  1. Thank you! It did actually, I blinked and then it was done. Now I just need to do rehab stuff to not have so much scar tissue develop
  2. Hello everyone! My name is Pyro and I'm respawning after not being on here for maybe like five years or so...maybe even longer. It's been a bit. Anyway I came back because I tore all my ligaments and my meniscus back in November and I'm about a week post surgery! It's a long story of how that happened, but I do remember having a lot of fun back in the day, trying to accomplish my fitness goals and I've decided that this is the best place for me to take progress of my journey back to walking again. Lots of trepidation because I have no quad strength anymore but I'm here to learn, kill my goals and hopefully recover enough to go back to school in person. Hopefully I'll be able to meet some awesome people and find some accountability buddies to help me out as well and just remember how fun it is to accomplish your goals alongside others. Thanks for reading and I can't wait to get started!
  3. Wow I'm super late to this game on the account of me having to use a public computer for awhile, but I'll definitely jump in with a few drawings. Midterms are coming up so I'm a little busy with studying. However there is no time like the present
  4. I've become really obsessed with the video game Destiny, especially since I've caught up to my friends and can hold my own now. So I'm going to try this narrative thing this summer based on: I'm still working on the narrative portion but on to the workout! Main Quest To be the best guardian ever! (and to master parkour) Fitness Quest Speed of a Hunter: Hunters are known to be fast so I'm continuing from my last challenge to run every other day Strength of a Titan: Known for their bulky armor and the strength they posses, I'll be doing my body weight workouts on my off days. Level Up Life Knowledge of a Warlock Warlocks are known for their ability to wield magic and have learned by studying endlessly so these are the two "skills" I'll be working on: At least 2 hours of calculus problems a day. (need to pass my calc 2 class next semester) Draw once a week Diet Quest Honestly I'm not sure guardians need to eat because they came back from being dead so....who knows? However in the real world, I definitely need to eat, so for this quest, I need to work on two things: Eat a salad a day. (it worked for me last challenge so I'm continuing on) Drink at least 4 liters of water. (I haven't drunk enough lately, so when I started running, I always felt funny after) In addition to my work out, hopefully my narrative will help my writing get better because lord knows I'm terrible at telling stories. Grading Fitness: A - all required days C - Half of required days F - no days Diet A - all required days C - half of required days F - no days Level up Life A - at least two hours a day of studying on all required days C - Half of the days F - no days
  5. No classes this summer, but I'm definitely going to be working on my calculus again before the new semester.
  6. Final Week Update/ Challenge Wrap Up Diet Quest My family went shopping this week and I got to pick out a bunch of stuff that I can cook myself, so I ate an awesome salad every day and ate a lot better than last week. Granted, I did eat out when I went to work instead of bringing home lunch, but to be fair, those days were long days that I didn’t have the chance to stop by my house. Grade: A Fitness Quest 1. Completed the running like a boss! I hurt my ankle earlier in the week so it took me a little longer than usual to complete my route. I did drink again but it wasn’t excessive so it didn’t completely hinder my run. 2. I wouldn’t call it a complete workout, but I did more bodyweight exercises than I did last week. I think the workout called for 4 sets and I did about 2.5 sets because I was exhausted by the end of the day. Grade: A/B LUL 1. I pretty much studied as much as I did last week, but my finals are actually next week Monday so I have another week to study for. I “hid” my PS4 in my room so I’ll be able to study without the biggest distraction. I also might be heading over to my friend’s place to study there since she also has finals. Here’s to hoping it works out! 2. Didn’t get a chance to clean my room, but I went through some papers and cleaned my AC so I’ll give myself some points for that because my room is pretty much the way I want it to be. 3. Didn’t draw at all this week because I was slammed with work and school so that had to be put off to the side. Grade: B/B/F (but I was studying so….maybe I don’t have to count this week?) Final thoughts: Definitely still need to drink more water because although I wasn’t as dizzy as last week, it was still hard to concentrate when my body is just screaming at me to slow down and take a nap or something. I might change my route because my current one has some issues and it might be better if I just run down another street. I’ll update about this later. It’s a nice street to run on though I’m thinking of adding another diet goal to my quest. Nothing hard but I’ll be experimenting with it this week so I’ll have an idea of how my challenge is going to go. I’m nervous for my finals but I hope my brain decides to concentrate and retain the information I give it xD Challenge Wrap Up! Diet Quest Week 1: A Week 2: B Week 3: A Week 4: A Final Grade: A- I feel pretty proud of myself because usually in the final week, salad tastes gross but because I got to make my own in the last week, it saved my taste buds. Things to work on: Next quest, I need to add in a water goal because my water intake wasn’t enough to keep up with my running workout. I might also have to add like a one home cooked meal because eating out is fun, but it’s going against my plan to lose weight. Also less alcohol…(but my body can handle hangovers so well! And if I don’t get my drinking out now, I won’t be able to do that when I’m older). Fitness Quest