights, I will talk about it, but not quite yet. Yea. IDK. It felt like torture. But I've also never really foam rolled anything else either, so I don't have anything to compare to.
  16. That is freaking awesome!! Way to go Puck! That's some serious confidence right there. Also, I want that shirt! Generally speaking, this is true. Which actually makes you even more of a badass in their eyes since you went and talked to them instead of just blowing them off.
  17. o_O I'm pretty sure a 1000 cal deficit is never the right answer. lol. Eat moar FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!
  18. Haha. If only! I would love to make this happen, but it just ain't in the cards.
  19. Yup. All of this. Every. Single. Freakin. Word. Read it again. I'll wait. Done? Good. Because Rhia is right.
  20. Update time y’all! I’m really bad about updating my thread, apparently. I keep saying that needs to be a goal, but whatever. Anyway, this week has been pretty good and crazy and stuff. So in no particular order, here’s what’s going on in the land of Oramac. 1. I got a new set of 45 degree offset iron sights in! I’m not going to go into too much detail here, but this is a big step for me. I’m headed to the range to sight them in after work today, and begin torture testing them after that. I should have another set showing up either today or Monday too. 2. I went on a pseudo-date last night. It was with one of the girls in my improv class. I’d tried to arrange a get together for all the people in my class to go to one of the shows, but she’s the only one that showed up, whether by design or choice, I don’t know. In any case, it was a lot of fun. We agreed it would be cool to get together again, potentially outside of the improv shop. The downside is, I’m about 98% sure she’s of a very different political view than me, which probably wouldn’t work long term. 3. I had my second session with the trainer last night, immediately before the not-a-date date above. The session went really well, I think. We’re still kinda figuring out what the best course of action for me is. We started out with foam rolling my calves, which really fucking hurt. Apparently this is normal, and I have tight muscles, pretty much everywhere. Moved to squats for a bit, did some glute tests and glute bridges. We discovered here that apparently my quads are overpowering the rest of my leg, which is bad. And also contributing to my knee issues and the lack of glute activation through squats. Moved on to some OHP and Push Press next, which was good. Nothing too big to say about that. The last thing was stretching. Apparently, I’m an anomaly. I’m super-not-flexible, but still have the mobility to go ATG on squats. She theorized this is because my legs are so damn long, which I think makes sense. I can sit in a catcher squat with no pain, but a bodyweight squat hurts a bit. It makes no sense. I think I managed to keep the flirting to a minimum too, which is nice. At least, I think I did. The flip side of that is, I actually kinda get the feeling she’s interested in me. Though it’s tough to tell, since part of her job is complimenting and encouraging her clients. IDK. I’m horrible at telling the difference. Anyway, that’s my week so far. Hope y’all are having a great Friday!
  21. I'm happy for you! Sounds like life is turning towards the better, which is awesome. The free food at work thing is tough, but it sounds like you at least have it in mind. You're doing great man!
  22. Small progress.........is still progress! Don't sweat it! It'll happen. And long term it's probably better to happen slowly, even if it sucks in the moment.
