  1. Wow! Exercising six times a week is pretty intense. Remember to give muscle groups their necessary break to rebuild before working them again. You sound like this is not your first time training though so good luck on your goals.
  2. I may have trouble with being happy but not with being thankful.

You'd never know it by your profile Pic. You look like you are happy often...and it suits you ;-)

Congratulations on the good work. Keep up the effort and get up to make that healthy breakfast! Really good work on the water and exercise routine. Keep it up!
  4. You like how I talk about my Badonkadonk? You may enjoy some other quirky things that are said down here. For instance, I live in one of the only places in the United States that it is socially acceptable to post signs that read "Fat females for sale" on a public highway. When my best friend came home after moving away she confessed to missing those signs. Bonus points if you know what those mean. Sounds like the food is about the only thing giving you trouble. Bionic Beefcake's ideas sound like good ones to give a try. Remember that foods that are good for you can also be delicious too. You don't have to starve munching on salads to be healthy. Sometimes the baked eggplant with marinara sauce can be both delicious and healthy. If you are out eating, sometimes getting a steak is not so bad. When I go to a steakhouse my mom and I split a steak dinner, each get a salad, chop up our steak to put in said salad and eat the steamed veggies as our other side. Sometimes it takes a bit more creativity or an adventurous palate to eat healthier but even if you eat the steak on top of your salad, it was still a healthier choice than the fried seafood platter. Life is too short to loathe eating out because you are either unsatisfied or knowingly putting unhealthy foods into your body. If you are struggling, stop looking at the food as a problem and see the potential. Eating at Ihop does not mean giving up those oddly not as good as they look seasonal pancakes, but getting to enjoy one of their amazing omlettes with a bowl of fresh juicy fruit. I am sorry if my advice is a bit against the streangent dieting rules but I love food too much to diet. I will not give up sweets because my baking from scratch is too good to miss out on. I live in one of the food capitals of the world. Food is an essential and enjoyable part of life. But I do realize that we should control our food intake, not the other way around. If you only get that amazing treat once every good while then that homemade goodness will be that much better. Let me tell you, knowing what good food is makes it so much easier to turn down the garbage. Who wants a cake from Walmart when a much better one will be made for Thanksgiving? Why eat a McDonald's burger when a home barbeque is coming up next Saturday? If you cannot give up the food, make it a real treat and look for new ways to eat it. Trust me, a steak salad is still steak. Just give up that potato and opt for a smaller piece of meat. No one needs to be eating a sixteen ounce steak!
  5. Hello fellow rebels! I'm almost a week into my quest and it is time for a little progress report. So here goes... Syco: 2/3 Depression: 1 Did I exercise three times this week for an hour each time? Yes I did. Before I started this challenge, I had already exercised on Monday (I had a late start). On Tuesday I jogged 2/3 miles before running through the beginner's strength work out once and doing a few other miscleaneous exercises. On Thursday I ran a mile and completed the beginner's workout circuit twice. The weight I used this week was 16 pounds. My sweet this week was a holiday coffee at Starbucks. I went out with a friend one day and we decided to indulge in some coffee before hanging out at the park. Not eating candy was HARD especially with Halloween candy still readily available in the living room. So where did Syco deviate? I did not sleep for eight hours each night. I have insomnia which could be caused by major depression or may be completely unrelated. When I started this challenge, I was taking a sleep aid but unfortunately the medicine gave minimal results and worsened my mood. So in lieu of me weeping during church, my mom suggested I stop taking the optional medicine until we can get in touch with my psychiatrist. So on Wednesday, I barely slept. Not sure if the cause was something I was doing wrong, my brother playing Ghosts online till three, or my depression. Whatever the reason, I missed one night's sleep. Since then, my hormones have worn me out enough to sleep each night but who knows what next week will bring? Tomorrow Syco's week one lift will be posted as soon as I get a chance to use the weights. Any guesses of what my my first week lift will be?
  6. Have you ever heard of military bearing? Think of the guards in England with those big black fuzzy hats who supposedly are not supposed to move a muscle. The trick was spending hours at attention while being drilled with questions that would be used at competition and needing to answer them without doing anything goofy. Well, not all of us have hours to train for meaningless stuff so I have a better idea. I would practice meditation, take a bit of time out of each day to specifically not move and stall thought. Look in the mirror while you talk on the phone to see exactly what you are doing so you can correct the habit. Write what you do down if you have to and remember the list each time you interact with others. The last thing is the worst but it will probably be the most helpful. Hang out with some good friends and tell them you wants to be perfectly still while you speak with one another no matter what is said to you. It will probably work best if you try to keep a straight face even while they try to make you laugh. Get them to correct you each time you move. It will take time but practice makes perfect. I hope this helps. It may sound weird but it would be worth it if it works.