Running/Bodyweight workout Week 1: A/B- Week 2: C/B Week 3: A/D Week 4: A/B Final Grade: B/C I did very well getting into a running routine. There were days where I didn’t want to wake up and just sleep in, but I went running anyway. Also I was happy that I was able to make up my missed days and not feel terrible about it. Things to work on: I need to work on my bodyweight exercises, but I know once summer hits and I finally clean my backyard, I’ll have room to do more things and not feel so trapped back there. Oh! I need to buy new clothes because I didn’t know using specific clothes could help out, like wearing shorts that I don’t need to pull up every ten steps. LUL Studying/cleaning room/drawing Week 1: A/A/A Week 2: D/B/C Week 3: C/A/D Week 4: B/B/F Final Grade: C+/B+/C I did really well my first week and kind of dwindled from there, but factoring the amount of work I had to do this past month, I did better than I expected. The studying could have gone better, but I’m happy I was able to put off my drawings for more important things. Next challenge is during summer so I’ll have more time to work on that. I may have been a little too hard on myself with the room cleaning because I only needed to clean a small part. I still did well though. Things I need to work on: I need to work on my study time. I’ll need to schedule study time instead of just winging it but list of things I need to do is a little overwhelming, so I’ll come back to it later. I’m gonna need to buy another calculator because mine decided to break halfway through the semester, so I’ve been bumming my friend’s calculator for now. Art wise, I’m going to start doing space painting again and throw some recreational drawing when I find time. I feel a lot better when I paint so in terms of stress reliving, I’ll stick with that. Post Challenge Thoughts: I did pretty great for my comeback challenge. There were some bumps in the road but I overcame them and know pretty much how I’m going to set up my next challenge. Accountability buddies are the best thing in the world and I don’t think I would have gotten through the challenge without them So shout out to those guys! I’m pretty stoked to keep my momentum going. It’s all uphill from here!
  7. Week 3 Update Diet Quest Okay technically, I did eat a salad every day. I did however also ate a ton of unhealthy food because that’s all I could find when it came to my meals for the day. I know next challenge, I’m going to have to be more specific because diet is a big factor when getting healthy. Grade: A (but is it really an A?) Fitness Quest 1. I ran every other day! Granted I wanted to throw up a few times because I was drinking the night before, but I’ve learned my lesson so it got better towards the week’s end. 2. Oh man I failed on this so hard. Mostly because I was still sore from the previous day’s run but I was also lazy and maybe did half a workout so I’ll give myself points for attempting to do it. Grade: A/D LUL 1. I did better this week at studying. Not much better, but definitely better than last week. The next week is finals so I better get an A on studying. It’s still difficult finding a place that has no distractions because my school cut library hours for renovations and everywhere else was always loud. Eh I’ll take my chances with my room again. 2. I vacuumed my floor and re-organized my bookcase. I gave away a ton of books so I’m calling that a success. I’ll probably go through my clothes again because I got some new shirts and my drawers are getting full. 3. Still didn’t finish my other drawings I started, but I did start new ones. I’ll probably finish them up next challenge because with finals on the horizon, I’m gonna need all the time I have to study. Grade: C/A/D Post week thoughts: Still struggling with waking up early to run, but this week was weird because I don’t think my hydrating myself enough. Or maybe just not enough sleep. I’m not sure because I felt extremely nauseous and if it weren’t for the fact that I need money, I would have called off of work. I drink water every time I finish running, but throughout the rest of the day, I can’t seem to operate correctly. Eh I’ll see how the rest of next week goes.
  8. Week 2 Update!!! Diet Quest: Ate a salad every other day because I was starting to run out and had to spread it throughout the week. Grade: B (but it half wasn't my fault xD) Fitness Quest 1. Ugh running was incredibly difficult this week, I had to keep switching the days I was going to run and I ended up only running maybe two days. It was a struggle. 2. No bodyweight workout, but I did do 3 sets of wall sits and 3 sets of planks on the days I wasn't running so I;m gonna give myself some points there. Grade: C/B LUL 1. Oh I totally failed on studying, especially since the new Destiny update was launched on April 12 and I couldn't stop playing D: I maybe got 8 hours in of studying total this week. I did do my homework, but sadly that wasn't part of my challenge 2.Started going through my clothes, but not finished yet, thinking about going through my stuffed animals...but I don't want to give them away 3. Didn't get to finish any drawings. I'm working on a couple right now, but it's a little difficult when I have a lot of projects to do and homework to finish. Grade: D/B/C Post-week thoughts: My biggest struggle with running is just waking up early. It's difficult, especially someone who is trying to change their sleep schedule. My body is all off but I'm working through it. My other struggles include focusing on studying in my room because there are a ton of distractions. Normally, I study a lot better with someone else, but none of my friends have the same schedule as me, so it's difficult to coordinate. I'm not very good with studying alone. Another thing about this week was how terrible I am with my time management. I usually try to set up a schedule, but it always falls apart and I end up doing things different. Just something I need to work on I suppose.
