  1. Yes! I knew I sent this to someone before! Do you have the video by chance? (but I'll be uploading it today, too just in case) It's the bees knees. This seems like a pretty good description, but I know what it is so I may be biased. When you hook the foot behind the knee of the ankle you're working with let your body weight be the pressure - instead of pushing my foot against my knee or anything I just let myself feel like i'm falling forward (if that makes sense) - that'll also help it not be strenuous on the shoulders or arms. OH! And make sure you actively push the heel down. When I first started I felt like my achilles was going to explode. I also feel it in the top, outer portion of my foot/ankle. So yeah, it's majorly intense but it helps A TON... even when you think you're totally a mobility ninja (like I did) haha So here's hoping! Glad the gentle yoga helped! Sounds like a lovely evening!

  6. So, I have a stretch that @Nightlight sent me that's legit the best thing I've ever done for my ankles. I'll try to find the video she sent me and send it to you. Or, I'll see if I can record and send it. I can't describe it accurately with words sooo yeah.

  8. Not sure, really. I might do an informal challenge that involves checking in on muh nerds consistently throughout a challenge instead of ghosting again Y'all. Y'ALL. I put the beef recipe in my crock pot last night, right before bed, plugged it in and MY CROCK POT IS DEAD! IT'S DEAD! My heart. It hurts. This! Or I'd be more than happy to be part of another messaging form check, too. Totes. Squats - perfect time for meditation practice!

Since you're doing the good ol' AIP I won't suggest the cilantro lime quinoa I usually use, but I will suggest plantains. You can make them into tortillas if you like (I like to add 1 tsp of lime juice to this recipe, fyi) OR you can just saute some plantains up and eat it in a big ol' bowl. So good. Much yum. ETA: And I just realized I mega ditzed. Yeah, that recipe is not AIP. Nevermind... so much derp.

  14. Um, so, I see my last post didn't actually post! Derp. Special. Anyhow, Boyf and I, I believe, are available for brews and board games this Saturday! And I think Thinking Man is a perfect location since it has good (free) parking options and also has some games (though admittedly they're more standard issue). tl;dr - sounds good.
  15. I have the deadwedge and I'm a fan. I hate doing the god damn plate jiggle and pull trying to get shit on and off my bar. I suppose one could use the small plate, too. I just like the wedge better. Also, aside from the fact that you should definitely not be an idiot like the guy in the video the wedge isn't hard. It's rubbery. So, I imagine if you were to leave it on the platform while you lift you probably wouldn't break it. It would still be a stupid ass thing to do, but I don't think it'd break...
  16. Ouch! Sorry about the neck. And sorry about laughing. But really, that's your fault. If you weren't so funny in the telling then I would (probably?) feel more empathy and less luls. But seriously, ouch. Here's hoping the Baby Power will keep increasing weekend sleep times by 15 minutes. Sleep man. It's an awesome thing.
  17. Thanks! Yes, and no, and yes again. Such silliness, this body o' mine. But like... I don't even have a baby to blame... There is no amount of times I can see this and not LOL. That face! Alannnnnnnaaaaaa! Hey girrrrrrrrrrrrl! Not doing All The Things is hard, man. *** So, the challenge is over, eh? It appears I fell off the face of the planet. Again. God, I'm good at that. Anyhow.... so I felt better, then not better, then better but work was busy and I had a bunch of obligations to get done and then vacation. And by vacation I mean staycation with Boyf. That means - I haven't been to boxing once. NOT ONCE. Dafuq. Two weeks were rest requirements. The week of work crazy I didn't leave work until the time at which class started. So annoying. And there are no normal workouts during staycation week because it's all about hanging out together. Also, we went on an accidental 9 mile hike in 95% humidity. So... there's that. Food was okay - both quality and quantity left something to be desired (too little food, in this case). But it could have been worse. I've figured out a way to make sure I eat more veggies when I'm at home (not a problem when I come to work - but I get extra lazy when I am home) and my cabinet is now full of those baby food sauce packet things. Yup. No shame. I spent a lot of time doing yoga when I was "resting" so I count that, over all. I've also been getting all super into Fit For Real Life so I've been messing with her mobility/neural drive stuff a lot. There was ample walking during vacation and week 3 - less during crazy work week as I tried to get everything done before I left. Other than chaturanga during yoga I did very few push ups. So, bah. All in all, not a successful challenge. But at least it got me back, in part, in the challenge mindset.

  19. Pat! Helllllllloooooooo! Ha! Yes! I'll take it! The following week and a half was basically as follows: I was completely run down last week. I managed to workout Tuesday thinking I was just normal levels of tired (I've been having weird dreams so I wake up a lot). Uh no. It was rough and the next 4 days were awful. I passed on boxing in lieu of recovery. There was a lot of binge watching Doctor Who, laying around, and sleeping. I still hit many of my goals, though. So, that's cool. Here's the sum of things: Boxing: nope - rested because I needed it. Go me for not trying to kill myself with activity. FM & Accessory: Actually, yes. Managed to do some push ups 3 mornings last week. Good on accessory - messed around with some new accessory for deadlift day. Active Recovery: I was at work 3 whole days but only walked 1 partly due to needing to get stuff done before I leave for staycation and partly because of the whole really worn out thing. I don't know if i did restorative yoga... I can't remember. I think so. Maybe? Food: I ate most well, but there were some assholey things in there.

If the option is bulk or cut - bulk. My humble opinion is that you don't need to cut. The whole thing is very reminiscent of when I thought I needed to cut and did and did and did and now I look back and think, "shit, I should have bulked." take it for what it's worth.