I really hope you reach your goals. I know what it is like to be sick for a long while. Just remember not to over extend yourself again. It is okay to rest sometimes. If you feel like you are getting sick, slow down and eat some super foods packed with vitamins. Fruit and vegetables can work wonderfully together for a healthy immune system. Good luck.
  8. Aw. Good luck. I hope you will be dancing again soon. Make sure your ankle is rehabilitated before putting too much strain on it again though. I would hate to see you hurting yourself even worse. We will be rooting for you whilst you lurk!
  9. Hello and welcome to the promised land. I can relate to being addicted to chocolate. I am addicted to chocolate. Sometimes quitting cold turkey can lead to an even worse collapse for people like me who eventually break down and go to town killing chocolate bunnies left and right like hunting season just started. Rabbit season! I do not know how bad you got it but maybe limiting yourself to one serving sized sweet a week like I am might lead to less of a mess later down the road. If you have the will power to quit cold turkey feel free to disregard all of that haha. The beginners workout is great because you do not need to leave your house (for us shy nerds on here). Stretching can be tricky. Never over stretch cool muscles. Usually it is best to stretch after your workout when the muscles are warmed up and ready. I would say good stretching goals would be touching your toes when sitting or standing. Stretch to your sides when standing. Cross your legs while standing and stretch towards your toes. Don't forget to reverse directions on that one and do the other side too. Heheh. The lunge stretch is good. Do a stationary lunge (in the beginners work out) and kind of push your body forward without moving your feet. You should feel some stretching going on in your legs. I am working on my splits and back bends currently but I understand if that is too girly for you. I really hope you find your workout soon so you can get started. Remember to keep your inspiration in mind to help get you through the hard parts. Good luck with your quest. If you really want to fit in, don't forget to edit your profile, pick a guild, and add your fitness stats (I still have no idea how these are determined) to your signature.
  10. Please do not go licking petri dishes or the human equivalent to lose weight. The mono is he reason I lost whatever muscle I did have in the first place. Haha. I actually think what you are doing is more inspirational. I am not overweight now but I can feel the difference in body from being out of shape. The pain people go through when they are bigger is this terrible burden. I only have a bit of a belly and the bottom of a good ol' Big Easy girl but those few extra pounds really slow me down. People like you, my parents, and my brother who are overweight and can actually get up the strength to do something about it are so admirable to me. I never want to become overweight unless if I one day get pregnant because I am not sure I would be strong enough to get back onto the over side of the scale on my own. You working out is incredible to me. Did you make up you actual training schedule yet? You should post it on here so it is that much more official.
  11. Good luck on the TEAS V. I took the... What was it called? The Hessy? A couple of years ago. It was not so bad. If you are looking for confidence, you should check out the confidence post as well.
  12. My goodness, the cosplay for your avatar looks amazing. I can only imagine how great you will look for your muscle one. You make me want to lose inches and get toned to cosplay Ruby from Dark Cloud. Good luck.
  13. Make sure you eat well too. I would be so proud to have a parent like you. In fact, I am proud of my parents too. Do not forget to stretch so you do not ache too bad from working those muscles. I will be cheering for you to reach your goal. It makes me want to out and run too. Good thing tomorrow is one of my running mornings. I love the cool weather. Good luck.
  14. I went from 125 to 110 in a month when I got mononucleosis. I would not recommend it. But I did not really have much weight I could spare at that time. I was really healthy. I fit in a thirty two men's bathing suit but I do have rather wide hips... Still. You have to post your size on the other side cause that means you made it! ^.^
  15. Hi there. I'm glad you decided to post. It means you are out here with the rest of us in the spot light. Don't freak though, there is a big crowd. I don't know what soft drinks you drink but I was addicted to Coca Cola until I found out it could double as a chrome cleaner. If it does that to car bumpers, it could probably do quite a bit of damage to my body. Maybe you could try finding the grossest facts about the soft drinks you drink and keep them in mind every time you get a craving as well as quoting your motto. Acid fart funny juice. Teehed. I am working on my finger strength too but my exercise was prompted by my mom. She makes me massage her back every few nights so my fingers are getting quite the workout. I've good news though! You don't sound nearly as silly as I do. Good luck. Stick to it. Be sure to keep your inspiration in mind. It makes the job easier.
  16. Do not get discouraged if the scale slows down in its descent after a couple of weeks. Muscle weighs more than fat. Good luck!
  17. Hey there Softsoul. Those are some pretty great goals. It is really admirable how precise you are about all of this. I just wanted to remind you not to gauge too much progress on the scale. You only have a few pounds to lose before you are peak weight for your height. In a couple of months or less the only way to monitor your fat loss will be through inches. You seem very smart about the measuring already but just remember that the scale weighs fat, muscle, and everything else that makes you up. Great job with outlining your challenge. Good luck.
  18. Your English was more than understandable. I believe you set up your quest correctly. Best wishes for you on your quest. I would probably add in some dietary goals as well if you are trying to lose inches. Good luck.
  19. Good luck and stick with it. We know you can do it! Even if you do not reach the other side in six weeks, keep at it. Be sure to post what that size is too. That could be the end credits to a great game. Heheh.
  20. I used to struggle with professionalism as well. I used to fidget but years of JROTC broke that habit. I found that practicing being still and keeping a straight face helped me avoid odd gestures and nervous leg jiggling when it mattered. I also have trouble shutting up and saying inappropriate things. I find focusing on one thing at a time helped me with that. If I can keep myself focused on the conversation I normally do not dwell on whether I can replicate the painting on the wall or what those stains are on that man's fingers. I wish you the best of luck with your quest. I hope you find the skills you need to be professional.
  21. Thank you. It is always good to remember to use your powers for good.
  22. Feeling like a stooge for double posting.

  23. First Nerd Fitness challenge: My main quest is to lift one hundred and fifty pounds. Goals to accomplish said quest are as follows... 1. Sleep at least eight hours a night. 2. Work out three times a week for an hour. 3. Reduce sweet intake to once a week. My life quest is to apply for nursing school. I will accomplish this quest so I can rescue my grandfather when he cannot support himself.

  25. height:5'4" / weight:140 / age:21 / My experience level in strength training is very limited. I do not know how to use much gym equipment but I do have experience in training by running, sit ups, push ups, various stretches, and some military movements. I was in JROTC in high school and stayed in rather good shape. I used to swim and dance as well when I was a kid. Right now I can do fifteen push ups but they are not quick or on cadence.
