  1. Are you only interested in lifting, or would you consider doing bodyweight exercises as well?
  2. Congrats on the climb man. And that was a good drop. Especially considering the uneven ground.
  3. Hey whatever works, long as you're working right? I'm wondering if it's possible to over arch your back on the upswing when doing the overhead smashes. Mildly concerned about lower back pain. So far nothing, but I'm usually careful.
  4. Hmm what weight are you using? Mine's a lightweight one. Only 6 or 8 lbs. Forgot which.
  5. Your doctor has good suggestions. Though I definitely wouldn't do that weekend convention either XD. I don't think I'd give a pullup a try for awhile. They're pretty intense on the arms and shoulders. Though you said it's mostly pushing that's giving you problems now, I'd err on the safe side. But I'm no medical professional. Wall pushups are excellent for rehabilitation. And lightweight rows may be useful for you as well. I wish I knew of more that would be helpful for you. Most important thing is to keep up your spirit and keep going for it, in a safe and reasonable way given current circumstances. And it sounds like you're doing fine in that regard.
  6. Restless night and it's been a little while, so I went and did another sledgehammer workout. Kept me warm in 60 degree weather lol. Picked up the shoveling exercise with it. I really like that one. Started doing the swings the proper exercising way, with my hands at the bottom of the handle close together. It does make a difference. There's been a lot more cardio work involved in it than I was expecting. It's a good thing though.
  7. And finished today up with swinging my sword around some. I'm able to put a very large amount of force and speed into the mezano ( middle horizontal) cuts now. And I can do a backswing with the false edge just as fast. The bloodmarks on my hands from the pommel should be testament enough. I still haven't come upon a name yet. Maybe rough hands in Gaelic or something.
  8. I figured. College is crazy. As long as you keep em up is all that really matters. Good luck :3
  9. Hit the gym yesterday. Went at the hanging situps with a vengeance and was pleased to manage 3 sets of 10 with decent form. Little swinging involved. Whoo. The rest I don't really remember. Just did a kind of all around thing. Today I bought a fun new toy. 6 pound sledgehammer. Combine that with my tire punching bag and one on the ground and I've got a fun little melee training spot. It's alot easier to swing than I expected though. Achieved lvl 50 in melee weapons already? All I know is I could destroy stuff with that thing XD
  10. Wish I had rings around here. I've loved doing dips ever since I repurposed that walker I found XD Happy healing.
  11. You could always make that a normal exercise pattern :3 If you have the time anyways.
  12. Sounds like you're doing pretty well then. Werewolves is a fun game when you have enough people. I wish I had a group to play with regularly here. I had more I was gonna say but my mind went blank lol. Back to New Vegas for me for now.
  13. Sounds like he knew exactly what he was talking about. I'm kinda curious about the stuff he assigned you. One thing I learned early on is that stretches are important though. Before and most especially after the workouts. The first day I did a bbww i learned that one XD Cats were inspirational there for me. Hope everything mends well for you man.
  14. The hanging crunches definitely tired me out. Can't remember them making my abs very sore, but I know they did a little there. I wouldn't say my legs are a bottleneck, but I can't really say I use them in that manner either. That I know of anyways. It's all just kind of there. Though, I mostly do exercises that target specific things don't I?
  15. Yesterday I did 2 hours of sparring with a cousin. My shield got the addition of a little dog collar to hold it to my forearm. That made a world of difference. That sparring is tough on the legs XD
  16. At some point in between then and the 7th I did more bodyweight and sparring. Can't remember though. On the 7th: 60 something leg presses at 120, 10 at 240. 10 power crunch things at 140 and 10 upside down hanging crunches? 30 forearm things at 60 and bbww for one circuit with my friend who managed the squats, pushups and plank. He skipped out on the rest and I wasn't in much shape to do more than the pushups and planks myself. The hanging crunches, I'm not sure what else to call them, are fairly difficult. At least I know I can do them now though.
  17. Consistently work out both in the gym and bodyweight, while keeping up with my personal hobby training. Though I'm beginning to realize that all the footwork that hobby requires seems to be a good deal more of a workout than expected. On your arm pain, I wonder if you slept on it in a way that may have sprained it?
  18. Yup, it's nothing more than a small setback. If even that. Just don't quit. I've had plenty of setbacks myself. And a few times that I had to lower the bar. Currently working to get the ball rolling for myself again.
  19. It's a hard road getting off of sugars for some people. The stuff I read on sugar addiction... Easy to understand taking it in gradual steps. But I'd make the same suggestion that another poster already has. There are so many varieties of herbal teas that I couldn't list em all. My personal favorite is spearmint. Many of them have pretty nice benefits as well. You might consider trying Lady Grey, as it has a sweeter flavor in my opinion. The bergamot or something. Also, on the topic of kidney stones, do you eat alot of foods that are high in oxacylic acids? From some things I've been reading to further wilderness survival I've learned that plants can be high in that type of acid. Eating too much of something like spinach or dock can cause kidney stones as well. And I'd like to say I think you started this challenge off with a very reasonable set of goals. Certainly a good challenge. See you in the Assassins soon, if it's still the direction you're planning on heading.
  20. Found my max weight at the leg press machine today. I'm pretty satisfied. I managed to do 260lbs 5 or 10 times. The crunch machine thing was a little less telling. I only managed 160lbs on it, but the strain was entirely in my thighs attempting to hold myself down against the weight. Even with the seatbelt clamped, it seemed like it was going to push me back. I was able to move 180 once when I tucked my feet under the rests and held firmly. My legs were on fire at that point though. I listed these in reverse order. I did the crunches first, then the leg press. Thought I'd clear that up. Can't remember if I did 5 or 10 on the leg press because I was a little out of it on account of only having a bag of popcorn for lunch.
  21. I have actually maintained a 3k+ calorie diet for awhile before. I can't really afford it at the moment though. That did get me up to 130 something. My goal is between 130 and 150. Anything there and I'm happy.
  22. Well, if I found a circuit that focused entirely on strength gain I may. The Batman bw circuit is a candidate, but I'm not in the physical shape I think that requires yet. It's actually a goal of mine to eventually be able to do it. I focus primarily on strength gains. I have to skip calorie burning exercises like jumping jacks due to whatever my metabolism stems from. I still haven't gotten it looked into. I'm back down to 123ish lbs at 5'10" lol. In all honesty, that work I did Sunday left me sorer than all the stuff I did in the gym. Planning on going there tomorrow and seeing what the max I can do on that crunch machine is, within reason of course.
  23. Speaking of bw, 30 pushups from my recliner, 30 dips and two sets of the three planks I do. Dips in sets of 5. Planks done one right after the other with a break between sets.
  24. Hey are you sure your weight gain is fat? Could be muscle y'know. Working pretty hard afterall.