  9. I forgot to do a weekly update, but better late than never! Week 1 Recap Diet Quest I have been eating a salad a say. I'm thankful my mom buys the mini salads so I don't have to physically make one everyday. Grade: A Fitness Quest 1: Been consistently running this week! It's such a pain to wake up early in the morning and my body is definitely letting me know how it feels, but I'm getting through it. 2: I technically did do a body weight work out every other day, but I cut the workout in half because I got tired. Grade: A/B- LUL 1. I never realized how distracted I become because finding two hours to study everyday is a lot harder than I thought. I barely made it this week, so I have to really adjust my schedule around and see if I can take a nap earlier, cause I'm usually tired by the time I make it home. 2: I started cleaning out my desk, but it's a struggle. 3: I have drawn a few pictures! I'll upload them once the challenge is over because I think one nice post about it will look better. Grade: A/A/A It's been a good week in experimenting with a new schedule, Definitely need to do some switching around with my schedule and find ways to not be so distracted while trying to study. It always comes down to scheduling and man does that suck. Oh wells, I still have 3 weeks left.
  10. 4/9/16 I ran this morning! I woke up a little late, but I still made it to Waikiki within my time limit. I conked out pretty hard before having to do school stuff. I didn't get much done because my mentors decided to change the design of the project I'm working on, so I gave up for awhile and took a nap when I got home. I did get to celebrate my friend's birthday tonight, and I had such a great time. It was the first in a long time, and I felt like nothing could stop me. As this was happening, I've realized that relationships are not needed at this moment in my life. Although it would be nice to have someone to talk to every once in awhile. It's probably a good idea that I'm not in one. It's tough when you're alone for so long, but I know that there is light at the end of the tunnel, and everything will be alright.
  11. 4/8/16 My stress levels are so high, I'm thankful I'm actually exercising because with all the running, it's the only thing keeping me from blowing up. I have eaten a salad and I have studied today so those two were taken care of. I worked on some bodyweight exercises, but I stopped mid way through my workout because I was ready to pass out. Still scared/ stressed about passing Calc 2. I'm mostly afraid it'll be a repeat of Calc 1 and that semi-traumatized me about failing at college and it's not fun. I'll see how the weekend goes and if I can get all my projects done, I'll be able to go to the beach and relax.
  12. Ah geez lucky! In engineering, you're constantly doing group group projects. Even in my current job at a space company, I'm still doing group projects. If I could live the rest of my life with minimal group work, I would be perfectly fine. The good thing about this project though is that the guy who literally just sat in our meetings and never contributed, finally owned up to it and wants to opt out. He still wants to get paid, but my mentor said if he quits right now, he won't get paid. I'm a little biased because I've been trying to get him to contribute and all he does is complain so I'm not that upset. In other news, I'm in the middle of studying Calc 2 while I'm writing this, and I'm pretty stressed. I just desperately want to relax and go to the beach but I have so many projects due and wow I didn't think it was gonna be this hard. Still going to be persevering through of course, mostly because I don't want to be in school forever. Here's to hoping I survive the weekend.
  13. That watercolor is amazing!!! I wish I had the talent to do that with my journals Okay so I tried to draw Pinky and the Brain, but it was rushed and ugh...but I filled my quota for the day so it counts. I'm gonna try to start sketching places around my town and see if they come out good. As always feedback is appreciated!
  14. 4/7/16 I'm quite proud of myself today. Although I got up late again and left ten minutes past my normal time, I shaved five minutes off of my run! I was a little out of breath but I'm working on that. I'm happy I was able to push myself just a little bit harder this time. Granted, I did take a different route towards the end to see if it was faster, but it's about the same. I did get to study today and I drew a picture! However, NF thinks my small picture is still too big so once I figure out how to make it work, I'll post the drawings I've been working on.
  15. Thanks!! It is going pretty well. I'm trying to keep track of it in my daily log, but I think the hardest part so far is just waking up in the morning to go running. Thank you RIght now I'm practicing my free hand drawing. I really want to work on perspective drawing but I feel like if I get comfortable with free hand, I can practice my other skills.
