For those of us new to paleo eating (I hate the word 'diet', it sounds temporary), I'd love to hear what some of the seasoned eaters like to always have on hand for those times when you just didn't have anything planned. Like coming back home from a trip. To avoid some heat up front here, I just want you to know that I understand that proper planning is part of paleo, and I'm starting to make those meal plans and weekly menus. I have many paleo recipes picked out, and I have already tried a few with success, but I know that my most vulnerable times of falling off the plan are when I have to improv on the spot. To be prepared for those times, what are some paleo staples you always have on hand? What are some fast, no-cook or quick-cook food combinations that satisfy you well or at least enough to make it to your next planned meal? EDIT: I'd love to also hear if anyone has any foods that are commonly mistaken for paleo and may not be. I just realized that cold-cuts/sandwich meat have a lot more chemicals than I realized!