  16. Yup I feel the same way with my current group project. Sometimes it just comes down to people being really stupid, or in my case, having too many people in one group project. I'm currently learning to deal with it but man it's a challenge. Alright so today I studied for a couple of hours. I'm a little nervous because I'm trying to go through all sections we covered for the final and I think I'm stressing myself out too much because I couldn't solve a few problems. It could also be that the final is in four weeks and it's not as long as it seems. I just want to pass my Calc class because I don't want to take it over again
  17. I drew a squid!!..........or more like I attempted to draw a squid. Anyway I like squids a lot, and I have one tattooed on my shoulder/back. If I could, I would make the Krakken my pet. His name is Marvin and I think I did it justice However, I suck at shading. Ugh it's my worst quality that I need to work on but oh wells, in another challenge perhaps. Let me know what you think! feedback is always appreciated
  18. So how did it go? Actually how long do you have to wait until you get feedback about this? Also, I actually studied for my calc class today. I gotta say, I understood a lot of it. Now I just need to practice more and not stress out so much. My chem class on the other hand....I hate it with a passion
  19. 4/6/16 Another day conquered and I did pretty well. I did my bodyweight workout and took a long nap because I've been super tired lately. I think my sleep schedule is getting tuned to the fact that I now wake up at 5 am every other morning. I did eat my salad I ran out of spinach so I gotta grab some tomorrow. I am currently looking for a good salad recipe that covers everything I need. will update once I find it. I worked on some drawings. Proportion is not my strongest suit so some came out wonky, but I try. Once those are done, I'll post it here.
  20. 4/5/2016 Today was a very productive day! I got up late, so I started my run around 5:40 am, but I did reach the end around 6:20 which is the normal time for me to arrive at my destination. I don't think I got faster, but I think I was able to push myself a little harder this morning. Tomorrow, I start my bodyweight workout, so I'll start light and work my way up. I did also get to draw this: So I did a lot today! Good start so far, but I'll have to pace myself so I don't burn out toward the end of the challenge.
  21. Tell us about yourself and how you got into your primary creative craft(s) of choice. What keeps you motivated to keep drawing, writing, or crafting. If you want, please post the results of your endeavors, old or new as well. Hello everyone! My name is Pyrorazor and my main craft of choice are drawing and space painting. I've been drawing since I was a kid and started space painting in high school for an art project. I think I'm adequate enough to say that I'm good at both genres of art. I haven't done it in a while so this challenge, I'm hoping I can develop better skills. I usually end up drawing when I'm frustrated or something emotional happens to me, like when I develop a crush on someone or if someone is going through a hard time, but when I can, I like to sketch at the beach and see how detailed I can get of the buildings. Painting wise, I'm still a beginner and I'll probably start practicing once summer hits. It's my favorite type of art to do because you can't really mess up. and there is always room to turn a mess up into part of the design. I usually do these when someone asks me to do them, or when it's cold so that the paint won't dry as fast. On here I'll be posting mostly drawings because spray paint is expensive and I'm trying to save it up for summer xD Here is what I did for my first day of my NF challenge: Oswald is by far my favorite cartoon character ever, and I finally took a chance to draw him and I think I did him justice. Let me know what you think!
  22. Ooo I just looked at the site and it looks really cool!! It might be too late for me to try it out this semester since I'm almost done, but I'll definitely try it in the fall!
  23. Everytime I come back here, it feels like it's been 100 years. I'm constantly blowing the dust off this thing and man, I'm getting really tired of it. I wonder if making videos helps.... ANYWAY, I'm gonna track my daily progress and see how this goes. It's going to be tough because I'm not going to be held accountable for updating this blog, and usually when that happens, I'll forget about it. Luckily, not everyone reads this, so I can post all the weird crap on here and still be safe-ish. It is the internet after all, and on the internet, nothing is really secret. So far in my challenge, it's going good. Running is killing me but I'm able to do at least 20 squats in one rep. So progress I did also get to draw some things today and I'll post it once I upload all my pictures onto my computer. Here's to getting back into shape and to getting back into the NF community!
  24. Welp I have a calc 2 class I'm probably not going pass, but who said to never finish strong? I currently have two hours of studying to do everyday, which is the bare minimum. The only way I'm counting it as "studying" is if I have at least one section of problems done. However I know that since no one is actually keeping me in check, I can get by with about one hour of studying because I have no motivation at all, but I'm hoping that reading all the posts on the forum will help me keep myself in check. Any other ideas I can keep myself accountable?
  25. I was wondering if there was going to be an art group this time around since I haven't been doing challenges for awhile, and I got my answer! I'm pretty stoked. I'm currently finishing up a drawing I'm doing for today so I'll post that tomorrow. I'm so stoked that this is a thing
